My stay at this cabin was absolutely perfect! The host was incredibly communicative, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. The cabin itself is well-maintained, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you’d need for a secluded, romantic getaway. Nestled on 40 acres that back up to the stunning Black Hills National Forest, the location offers breathtaking views and unparalleled privacy. Whether you’re looking to relax or explore, this cabin is an ideal retreat. I can’t recommend it enough!

Although there were several homes within a mile, Hermits Cabin was surrounded by forest...wonderfully remote.
Located towards the north end of the Black Hills, we had Rapid City, Sturgis, Deadwood, Sprearfish Canyon, Hill City, Sylvan Lake/The Needles, Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore all within15-60 minutes. We had a wonderful time.
The cabin has been updated with flooring, appliances, and many amenities. The A/C worked wonderfully and we needed it as it was unseasonally warm. The garage extension was is a nice useful addition, especially if you have more than two guests.
Thank you very much.
This location is definitely remote! We enjoyed our stay and especially enjoyed the deer that came to visit each day. We weren't there a lot, so we didn't use many of the amenities but it's well-stocked and a nice place to stay.
Everything was great - the house was nicely decorated, remarkably clean, and in a beautiful private spot. The bed was big and comfy, and my son was comfortable sleeping on the couch. The house backs to woods and we enjoyed walking the trails, fires in the fire pit at night, and watching the stars. It was a great central location to Custer National Park, Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Spearfish Canyon, etc. We didn't want to leave!
The property is so beautiful! The drive into the property was neat too! The wildlife was a nice view each morning and sometimes the afternoon. We did not get to use the firepit, due to no fault of the hosts, weather wasn't in our favor. However, the host was nothing short of amazing. Even left us a little surprise being a half dozen of farm fresh eggs! 😍 The communication with the host was a breeze with timely responses and even a heads up one of the days informing of a vehicle to be coming into the 40 acres for our own ease of mind! Hundreds of trails all around! I would have no problem booking again when in the area!
This is the perfect place if you want to get away and disconnect from city life. You will be surrounded by nature, you can hear the wind, the nights are beautiful. The cabin was spacious for three people, the beds are comfortable.
Booked the cabin for the Surgis Rally. When booking I booked for 3 guests intead of 4. Dawn was always available for questions and responded quickly. I later added an additional guest. She was accomadating. We arrived to a loaf of her fresh sour dough bread. Which was delicious. The cabin itself was clean and had plenty of space inside. Furnished with everything you will need. Just bring food & tolietries. Very peaceful and private. There were a family of deer that roamed around outside. I will definitely book again on my next trip to South Dakota.
I have stayed in many rental properties. This property was as described but the host made the difference. The property was stocked with the essentials more than other properties. The exchanges with the host were prompt and pleasant....highly recommend...
Loved the property and peace and quiet, just what we needed for our week in South Dakota. We loved the area with so much to do and see, amazing weather, and great accommodations. The only issue with the property is that the water pressure is a bit on the weak side, but otherwise just an absolutely perfect week! The property manager was very communicative and helpful, and the place had everything we needed for our stay including lots of k-cups for coffee!!
We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful place. The home was perfect for our 25th anniversary trip to Sturgis. The scenery is amazing and quiet and the home had all of the amenities we needed.
This was an awesome place to stay! Great views! The cabin is cozy and finished nicely! We were able to go for a nice hike right on the property! The window in the living room offers an amazing view! we woke up to deer grazing two of the mornings during our stay! The location of the cabin is great! It was close enough to rapid city but far enough out in the hills to have seclusion and great space to roam…our stay in SD included a visit to the reptile garden, bear country, drive out on needle hwy, taking a stop and peaking at mt. Rushmore, a cave tour, drive through Custer state park and on our way home we drove through the badlands! This cabin wasn’t too far from any of those things! For meals we brought food and cooked the majority of our own! The kitchen had everything we needed! We would absolutely stay here again!
A perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Black Hills.
This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the serenity of the Black Hills. The property is secluded yet not too remote. And it is very comfortable and well equipped to relax, read, hike, and breath in the nature. Hosts were extremely accommodating when we had a question about WiFi.
Clean, quiet, perfect size for our family! We truly enjoyed staying out of town- and watching the different wildlife in the mornings yet not being to far to enjoy the attractions in/around rapid city.
This was our second time staying at the cabin we loved it. It has pretty much everything you need and the location can’t be beat. Everything about the rental was great. Thanks.
This small cabin had all the necessary amenities to go from comfortably relaxing to meandering through the Black Hills by foot or by car.
A great place overall!
Beyond the pictures and expectations! Very comfortable bed, living room and deck. The kitchen contains all the cookware and dishes I needed for several meals at the rental. Plan to stay up late and enjoy the deck, night sky and surrounding forest; not to be missed.
