Sense of Place

We were in the bell tower, bright, modern, yet with quiet echoes of the history of the area. As an American, I felt the Canadian vibe. Highly recommend if you are looking for something unconventional.

Fall colour getaway

We spent Thanksgiving weekend at this property. It was unique and nicely situated between Perth and Smiths Falls. It was spacious and comfortable and gave everyone privacy when they wanted it and a large living room for gathering together. We enjoyed the fireplace in the evenings. Our hosts were lovely and left us apples picked from their own trees as well as a homemade apple crisp.

Wonderful!

The property was comfortable, well-appointed, beautifully decorated with lots of comfy furniture. We enjoyed the wood fireplace and all the special little touches that Garry and Janice included to make our stay practically perfect. The sunroom converted to a bedroom worked better than we thought it would.

Quaint and comfortable

We needed a home base for a cottage-country weekend wedding and this converted old church was just the ticket. The hosts provided all the details we needed to make it a wonderful stay. Beds were comfortable, fully outfitted kitchen, close parking, and fun space including the garden out back and the beautiful church windows throughout. We wanted for nothing and Janice and Garry were very gracious and communicative. It’s close to a drive in theatre which we didn’t have the time to visit but maybe will next time. Freshly baked yummy cinnamon buns are available daily at the general store in Rideau Ferry, jus a few minutes drive away. We even stopped to pick up some to take home. You can get worms there too but I wouldn’t call them yummy although the fish would. We all highly recommend this quaint spot.

Delightful flat near Perth

Well appointed and spacious flat created from a former village Anglican church. It is located in a quiet village mid-way between Perth and Smith Falls. We have stayed at many different VRBO properties over the years, this is undoubtedly one of our favourites

Interesting Place

The church conversion has been done thoughtfully and with love. Everything works and is comfortable if not luxurious. The host was highly accommodating and friendly. Great location if you want to explore Smith’s Falls, Perth and Merrickville. The nearby boat ramp is great for smaller boats, our 18’ bass boat was about as big as would fit. The big surprise was the number of high quality restaurants in Perth. Bistro 54 is an outstanding Italian. Fiddleheads and Mex&Co are also excellent with good food and unique ambiance.

Beautiful setting. Great host.

A nice novelty staying in a converted church. Transformed into very homely accommodation. Close to road but no road noise when windows/doors closed (thick church walls). Can hear people moving about upstairs (loft apartment/studio) at times (other guests) but really very minimal. Could be a bit warm in one of the rooms if extremely hot at night (if you are used to AC) but fan provided. Great setting - some beautiful towns very close. Church close to water and canoes/kayaks were available. The host (and her husband) were wonderful. She was a wealth of local information and suggestions suitable for guests staying. She really made the stay a great experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place and would likely stay there again if vacationing in that area. Lovely people and lovely place.

Beautiful Setting

The church was a great place for us to have as our home base. We got out walking or biking every day as well as visiting Perth and Smiths Falls. The rural roads were quite nice for biking. Our hosts were very prompt at responding to our texts and we had no issues. We loved having all that space, it was a wonderful stay.

Quiet and Relaxing

What a beautiful place to get away from the noise of the city. We were welcomed with a nice message on a chalkboard when we arrived. The fireplace was already going and the house was comfortably warm. Everything was super-clean. It stayed quiet for the entire stay. While it was a cold weekend, the house stayed warm thanks to the great heating system and the stocked fireplace. The hosts were available when needed but we really didn't need anything because of the attention put into the fully stocked house. We will return

Such a beautiful building and property

Our stay was to celebrate a 30th wedding anniversary and we were absolutely thrilled by the building (a restored 1900 stone church), the property and the generosity of the hosts. Waiting for us in the refrigerator was a delicious apple dessert and a hand-written note. How nice was that? As well, check-in was seamless. On top of this, Port Elmsley is beautiful and very well situated to some great drives and destinations. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

Anniversary Trip

Stayed in both the upper and lower units. Both are very unique and beautifully decorated. Kitchen's were both fully equipped. The grounds/gardens and pond were very relaxing. Our hosts suggested a trip to Westport and Folly Mountain which was a highlight. Would very much recommend a visit to to this vrbo.

What a wonderful historical home. It was beautiful and clean.

This property felt very comfortable and like home. It was clean and spacious. There are items around the house that are historic. The owners are extremely nice and and offer any assistance you need in regards to their home or what to see and visit in the area. My daughters and I were only there for a short time for my son's wedding but I will surely return for a longer visit to enjoy this beautiful home and the area.

Wished we stayed Longer

Stayed on the first floor of this restored and renovated church for a few days. The location is perfect - close enough to Heritage Perth, hiking trails, artsy villages and beaches but just removed enough from it all to be a peaceful sanctuary at the end of the day. Hosts were really helpful: Janice and Garry answered all our questions and were quick to respond. The place was immaculate. Comfortable and cosy. Lovely property in a tranquil setting.
