Why Nevada is a Great Choice:
If you prefer a quieter and less crowded experience, the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe is the way to go. You'll encounter fewer people, less traffic, and fewer delays due to weather.
Close to Heavenly Ski Area Lifts:
You're within a 2-hour drive of 18 ski areas around Lake Tahoe, both in California and Nevada! Choose the best ski area based on snow conditions, ski quality, road conditions, weather, traffic, terrain, views, location, distance, cost, and personal preference.
Just 4 Minutes to the Ski Lift:
Heavenly Ski Area is the highest, tallest, and largest ski area near Lake Tahoe, boasting 3,500 feet of vertical terrain. It offers some of the most breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe, and you'll find one of the best ski instruction programs in the entire United States.
Shorter Lines in Nevada:
When you head to the Nevada lifts at Heavenly, you'll be pleased to find much shorter lines for parking, lift tickets, rentals, instruction, and food. This means you can get on the slopes and reach the mountain's peak faster and with less hassle. You can even ski to the California side during lunchtime when the lines are shorter and then return to Nevada.
Close to Heavenly Nevada Bases:
If you're looking for full instruction facilities and uncrowded slopes, Boulder Lodge has you covered, along with a high-speed lift to get you to the top in no time. Stagecoach Lodge also offers a fast lift to access uncrowded and challenging Nevada slopes.
Convenient Access:
432 Barrett Drive is conveniently located just 1 mile from Kingsbury Grade (Hwy 207). Kingsbury Grade is known for being a good road and the fastest, shortest, and most direct route in and out of South Lake Tahoe. You'll find Lake Tahoe's largest and best casinos at the bottom of the Grade. And for those heading to Heavenly Ski Area's Nevada ski lifts, they're right at the summit of Kingsbury Grade. Best of all, this route has lighter traffic than other highways in the Tahoe area. It's a hidden gem, with fewer people using it because it doesn't look like a major road on most maps.
No Town Crossings:
Unlike other routes, Kingsbury Grade doesn't pass through any busy towns. You'll only encounter one stoplight between 432 Barrett Drive and Tahoe's largest casinos. There are no stoplights between Hwy 395 and 432 Barrett Drive. Hwy 395 leads straight to Reno International Airport and serves as the main highway on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada, running from Southern California to Northern California.
Scenic Kingsbury Grade:
Driving on Kingsbury Grade offers stunning views of the Carson Valley and surrounding mountain ranges and takes you through wildlife areas and ranches.
Winter Access Made Easy:
In the winter, 432 Barrett Drive benefits from excellent snow removal services. The Nevada side of Lake Tahoe is known for its efficient snow removal services
Safe and Well-Maintained Route:
Located 1 mile from Kingsbury Grade (Hwy 207), 432 Barrett Drive is conveniently positioned along the school bus route. Kingsbury Grade connects Lake Tahoe to Minden, the seat of Douglas County in the Carson Valley. Because the Grade is the main road for all county government vehicles in the area, the county road and snow removal crews keep it in excellent condition, ensuring it remains clear of snow. The Grade also offers the most direct route in and out of the Tahoe Basin, minimizing your time driving in snowy, high-elevation conditions as you travel to and from the lake. 432 Barrett Drive sits atop the Sierra Nevada crest but borders the Great Basin and desert. As you cross Daggett Summit on the Grade, just 1.5 miles from 432 Barrett Drive, you'll descend into the arid Carson Valley. The Carson Valley lies in the rain shadow of the Sierra Nevada, making the Grade a fast and snow-free route to Lake Tahoe.
