House fit eight people with plenty of room for all. Outdoor shower is next to a large jacuzzi and house has three decks . Access to private beach one block away has fantastic sunset view. Family and pet friendly neighborhood, a home run for a weeks family vacation!
I really liked the house and neighborhood. Great location and the house has everything we needed. There was a camera in the Kitchen that I unplugged, but the owner was good w that. If you are sensitive to republican decor this might not be the place for you. But i would stay here again.
House was as advertised!! Beautiful house and location. Enough room for all. House had everything you could need. Location right down block from entrance to the private beach where fires are allowed. We have been coming to Montauk in late september for 8 years now and this house was by far the best one! Hope to book it every year. Thanks John.
John helped us quickly fix a blown fuse by FaceTime.
He was available when needed.
Loved walking the neighborhood and to the bay at the end of the street!
This house has all the bases covered, the 4 bedrooms and the open large living room, kitchen, dining room with the many windows allowed so much sunshine in. Just a few steps to the private beach and an amazing sunset view. We were blessed that we could also bring our beloved pets as well. The house and town produced a Patriotic” atmosphere that was great for our grandchildren to experience. The owner John is very friendly and kind, he always answered my phone calls with answers needed. We had a perfect vacation praised The Lord! ~ The Conroy’s from Ohio
This house is a great location. The rooms are good sized and the bathrooms are great. The decks are also a nice spot to hang out, walking distance to the beach and a 3-5 min drive to everthing in town. Fun space to gather in the kitchen/dining/living room upstairs too.
One downside is there's a lot of political decor on the interior and exterior of the house. No matter what your opinions are for a rental it'd be nice for it to be more neutral for photos/guest comfort etc. Some of my guests were pretty taken aback by this.

Best vacation ever!
This house is amazing! I felt right at home here. It's affordable and spacious. Close to the water as well. I didn't feel limited at all. The utilities were free to use. I would 100% rent this house again the next time I go to Montauk. It was clean and the decor was updated. I've rented out houses before, and they were always bug infested and outdated. This house feels new and cozy. I recommend it to anyone who is looking to spend a few days away from home. Very relaxing.

Perfect Montauk vaca rental - Owner is great guy
We booked this house for 4 nights in June to do the Montauk triathlon. I spoke with John, the owner, before staying and he is a down to earth, great guy. The hous is an "upside down" house so the bedrooms are all downstairs and the living room / common area is on the second floor with a half bathroom. The common living room / dining area is great - completely open floorplan with living, dining and kitchen all one big space and it opens up on the 2nd level back deck which has tables with umbrellas and a grill. Downstairs the back / master bedroom has an en suite bathroom and the other bedrooms share a bath. In addition there is an outdoor shower. This is a typical, slightly older Montauk house and perfect for a rental where you are comfortable having all the basics you need but not worked up if your countertops aren't granite. It's in area that is wonderfully quiet because it's a neighborhood, but a short walk to Swallow East, Dave's, and all the other restaurants on the harbor. You are also only a few houses from the calm beach side for swimming if you have young kids. John's nephew even stopped while I was in front of the house to check if everything was ok and if we needed anything. I'd sum it up by saying it's a great house with everything you need and nothing you don't and definitely recommend staying here.
I rented this house over the long October weekend so that a couple of mom friends and myself could get away with our kids. We love Montauk, come here often and have stayed in Culloden shores the last few summers due to its great proximity to beaches, restaurants/Gosmans, and the ability for kids (and moms) to walk or ride bikes easily.
However, this house will not be returned to. Upon arrival we were surprised to find several "in your face" Trump related items. A chair painted with Trump's face on the front porch, stickers on the entry door, a couple of flags with "he won, get over it" type messages over the bunk beds where kids would have slept. Even the wifi password. While none of us are big Trump fans it had less to do with that and more to do with the overt, sin your face messaging and the many questions we had to answer with the kids. It simply was surprising given that this is a rental.
More importantly, there was a camera in the kitchen to watch over the kitchen and main living area. While I too have outdoor cameras at home and understand safety needs, this one made us uncomfortable. We unplugged it as we headed out in search of some late night dinner and I realize I should have texted the John, the owner, but I had intended to contact him after we fed kids. Instead, we came back to a stranger on our porch telling us that John had sent him to "check something in the basement. Mindful that these are Covid times and he was not wearing a mask we were uncomfortable with this whole situation. When I asked to speak to John I was told it had to do with an error from the security system. I explained we had unplugged the kitchen camera - John then went on a rant about security and how we had no right to do that and he "needed to know if someone broke in to rob him" (never mind if someone broke in that we would be in there). I calmly but firmly explained that we were not comfortable with children (or ourselves) being on camera and had no idea who he was or who might be watching. I further explained that I was fine with outdoor security cameras but that a camera in the kitchen/family room was unacceptable. After telling me that "this may not be the place for us" (mindful this is now 10:30pm on a holiday weekend) he finally relented.
The house itself was clean, well kept and stocked. A lot of prior guests or owners' refrigerator items were there so we worked around those. Sadly with these issues though we will not be renting again.
This house was the perfect place for a group to stay- plenty of space for sleeping, great outdoor space, and the most perfect location! It's just a short walk to a private beach and walking distance to great restaurants such as Grey Lady, Gosman's, and Goldberg's Bagels. John was very easy to communicate with. We will definitely be back next summer!
