Red House, Mangamaunu

Located just 10 minutes North of the Kaikoura township.
Fantastic Bach with direct beach access.
Two spacious bedrooms with a comfortable queen bed in each.
Open living/kitchen areas which open out to beautiful front and back decks.
Private fenced courtyard and own beach access. Can view the surf break from your lounge chair!
All the mod cons, Netflix, unlimited Wifi, Dishwasher, Washing Machine,
Wood Burner, outdoor BBQ and did I mention.... your own beach!
Epic surf break @ Mangamaunu just a 5 minute walk up the beach or 2 minute drive in the car! Close to Meatworks, Graveyards and Irongate.
Great surf casting right out front.
Big opening Bi-folding doors and windows for those beautiful sunny days.
Although only 5 years old, this is a very well established Bach & nestled in amongst lovely trees.

Suitable for up to 4 Adults.
Off-street parking for 2 and a boat or trailer!
Responsible dog owners and their dogs are also very welcome.
(Please ask re fencing)

Please note: the railway line runs between the house and the beach and although there are not many trains, when they do come by, they are very close! This is a novelty for most people, but we understand it's not for everyone.

This is not a serviced Bach so you need to supply your own linen, towels & tea towels and clean after your stay. All cleaning equipment is supplied, but you have to do a good job!

The internet can be temperamental due it being on the old copper network.
Most of December and January are minimum 3 night booking.

Beachfront house near Kaikoura
We loved the quirky decor of the Red House. The location gave easy access to town and the highlights of Kaikoura as well as the isolation of the beach. 3 trains a day passed directly by the front deck but that was a bonus. A great place to stay.

Amazing spot to stay!
This home is perfect for a weekend getaway! Super comfy beds, WIFI and smart tv, shower pressure is amazing! (Be mindful of the water though, rain water system) massive outdoor area with sink, fire pit and plenty of seating. With the railway and beach literally on your back doorstep! The perfect example of a modern Bach with a classic twist.

Fabulous getaway
We absolutely loved our 4-day stay at the Red House and were pleasantly surprised at the close access to the vast beach; and away (and close enough) from the hustle and bustle of Kaikoura village. Our accommodation was just so lovely - everything we needed (except a hairdryer), and we enjoyed lying outdoors on the beanbags late into the evening. Keen to come back again soon!

Lovely Bach by the sea
This is a great out of the way place to stay. It’s only 12 minutes out of Kaikoura and so close to the sea. Altogether a very comfortable place to watch the world go by. The owners are very accommodating and we enjoyed ourselves along with the two dogs.Our only issue was with the microwave and the internet. We thoroughly recommend it and the beautiful spot.

A memorable stay!
We loved our stay at the Red House! It has a relaxed bach feel, all the mod cons, comfy beds and an awesome location next to the train tracks and beach. Close to Kaikoura and lots to explore close by. Road traffic was noisy at night but would highly recommend staying here, we hope to visit again!

Quiet seaside breakaway
Lovely cottage with quirky decor and comfort, all that you need for a quiet seaside breakaway with ready access to the beach. The host is friendly and accomodating. This is fast becoming our favourite family get away with our little doggie.

Red House 10/10
We absolutely loved the Red House! Been in NZ for two months and have been continuously amazed, and the Red House was another superb stop. We loved the trains going by! We loved the space (fully opening folding windowed-doors), gorgeous decor and comfortable bed from which we could watch the sun rise when inclined! We’re very lucky to have pods of dolphins playing for hours just off shore each morning. Easy drive into town. Highly recommend. (She does ask you to bring your own linens and we had to source those as we came from out of NZ. Easily done and worth it and now we are using them for simplicity at other stays.) An easy 10/10!

Really enjoyed the peacefulness of the stay and waking up to the sunset in the morning. Checking in was easy with Sandy instructions. Look forward to coming back again in the summer to explore the area and have a stab at surfing 🙂
