About this property

Splendid Cozy Log Cabin with Beautiful Mountain Views!

Come enjoy a mountain sanctuary at Wood's End. Located at the end of a quiet road on private, wooded mountain acreage with beautiful long-range mountain views, and surrounded by miles of walking and hiking trails; Wood's End is a classic-style Log Cabin which has been lovingly and painstakingly remodeled inside from top to bottom.

The original square log walls and wide-plank wood floors have been brought back to their original glory, yet the Kitchen has been outfitted with new Stainless appliances and Granite countertops. The bathrooms have also been completely redone with granite vanities and oversized ceramic tile floors, vaulted ceilings with hardwood accents and heat lights, fully-tiled tub and shower settings. The Living Room features its original stone wood-burning fireplace with a beautiful hearth and mantle. Equipped with a large wall-mounted Flat Panel HDTV with Surround Sound Enjoy the mountain air and view on the front porch and dine on the huge extended deck. During the warmer summer days enjoy the comfort of the Central Air Conditioning.

The Master Bedroom is on the main floor with a Queen bed, wall-mounted flat screen HDTV with digital cable programming and Netflix capability. It has a full bathroom with an large tiled shower and granite top vanity.

The Second floor features two additional bedrooms - one with a Queen bed and the other with a Queen and a Twin bed. Both bedrooms have large closets and share a full bath with tile floors, a granite vanity, vaulted ceiling, with a tub/shower fully-enclosed in beautiful tile work.

The outside living space includes a 2-tier deck; a covered front porch with an open-air grilling area, and a step down onto a beautiful open-air deck with a large outdoor dining table and chairs. Walk down the stone path to the impressive Fire Pit which is enclosed in a large pea gravel field with chairs and benches. There is a covered back porch with a nice flat mulched area behind the cabin for your outdoor play and recreation.

Venture away from the cabin among acres and acres of wooded mountainside acreage lined with walking and hiking trails, hidden places with benched seating - the Watauga River is even within walking distance of the cabin (1 mile walk or 1/2 mile drive) for cooling off with a quick dip, or trying your hand at fishing for mountain trout which run through the Watauga River.

Although is feels like you are out on a mountain in the middle of nowhere, you are actually only 12 miles to Downtown Boone, or only 5 miles to the Tennessee line, then another 5 miles or so to the eastern part of the Watauga Lake.

Clean and comfy

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin kind of wraps it's arms around you when you walk in. It was very clean, which I loved. The outside decks are nice as well. We were sitting out enjoying the stars and actually saw several satellites pass over. You can definitely relax. Tons of outdoors things to do in the area.

Snow everywhere

We love this cabin. We come in January hoping to see and play in the snow and we are always happy. We love the wood burning fireplace and coziness.

Beautiful secluded home

We were absolutely pleased with the home. Super cozy, comfortable beds, well stocked and overall just a lovely home! We were displeased unfortunately, with the lack of information regarding the driveway up. Understandably, the area has seen a lot of damage from Helene and their driveway had some erosion issues that were likely worsened by the storm, however, the driveway is steep enough in places that in the winter - there should be a significant warning/suggestion to reserving guests that they’ll need at least 4WD. Preferably chains considering the driveway has continuous water from the mountain coming through. So it’s ices up and is very slick. We spent almost 5 hrs trying to dig away hard ice and snow to get one of the SUVs safely parked because it was sliding down the driveway and almost into the ditch off side of driveway. Where we surely would have been stuck. Chains would have been helpful but we wouldn’t have reserved this place regardless of how cute it is, had we known the driveway was long, inclined and ungroomed with thick ice. The owners were incredibly nice to talk with and tried to offer suggestive help. It was clear they were very aware of the problems with driveway though. I should have read the reviews more…. I now see multiple positive reviews that make many mentions of driveway issues over the years. The listing should warn people. This all said, I’d rent it again happily any other time of year! Owners also gave us a late check out.

