About this property

180 Feet of Private and Pristine Lakefront in the Adirondacks

Relax and enjoy our lovely vacation cottage, set directly on beautiful Hunt Lake in a private community nestled in the Adirondack Park. Located on a private dead end road with very little traffic, this lakefront property is 25 minutes to Saratoga Springs and its renown Racetracks, and only 30 minutes to Lake George Village and the Queensbury Shopping outlets. The lakefront cottage comes with the use of a double ocean kayak (great for swimming and diving off of), a single kayak, canoe, rowboat for fishing, and an antique pontoon paddle boat for two. There are 2 adult bikes on the property, and for an extra charge we may be able to furnish a tandem bicycle and/or 2 stand up paddle boards. Enjoy spectacular sunsets sitting in Adirondack chairs on our 80' dock. This is a private lake with no public access, and the 180' of shallow shoreline is ideal for young children to play safely for hours! Lake is stocked with trout each year, and is the ideal spot for catching a variety of fish. We are 1 mile to Ledge Rock Hill Winery which offers delightful tours, and 10 minutes to Bend of the River and Brookhaven Golf Courses. Available Memorial Day - Columbus Day. Sleeps 6 adults comfortably.

Tranquility, nature with all the conforts of home

The place was immaculately clean. Accomidations provided by the host exceeded our expectations. Beautiful patio overlooking the lake where all meals, games & reading were enjoyed. Property was open & well enough away from the woods as few mosquitos were seen. Brought my in-laws in thier 80's who had no issues with access to the yard, parking or walking the stable deck available on the lake to sit & admire the view. Steps on the deck leading to the water easily allowed my 81 year old Mother access to get in the canoe for a 2 hour ride around the lake. Everything within 15 minite drive. Grocery store, golf, mini-put, small town resturants, Lake George outlet's...only wish the water was deeper to dive off the deck.😁 but bottom was soft enough to walk into the water.

Fabulous place to stay

I can’t say enough good things about this property. John and Cindy were very helpful and considerate hosts. The house is spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and modern but with character. The screened porch overlooking the lake was a highlight; we ate our meals there and watched the occasional thunderstorms from its shelter. We also enjoyed using the gas grill to cook fresh local produce. The location near Corinth was convenient, too: it’s a short drive to get groceries or other supplies and yet as soon as we started climbing the hill toward the lake, we were “away from it all.” And then there’s the lake: quiet, calm, clean and a very pleasing temperature — cool enough to be refreshing on hot sunny days but not too cold for cooler or cloudy days. The dock makes it easy to get in to the shallow water to begin a swim or a paddle. We loved the double ocean kayak, so stable and easy to paddle, and it works for one or two people, as the mood strikes. It’s a private lake with houses on the eastern and southern shores, so the house is not totally isolated. Other people can be seen and heard as they, too, enjoy the lake. Yet the house feels very private. We enjoyed several swims and kayak trips every day, and spent happy hours sitting on the dock watching the changing colors and moods of the lake. We spotted a great variety of birds on the water and land and were serenaded daily by the resident song sparrow. All in all, a perfect lakeside retreat!

Need a place to unwind. This is it. Beautiful small lake to enjoy....whether to canoe or kayak or fish. A leisure walk around some of the lake or to state at the star filled sky at night next to a camp fire.....cannot go wrong at lake Hunt!!! Try it....!!!

Beautiful view on private lake

We had a lovely relaxing week at this lake house. Besides being in a beautiful setting, the house is incredibly well appointed. Family members came up for one night, and Cindy was very accommodating. Cindy and John were very easy to communicate with and they have provided lots of things to do, indoors and out. I highly recommend this home for a low-key getaway.

Perfect Serenity

First off, Cindy is an amazing host and this was a wonderful lake house. Cindy & John have provided everything you could possibly want during your stay. The house is clean, comfortable, open & airy so that our family of adults had plenty of room to be together or find private time on the dock or porch. The new dock is awesome and the lake was perfect for my 5yr old granddaughter to swim. There are plenty of lake toys provided to play or float in the lake. I have booked with VRBO for years and this is the best appointed house that we have stayed in. The coffee bar got a lot of use, as did the kitchen & laundry. We did not have telephone cell service, just texting and it was wonderful to disconnect and truly enjoy the beautiful surroundings and view. It's just what we needed after restrictions on travels because of COVID. Our time at Heron House was memorable family time and special solitude time! Thank you to Cindy & John for sharing their house with us!

Perfect vacation spot

We all enjoyed our week at Cindy and John's. The house was clean with everything you could think of. The weather was good and we enjoyed the use of the kayaks and paddle boats. It was perfect swimming for my 6 year old granddaughter who could just walk out into the lake. Great place for family get away.

Quiet Getaway

We were so impressed with this lake house. It was very clean and more spacious than it appeared in the photos. The small lake is beautiful, and it's a nice, quiet community. There were so many amenities to enjoy. The kayaks and paddleboat were our favorite! The house was well stocked with paper products, dish and laundry detergents and even oils and spices in the kitchen, which was unexpected. Our dog was welcome to come with us and even received a special treat! All those little details really mean a lot. The house it also conveniently located within 30 minutes of Lake George. So you can easily enjoy a day trip there or throughout the surrounding area. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway, then this is the perfect spot!

