The listing looked nice and great for the price, so I booked my trip 2 months in advance. The host messages me THE NIGHT BEFORE my stay and cancels on me, saying there was a glitch and they had actually booked the place months ago to another group and were forced to cancel. I got a full refund but that is ridiculous. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere because the host is unreliable.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Tolerable but not enjoyable.
Bedroom was upstairs. Host required shoe removal at front door making climbing wooden stairs in socks dangerous. Host controls temperature remotely. It was 83 F inside on a 90 F day. Ad said private bathroom but it was not and we had to go back at noon to let others in to use it. It had washer and dryer listed in amenities, but we were told to leave $10 on counter to use it. It was not a private apartment, other people were in it. Doors locked with skeleton key but we were told to leave them unlocked. I carry a lot of meds and so we did not. Nice location but we wont be booking it again.
We had a great stay. The house is in a beautiful, leafy neighborhood in NW Washington. It's a very nice house, clean, with a beautiful private bathroom, and with easy parking right in front. The room is inside the owner's house, but it's off to the side and it felt like we were alone most of the time. The owner was easy to communicate with, he cared about our stay and was willing to help out if we needed anything (which we didn't). I would definitely stay there again, my wife and I were very happy with everything.
I booked this stay for 9 nights in August and was only able to stay 1 night. There was no air conditioning in the room and the heat made me physically sick to my stomach. The owner told me to leave the door to the hallway open to cool the room down. Not only did that not work, but I felt terribly unsafe as the whole house was open and I had no idea who else was staying there. There were skeleton key locks on the doors but no key to lock them and they looked like they could be locked from the outside. This was also frightening as I felt I could be locked in the room. Additionally, it seemed like I was to share a bathroom with others which was not clear when I booked the room. The owner also said I did not need to worry about the parking signs as no one ever was ticketed and again I was uncomfortable. I respectfully requested a partial refund as I could not physically stay in the room and I literally feared for my safety. The owner almost immediately stopped communication with me upon my request and has refunded no money. I highly recommend NOT staying at this property.