Holiday weekend

My family of four spends time in the mountains before Christmas every year. This year we had the pleasure of spending time at this beautiful cabin. The cabin was so cozy and clean. We loved the location and the views from the cabin. We felt secluded but were very close to the surrounding areas such as Boone and Banner Elk.We highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is ready to relax and enjoy the peaceful location!

Quiet solitude

My partner and I stayed here while attending a nearby family event. It has lovely outdoor spaces and sufficient kitchen and indoor spaces. Slept really well with quiet and fresh air. Abundant wildlife in the surrounding forest. Bumpy road up the property requires momentum to get through a gravel patch. The cabin could be better stocked with essentials.

Great rustic cabin

We loved this cabin!!! There is so much to like. One important note - the driveway is steep and gets rugged with rain and runoff. I recommend an SUV or at least a vehicle with decent ground clearance. We had a 2WD pickup truck and an AWD mini cooper which did fine, We especially loved the firepit area. We loved the benches and stone surround which made it a safe and comfortable area. We also enjoyed having family dinners on the deck with the sunset view of the mountains. Inside the cabin was cozy and well equipped. The mattresses were firm, and linnens and blankets weee plentiful. The kitchen was well equipped with all of the cooking gadgets needed including blender, mixers, and pancake griddle. This place was perfect for 6 adults. WiFi and cable worked great. Also there was plenty of hot water for showers. We would definitely return to this place!!

Great Cabin

Wonderful small cabin with great outdoor fire pit. Ice maker was not working and the refrigerator was somewhat dirty. The cabin is a good distance time wise to Bone, N.C. Nearest store is about 15 minutes away.

This authentic log cabin was the perfect accommodation for our mountain trip! Both inside and out was very well maintained, and it would be hard to beat the scenic view offered from the front porch. The owners were fantastic in making sure our visit was comfortable and they surpassed our expectations.

Our Mountain Getaway

This cabin at Woods End is clean and cozy. It’s well appointed and overall just beautiful. It’s secluded, which is what we wanted. The only drawback is that the upstairs portion of the cabin tends to get very warm in the summer even with the air conditioning going. The air-conditioning was slightly problematic. However, the owners were accessible and accommodating. We would stay here again.

Mountain adventure!

Very nice private location. Very quiet. Beautiful views! The cabin was very comfortable. It has all of the items that you need. It is a rustic location in the woods. The driveway is steep. For us that was a plus and added to the beauty of the cabin.

Wonderful place to stay

This was a wonderful place to stay during our vacation. The cabin was very comfortable and we especially enjoyed the outdoor spaces around the cabin. The kitchen was well stocked so cooking was easy. Great, location, too! The cabin is in a quiet, rural setting and it was an easy drive to nearby attractions, as well. We would return in a heartbeat!

Cozy and Authentic High Country Cabin

Our family had a spectacular long weekend at the cabin! Very private and well equipped. Kids enjoyed playing in the woods and weather was perfect! Ended up with a few feet of snow the last day so ensure you have a 4x4 of snow is predicted. We would stay again for sure. If you are fire pit people, bring a lot - between amazing wood burning indoor fireplace and outdoor Firepit we went through a LOT which I’m glad we planned for.

Why they chose this property

Our cabin was built by our late parents in 1977. At the time we lived in a small town, Stedman, N.C., where Mom and Dad were school administrators. Whenever possible they would travel to the High Country for vacation and like many folks, they fell in love with the beautiful landscapes and heartwarming hospitality of the local people.
It was a dream fulfilled when they were able to purchase 5 acres on this mountain and build their log cabin home. Rebecca and Woody created many wonderful memories for themselves, their children and grandchildren. The years have passed and though Mom and Dad are no longer here with us, our log cabin in the High Country still remains a place for continued wonderful memories to be created.
We have renovated several things within the cabin, but also have tried to maintain much of its authenticity. We are pleased to share this special place and hope your stay here will be a wonderful memory for you and your family too.
