Simple quiet home

The downstairs duplex was located in a diverse neighborhood of Houston in a convenient part of town. The parking felt safe behind the house behind gates. We liked the cleanliness of the home overall but felt it needed some upkeep in terms of mattress (one was super sunken in the middle) and one bedroom AC that did not work. It was nice that they had a washer and dryer.

Houston Stay

Property was exactly as listed. We stayed in the downstairs section of the property and entered through the back door. I would suggest allowing downstairs guests to use the front door for retrieving door dash/Urber eats delivery. It was very difficult to get drivers to come around back in the dark.

Excellent host

My friend and I came down to hang out for the weekend and stayed at this lovely property. It had everything we needed including gated parking. Angelina was an excellent host and very easy to communicate with. Will definitely stay here again next time I’m in Houston.

Great place Will repeat!

Communication Was very easy and very prompt. The place was very clean, even though we never use the kitchen. It was very nice. Plenty of sheets and blankets for a cold person like myself. It was close to many places to eat and but we mostly order in. I will deff book this place again for all my travels to this part of Texas!

Overall property was a nice place to stay. The surrounding neighbourhood is being regentrified so there was lots of construction going on and often piles of garbage left on the curbs. The suite itself was nice and clean. We did have some issues getting the A/C units to regulate resulting in some extreme temperatures. The host was quick to respond to messages. All and all would stay again.

Nice & Quiet

Very clean, spacious and quiet. The faucet in the bathroom is almost at a trickle. Overal, really enjoyed and I would stay and recommend to anyone. Angelina was great!

Cozy, Convenient and Well priced

My teenage son and I stayed here for the World Robotics competition held at the convention center. It was a 6-8 minute drive to a parking lot that was a 5 minute walk - most parents paid 2-6 times what we did to get there in the same amount of time. We also spent a day at the Natural Science museum and it was a quick drive there as well. Although we were away most of the day, it was a lovely place to come back to in the evening and we always felt safe - even on late nights after 9 or 10. Plenty of hot water (we both take long showers) and having separately controlled AC in all of the rooms was lovely. Angelina was a great host! My son asked if we could stay here again next year.

Houston stay

Cute apartment, but not a great area. The apartment was not adequately stocked for 4 guests. Three bath towels, two washcloths and half a roll of paper towels. We hand washed all of the dishes because the dishwasher had mold in it and smelled bad. The air conditioner in one of the bedrooms barely worked.

Decent but needs some love.

There's a whole genre of rentals where the owner bought it and/or rehabbed it and hasn't reinvested any money or effort into it since. This is one of those rentals. The place is in a convenient area and it's a pretty nice unit, but it needs some love. The floors were installed without proper subflooring so in various spots the floor sinks in like you're going to fall into a hole. The blinds are pretty ragged and they're white so the Houston sun really heats up the unit and will wake you up as soon as it rises. One of the chairs had legs that were falling off (just toss it) and the other one had stains all over it. The tub and trim outside the tub all needs recaulked because it's falling apart. I pulled enough lint out of the dryer vent to fill a jacket (not sure if it had ever been emptied). No lamps in the living room so it's full blast ceiling or nothing. Chandelier missing bulbs and other bulbs mismatched. Lack of basics like paper towels, laundry soap, etc. Again, not a bad place but with a few quick repairs and reinvesting basically what I alone paid for a rental fee, this place could be back to pretty much perfect. VRBO please let guests upload pics.

Better than a motel

This is your standard B/C tier rental property. It is a great price, and you get what you pay for. The house was clean upon arrival except for the comforters which were clearly not washed from the last guest, but we tossed them in the washer and dryer, and the host was quick to offer us a brand new one. There were used contact lenses in the bathroom drawer, but again not really the hosts problem. Our big issue was when we realized the AC unit in one of the bedrooms was not blowing cold air. We arrived on a cool day and didn't notice the AC issue until we got back to the house on our second afternoon as it was quite a bit hotter outside than when we arrived. The host was very quick to respond, but was not able to get someone out to fix the problem because it was 4pm on a Saturday. She repeatedly told me that if I had reported the issue sooner she could have had someone fix it, but of course we reported the issue as soon as we discovered it, the timing just happened to be unfortunate. VRBO told me that this issue has been noted on her account 2 previous times, dating back to 2021, so it is clearly a chronic issue that has not been fixed. The host refunded us for one night since we were not able to tolerate the heat and had to seek other accommodations. If you have high standards and want to feel overly safe in the neighborhood, I would avoid this rental. If you're in town for an event and just need a cheap place to lay your head, this will suffice.
