About this property

Clitherall Lake 300' of private shore on 2 acres

The perfect "lake time" getaway guest house. Walking distance to Justice 2 cafe. 4 miles to the town of Battle Lake. My family has owned property and have been coming to this lake for 3 generations. We love this area so much that we just had to buy this place so we could share one of the cleanest and best lakes in Minnesota. Its sits on 2 acres with 300' lake shore. This unique lot has that "awe I am here" hill side view of the lake, but then it slopes just perfectly to the water, giving you an amazing private beach setting that you can just hang out at all day. Huge cotton wood tree branches hang over the water creating an oasis of shade for you to float under and for fish to hide. Just cast out and pull them in. Push the canoe or kayak out and paddle around. Fire pit, picnic table, dock, canoe and kayak included. Plenty of yard room for outdoor games (Corn hole game in the small shed).
The home has been updated with new carpet, flooring, fixtures, paint, back deck and covered patio, new BBQ grill.
We take home rental business seriously. This home will be thoroughly cleaned top to bottom for each renter. Thoughtful features like, beach towels, kids toys, games, duvet covers, mattress and pillow protectors. good soap, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap. There is central air, or you can open the windows. Each bedroom has a window with a lake view. Water softener system.
Check out the amazing history of the original settlers on this very land.
* * * Why are we called the Blue Loon??? We participate in the Clitherall Lake Association Loon preservation project. Each Spring we place a Loon habitat about 30 feet off our shore, and in fall we take it out. * * * We hope to help foster a Loon family every year. * * *

Great family getaway

This is a great, quiet lake getaway and I highly recommend it! Very clean and the yard is large for running around in. The beach is clean and Clitherall Lake is very clean. Lots to do in the area if you are unfamiliar.

Sweet Spot

Loved that it was near Battle Lake and the little coffee shop to grab ice cream and lunch! Use of floaties, towels were a HUGE bonus since I forgot those things. We were able to tie our boat to the dock this year because of the higher water which was also very very nice. Was able to fish and swim off the dock--sitting by the fire to watch our daughter (who has disabilities) was a bonus. Layout of the cabin itself was fantastic.

Amazing and secluded location

Private yard and beach. Room for family outside and inside. Walk next door to the coffee shop, down the road for a nice walk along the lake. Bikes for the kids and floats for the water. Just loved it.

Best rental on Lake Clitherall

We travel every summer from NYC to Battle Lake where my sister has a place. My husband and our two children always stay in a separate place and in this home we have found the place we will rent every summer. The home is very clean and comes with all of the essentials (ie hand soap, Kleenex, plastic bags) all of the little things that we normally have to buy and then throw away at the end of the week. The home is cool and quiet for sleeping. The host is responsive and ready to direct you to anything you might need. Bedding and towels are also very nice and you truly have all of the comforts of home. Highly recommend!

Relaxing!

The shaded dock/beach area was awesome. Property was CLEAN. Everything you need was there- just show up with your groceries and enjoy. Water is clear. Near to Glendolough State Park that has other very clear lakes and good fishing. Justice Two Cafe is a fun place with good coffee, smoothies and a game room upstairs and is literally adjacent to the back lawn of this property. The cafe also has an outdoor playground. Battle Lake in the summer is great, awesome restaurants, candy store etc. Love Boathouse. We drove over to eat at Woodshed in Ottertail (excellent food) & boated Ottertail lake for a change of scenery. Two kids, 2 parents and 2 grandparents had a great time.

Perfect place in a perfect location.

We just loved this property! OK, it is a manufactured home, but that made no difference. It was big, comfortable, and so charming. So clean. Decorated beautifully. Any kind of dish or cookware you could ever want. The beach and the swim toys were great. Nice bicycles. Lots of room to set up our badminton net! Near a charming cafe. Nice bike ride outside the door (but hilly!) You can go to Glendalough State Park nearby for another bike ride. Battle Lake is a charming town. Shops cute. We did not eat in restaurants, but they sure looked good. Best host. This place cannot be beat. We'll be back next year!

Wonderful little get away!!!! Lake is crystal clear and very warm. House is kept sparkling clean with everything included you would ever need; from extra blankets, beach towels, laundry soap, to aluminum foil! Lots of outdoor seating to just sit and relax! A skip away from the nearest town that has fun little shopping and delicious restaurants. Great relaxing vacation!

Week at the lake

This is a beautiful property. It was very clean and had everything we could possibly need while we were there. We loved the privacy and lake access and the bonus of having a coffee shop right next door. Theresa was very welcoming, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. We hope to be back.