Lakeside Gem

We were so pleased with our stay at Heron House. We spent all 4 days in the warm lake water floating, fishing, kayaking and peddling on the paddle boat. We soaked up the sun from the dock while watching the eagles and loons. It was truly a very peaceful and relaxing stay with every detail being well thought out. Cindy was very responsive with helpful tips and suggestions. We would not hesitate to return.

Peaceful vacation

This house has the most beautiful views of the lake and the lake is so peaceful, calm and quiet. The house is nicely decorated and furnished and there are many items there to make you feel comfortable and feel right at home. It was so nice to have a variety of boats for our use and we enjoyed swimming and fishing as well. We also saw many frequent visitors such as the Blue Heron, loons, and eagle. We had a fantastic vacation and can't wait to return.

Relaxing stress-free getaway

We had a great time! The house is clean, well-maintained, and has everything you need for your stay. Cindy was just a text away with any questions we had. The information sheets included details about the property as well as the local grocery store and places to eat. It also listed things to do in the surrounding areas. The screened in porch looking out on the lake was so relaxing. Plenty of space in the house for 2 adults, 3 teenagers and a dog. We spent a lot of time sitting on the dock, using the kayaks, the canoe and the paddle boat. It has everything available - washer/dryer, towels, sheets, beach towels, grill, fire pit, kayaks, a canoe, a 2-person paddle boat, floating seats and tubes for the water, menus for places to eat, fridge, stove, toaster oven, Keurig, board games, yard games, fans, wifi, TV, Netflix, etc. Very nice, quiet place and Cindy is very organized and helpful. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Heron House was amazing!

We had an amazing time! The house was everything we expected and more. It was spacious, clean and provided all the necessities. It even had a drying rack which made it easy to hang our wet bathing suits on. We enjoyed the lake and the paddle boat and kayaks. It was quiet and very relaxing. Cindy was very prompt in returning messages and making sure our accommodations were met. We also went to a nearby hiking trail to the lower reservoir which provided for some good fishing. The grocery store was close by and easy to get to. Overall, the week get-away was great and we would definitely recommend this for any family!

Great Lake House!

This house was located on a very private "Hunt Lake". The property has 180 feet of lake front and only a house on one side of it. The house is very clean and Cindy has stocked it well with all the things you need to stay. There are 3 bedrooms (2 are very good size) and the dining room/living room is a VERY large area. It also has a screened in porch which is very large overlooking the lake. They have great assortment of toys (canoe, bikes, row boat, floating chairs and tubes). There is also a long dock to hang out on and the water is pristine. You can walk out probably 150 feet before it gets to 3 feet and there are no rocks. My favorite thing was the old style paddle boat which me and my buddy used to troll fish on. We caught over 20 fish (bass, pickerel, sunfish, perch) and they were good size fish. We stayed 4 nights and only left the house 1 day to do some hiking at Sarasota Springs state park. They have a fire pit which we used every night to hang out and just take in the lake and the stars (with cocktails of course). I have rented many houses in the past and this has to be one of my new favorites. Normally i don't sleep great when going away but all of us commented on how comfortable the beds were and what a great night sleep we got. Would definitely recommend this place and would definitely go back!!

Easy relaxing

Our stay at Hunt Lake was peaceful and relaxing. The house is comfortable, convenient, and clean. We enjoyed fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boating. Floating next to the dock was a great napping space! The quiet cannot be explained. It was a wonderful get away! I would recommend this house to families of all ages! Thank you, again! A great afternoon escape for my husband and I at Ledge Rock Winery just a short drive away. Also, Sacandaga Outdoor Center provided a fun afternoon of river rafting

Perfect Get Away!

Our family had amazing time at Heron House. The location is peaceful and private, yet close enough to town for take out or groceries. The house is super cute, spotless and well stocked. The lake is crystal clear, perfect for swimming, kayaking, canoeing etc. Both our girls 13 & 5 had a blast. Cindy is a wonderful host who makes you feel like family. About the host

Hosted by Cynthia and John Pepper

Host profile image
This property was purchased in 2020 as our future retirement home. Because the former owners had set the property up as a seasonal rental, we decided to make some improvements and continue to offer it as a rental AND use it ourselves when it it available. My husband and I are a little fussy about where we will stay when we travel - so we have set this up to meet our standards. First and foremost - CLEAN -after that well equipped, a cute cottage feel, homey, and comfortable! Hunt Lake is a magical place, and we can't wait to make this our permanent home!

Why they chose this property

If you are looking for peace and serenity, all while having the entire Adirondacks at your fingertips, this is the place! This is not a rental neighborhood, so here you will be left alone, or you can strike up a conversation with the friendly locals as you walk along the road morning or night. People here are proud of their pristine surroundings, and we hope you will only rent if you are looking to enjoy everything lake life has to offer, all while leaving it as clean and quiet as you found it.

What makes this property unique

This property is unique because it is easy to access on a paved road, can easily park 3 vehicles (max for rental, please) but it feels very private! We own the property across the street, and the lot to the left is completely wooded. Neighbors on the right are friendly, but appreciate considerate renters.
