Our family of four had a fantastic stay at Welcome Home Cottage. It is in a nice and quiet location and the house is great. Very cosy (can imagine it is great in winter!) with everything, and more, that you need. A short walk to the lake and the shopping area (café, restaurant/bar, takeways, a very interesting second hand shop, and the wee bookshop. We picked up groceries in Te Anau on the way. Plenty of cooking equipment at the cottage and a big BBQ. We got delicious fish/seafood and chip at the Travelling Chippy one night. We stayed four nights and did tours at Doubtful and Milford Sound. Staying at Manapouri was great for both and having gone to Te Anau a couple of times for supplies and activities we much preferred peaceful Manapouri location.Myell was a great host, providing us with all the info we needed and the check in/out process is simple.
Welcome Cottage lived up to its name.Beautiful inside, still a 1950’s bach.Great fireplace, living space and outside area including a hammock. The garden a gem and outside the back gate, sheep. What more could you ask for. G and G
Really nice, cosy cottage with everything you would need for a stay in Fiordland. Great location with the lake and the cafes/shop just 5-10 min walk away. Outside BBQ area was really cool and the house was very nicely decorated. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
This is the most stunning place to stay. The cottage is beautiful, immaculately clean, cosey and warm. Thank you again for sharing it with us. We really enjoyed our week and will hopefully come back again! Five stars are not enough to rate this!
What a beautiful cottage! So impressed with everything from cleanliness to ammenities. Was a home away from home! Perfect outdoor area for our doggie, she had a ball. Thank you for sharing this special place.
The cottage was perfect. So warm, cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed. Great base to explore from and lovely to come back to at the end of the day. We’ll be back!
Cottage was great, lots of character. Clean and tidy, obviously well loved by the owners. Great location to explore the wider Fiordland & Southland regions. We were sad to leave
We loved staying in this cosy cottage and will definitely return. Great open fire, comfortable bed, interesting books and pictures - wonderful for a winter holiday.
Beautiful bach at a stunning location; clean, very tastefully & functionally equipped
Quiet location, walking distance to the Lake. The kitchen is very well equipped. The beds ('large' bunk beds and a queen bed are very comfortable). We loved the paintings. Tastefully decorated. Quiet garden with tui visiting. Lots of board games in the kids' room. Not far from Te Anau. We had a great time! Thank you.
The cottage was perfect for our holiday. It was well located for our stay. We were able to use the cottage as a base from which we did many day trips. The cottage was clean, cosy, warm and filled with charm. Each room had a heater and it was a bonus to find that the bunk beds were King singles. The fire place was a real winner.
We loved this house: full of warmth and great character; well-built and well looked-after it just had a great feel about it and it made us feel a little bit like locals (!). Very comfortable with great heating, hot water, location, quiet, well-equipped and it even had sheep out over the back fence :-). Highly recommended.

This is a unique little house where considerable thought has been put into every detail. The rooms are small but charming. Staying in Manapouri is a great way to avoid the tourist throng in Te Anau and it’s only a 15-minute drive away. Comfy beds, very quiet location. Our only problem was the lock box: two sources had different codes and we were trying what must be the old code; once we discovered the second code, all went swimmingly. Nice, too, to have 2 pm checkin and 11 am checkout. Highly recommended!
After spending three weeks traveling the south island with family we landed at Manapouri and the Welcome Home Cottage for our last couple of nights before heading home to Oregon. We needed this quiet spot to regroup, eat meals together, and rest. It was charming too! Fraser's beach was a perfect sunset farewell! We did not venture to Doubtful Sound because of weather but we went fishing and enjoyed our time heaps and heaps! Thank you for providing the feeling of home for this weary family. We love New Zealand, and especially the Welcome Home Cottage. Don't miss the Wee Book Store around the corner!

The cottage is smallish and older style, but we absolutely loved it. Manapouri itself is very quiet, but within easy drive to Te Anau where there is food and shopping. There are a couple of food outlets in Manapouri itself and the people there are wonderful, but don't expect a huge range of choices. It's an incredibly beautiful spot and a very cosy and welcoming cottage.
We encountered a snap snow storm at Manapouri and could not have been cosier than in Welcome Home Cottage. Beautifully and lovingly decked out with an open fire and heaters in bedrooms.
