Mixed review

The cabin had a nice view and was very cozy w the wood stove. I was expecting a bit more based on the price (essentially 400/night w all taxes and fees). The kitchen and bathroom situation need some work. The grounds were ok- a lot of delapidated buildings and such. There were a bunch of chickens/roosters in make shift cages in an old barn which was a little disturbing. They were relatively attentive and have a great dog that will hang out w you.

Perfect for a weekend getaway!!!

My friends and I booked this for a weekend trip. The property is fantastic! The road up the hill is steep, so having a car with some clearance is recommended, although I did make it up the mountain in a Camry. The host was terrific and very great at communicating. The town nearby (Elkton) has a great brewery that is def recommended.

Fantastic Experience!!!

Our holiday weekend at the ranch was wonderful!! Upon arrival, Evan was very helpful and informative and made us feel right at home! My husband broke his eye glasses and Evan immediately came with glue and duct tape to save the day! The horseback riding experience was phenomenal! Liebert took us on a mountain trail that brought us out onto a beautiful vista of the Blue Ridge Mountains! My only feedback would be that before coming I thought the cabin on the front of the VRBO was the one we were staying in and that the horses would be closer to our cabin. It's a 15 minute drive to the other side of the property to the horse barn but what an extraordinary mountaintop ranch!! It is breath taking!!! Thank you for a wonderful weekend of great memories!!!

Rustic cabin, few surprises

Cabin was cute and rustic. The hostess Jess was super nice and the working horse farm was beautiful. FYI- there were a few issues. Cabin was not very clean and had a few safety issues (splinters and rusty nails). Also was not told there was a neighbor downstairs which felt a little weird to discover that a man was staying in the basement apartment. 3 stars overall.

Hummingbird Haven

We arrived in the dark and had some problems finding the ranch. It would be very helpful to have several signs after the initial sign for the ranch at the road. Bryan and Melissa met us at the cabin, gave us a good overview, and were very helpful in answering any questions we had. For those of us that appreciate rustic farmhouse decor, this cabin was very charming, throughout each of the rooms. There were many creative, artistic touches! In addition to the refrigerator needing to be replaced, there were several small things that need attention in the cabin. Because this was a working vacation for us, we needed to get online, and we were able to get internet connection. We were able to get on our Zoom meetings with no problem, and maybe because we have Verizon service, we were able to get phone calls and text once we put the password in our phones. Streaming movies doesn't work, but Bryan set us up with some DVDs. The highlight of cabin is the wonderful porch, and the hummingbirds were constant visitors to the porch (you might want to bring some nectar with you). The scene off the porch is lovely, with mountains peeking through the diverse tree canopy. I imagine after the leaves fall, there will be a great view of the mountains. The beds were very comfortable, and the linens, including the towels were were very nice. The living room was cozy. The groundskeeper (we forgot his name) was super helpful to us throughout our stay, and kept everything looking great, including leaving a nice strip of wild flowers after mowing. We enjoyed walking up the hill (maybe a mile) to a lovely spot with a rustic bench overlooking a valley and the mountains in the distance, with a variety of wildflowers. We enjoyed grilling and we built several campfires! On the way to Elktown, there is a wonderful Amish produce stand. Everything we purchased there was delicious!

Rustic mountain stay

As expected the cabin is very much ‘In the mountains’ - perfect for getting away from it all. The cabin has all the essentials and is very rustic. The fire pit out among the trees and wildlife was perfect for an evening cooking outside.
