Great spot for relaxing
Thorsteinn was great at answering our many questions - very quick getting back to us as we had some issues with the sauna and hot tub but managed to get them going in the end. Lovely host, lovely property.

Perfect spot
Beautiful property about 20 minutes away from Selfoss. Fully equipped kitchen, heated floors, and enough space for a group or family. Thorsteinn was very quick with communication and very patient with our questions. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during our stay and will always have fond memories of Iceland!

Perfect location
Great time for our first trip to Iceland! Our family of 4, 2 college age sons, enjoyed a week of sightseeing and relaxation over the winter break. Grund was located perfectly for us to do short day trips up and down the southern part of Iceland during the short days. We didn’t use the hot tub or sauna because the snow was too deep around it but didn’t miss it at all. We were lucky to see several nights of northern lights with a spectacular display on New Year’s Eve. It is a great house ,location and host. Thanks for a wonderful visit!

Christmas in Iceland
Our family braved the cold and spent a week in Iceland over Christmas. The property couldn’t have been better. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, steam sauna, cooking in the beautiful kitchen and the proximity to wonderful sights close by. It was a vacation to remember! If I could give more than five stars I would!

Awesome Property and Location, perfect for exploring southern Iceland and light viewing!
Awesome, great location in a 'neighborhood' not too desolate, but sparse enough for excellent viewing right on property on walkable in the neighborhood in all directions. Excellent property itself, and really close to Selfoss for food, drinks, etc. Excellent experience and hope to be back!

We loved our stay in this home which had all the amenities we needed to enjoy our time! Hot tub and sauna is amazing. Steam shower is incredible. Coffee pot is the best!

Great spot for getting to all destinations on the golden circle
The property is huge and can sleep a huge group comfortably. We had 11 people and there were more than enough accommodations. The house had an issue with the hot water during our stay but the owners worked on getting it fixed and gave us a partial refund because of it. A little hard to find at first and I suggest dropping a pin on your map after you find it.

Wonderful stay at Grund
Grund is truly a gem. It's a beautiful and very comfortable house in a quiet and sparse "neighborhood". It was such a treat to watch the sun set over the Icelandic landscape from the sauna and watch the aurora right from the house (it's a fairly good viewing point with lots of open sky, dark enough though you could drive another 45 min away to be in a totally dark zone). Thorsteinn is a very responsive host and we were in touch during the whole stay. I will be recommending Grund to my friends who visit the island.

Perfect for our Group
Our large group was very comfortable in this house. We were able to spread out, we all had our own bedrooms, the kitchen was well stocked & large enough for all our cooks! We used the sauna, hot tub, and the steam room. No jets in the hot tub, but it was wonderfully warm. The hot water, as with many listings in Iceland, was a struggle at times, but the owner was very responsive & trying to manage the new hot tub heating. The views were gorgeous & the deck was wonderful. We would all highly recommend staying here.

We had 11 staying at the house. It was the perfect size. Thorennstein was very helpful. Our adult children enjoyed the hot tub after a day of hiking. One thing that would have helped is a binder with info on how to work various things. Appliances work differently than in the US. Didn’t affect our time there, just would have been helpful.

Great week at Grund
We had a fantastic week at Grund in the Selfoss area! This is a prime location to use as a launching pad for adventure in the southwestern area of Iceland. Most sights are within 90mins of the property and the capital is only 50mins away. The house (and bunkie) sleeps 10 comfortably featuring a large open concept kitchen with gas stove, dishwasher, fridge, etc for great cooking. We enjoyed the privacy and amenities of this family friendly property. Relax on the deck, or enjoy a panoramic view out the back of the sauna. The house was clean, and the hosts were quick to help out with questions. We would recommend.

Golden circle Iceland accommodations
This was the perfect spot to use as a base for all our activities. We rented 3 houses all were good but by far this was the best. The kitchen was very well equipped. A truly wonderful deck. Hot tub and sauna were amazing. Sitting in the sauna with a full glass wall with a beautiful Mountain View was great. We chose to meet at this house for evening meals because it was perfect for gathering . Plenty of parking -(this comment is for the guys ). We had a couple of issues which usually happens anytime you rent for a few weeks. Thorensteinn the owner was Uber responsive and met our needs immediately. If you are hesitating about renting, don’t worry you will love the place. Thanks for a truly amazing stay Thorensteinn.

Could have used more information in writing in the house on systems/appliances (e.g., washer/dryer, dishwasher). The door between bathroom and two downstairs BRs needs to be shaved; it is sticking. Given such small BRs on the main level, there should at least be some shelves and/or more hooks. The sofa is REALLY worn; otherwise, the common area is excellent and attractive for a group of our size.

Birthday getaway
The house was a good size for the 5 of us, kitchen/ dining area was a lovely space to hang out at. However, there was no-where (besides someone's bedroom) to hang out and watch a movie together, although the blueprint of the second floor shows a movie room type space, but in reality there are multiple beds in there and a small couch. The house really needed a thorough clean, fixing of blinds, pocket doors and shower doors, as only one person could shower at a time with privacy although the house advertises as having 2 showers. There was also no-where to hang/ store clothes in the main bedroom, which meant living out of the suitcase for the week. The wardrobe was filled top to bottom with spare linen. If anyone books the house with a baby, please note there is no bathtub, although a cot is provided.

Perfect home base!
We stayed here six nights while exploring Iceland in March. It was just the four of us, so we could have gone with a smaller place, but this house was just perfect for us. We loved the cozy living room in the evenings and the kitchen had everything we needed to have breakfast and a few dinners at home. The beds were comfortable and we LOVED that the floors were so warm. We made use of the hot tub most evenings. Thor was great to communicate with and the perfect host. Would love to come back again!

We built this house 2008. Grund is located in the heart of the popular Golden Circle. Close to Reykjavik, the capital and very short to get service at Selfoss and Hveragerdi. A lot of things to see and do in the neighborhood but also an excellent place to do just nothing but relax and enjoy the nature.