First time renting a lake property

The property had a clear, shallow lake and everything you could need was available to use. We loved using the canoe, bikes and enjoyed sitting in the shade by lake. Wood was provided for fire pit. We enjoyed making s’mores. The place was nicely furnished and decorated. Our pros: close to coffee shop, big yard, conveniently located, enough space for family, nice gazebo, central air, laundry available. Our cons: lights flicker a lot, water smelled awful- like rotten eggs every time we turned on faucet. There is a well and Water softener but water was undrinkable. We also have a well and water softener so are use to well water. Our well water does not smell like this property. Goose poop everywhere, broken chair on deck, needs more garbage cans, no WiFi, the neighbors at the resort were loud and kids from resort were on the property which was distracting and loud.

Perfect Lakeside Getaway

We were traveling with our 2 year old, 4 year old, and 6 year old, and this house/property was perfect for our family. It’s on 2 acres and the grass is very well maintained. Plenty of room to throw a frisbee, football, play wiffle ball, etc. and a lot of these games are at the house already. There were some board games and card games at the house as well that were great for the kids. The house was plenty big for our family of 5. Our 3 kids slept together in the bunk bed room, so we ended up with an extra bedroom we didn’t even really use! The pictures don’t really do the living room justice. It’s bigger than it looks. We played on the floor in the living room with the kids as a retreat from the sun during the day. The kitchen is well stocked and you have beautiful views of the lake from all rooms of the house. It’s about a 10 second walk to get down to the water where there’s a sandy beach area for the kids to play in, a dock to walk out on, chairs, and a storage bin with life vests and floats. There are some big trees around this area that provide great shade during the afternoon. The water is plenty warm enough to play in (we were there in July) and the kids LOVED chasing around the minnows and catching them. The water where you enter the lake is very shallow for hundreds of feet out into the lake. My 6 year old walked probably 100’ out and the water was barely above her waist. The bottom of the lake where the kids are playing is a soft, sandy bottom, very easy on their feet and no need to wear shoes. The kids jumped off the dock into very shallow water, and enjoyed swimming around. We were happy it was a safe environment so we didn’t have to worry about them “getting into a deep end” or anything like that. My 4 year old was also playing here without a life vest and only our 2 year old was wearing floaters just as a precaution. Some things we did in the area were almost nightly trips to Granny’s Pantry, which is a local ice cream/candy/fudge shop in Battle Lake about 4.5 miles away. There is also a cookie dough bar right next door that’s a good spot as well! In this same area, there is a Dollar General and a supermarket that sell all the groceries and things you could possibly need. It was very convenient having these stores less than 10 minutes away. There are also a few restaurants in this area, but we mostly ate at the house. Also, there is a local coffee shop right at the front of the property; a 20 second walk.

My name is Theresa. This home was new on the VRBO market in 2019, however, I am not new to the vacation rental business. I have operated 3 VRBOs. I have had VRBO #929779 (The Hawthorne Manor) in Duluth, MN since 2011. Feel free to check it out as a reference to me as a VRBO operator. My husband and I purchased this lake property in 2018 and we are thrilled to be able to share it as a vacation rental with others. My family has been on this lake for many generations (since 1940's). My mother grew up as a resort owner's daughter. My father's parents owned a private cottage near the resort and that is how my parents met ... the rest is history and my family has been on the lake since. I own another home about a mile away. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. I want you to have a wonderful time at the lake.

Why they chose this property

* * * We participate in the Clitherall Lake Association Loon preservation project. Each Spring we place a Loon habitat about 25 feet off our shore, and in fall we take it out. We hope to help foster a Loon family every year. * * *
Clitherall Lake about 2500 acres and a maximum depth of 70 feet. It is one of the cleanest lakes in Minnesota. There is an abundance of fish - walleye, crappies, northern pike, sunfish, bass, and more. We catch them right off the dock day and night. Wonderful lot on 300' of lake shore. There are many loons on the lake. Eagles swoop over regularly, and an abundance of birds to watch. You have a 2 acre lot so plenty of space between other properties next to you. This property is a hidden gem on the lake.

What makes this property unique

Perfect location. Only a few miles from the fun summer bustling town of Battle Lake. Almost all paved roads to get to the vacation home (so no long bumpy gravel before you get there). 2 adult bikes, 2 child bikes, and use of a canoe and kayak with life jackets included. This is a family lake...NOT a party lake...This lake is not suited for loud music, party drinking and reckless boating. Residents and vacationers at this lake enjoy peaceful mornings, afternoon water activities, families laughing and children playing, topped off with still nights listening to the loons. Although there are several resorts, ski boating and fishing, it is not overly crowded. Fishing and sightseeing and family fun are the main attractions on the water.
