About this property

West Coast Paradise - Pet Friendly - Starlink

Kakapotahi is located 30 minutes south of Hokitika, or a short 10-minute drive from the Ross township on the West Coast of the South Island.

Relax and unwind in this truly amazing piece of West Coast Paradise or base yourself here while you enjoy all the activities that the West Coast has to offer.

The Kakapotahi and Waitaha rivers run along the back of our property and there is access via a short walking track at the rear of the property.

The beach and mouth of the Waitaha river is less that 3km away further down Beach Rd, an easy flat walk or a drive.

We have wifi (Starlink) available for our guest. Due to our remote location cell coverage is poor at the property, but available close by.

Dogs welcome with prior approval.

All beds are fitted with mattress protectors and duvet covers. You will need to bring your own sheets and towels

Great spot, keen to buy it😂
Fantastic property to spend some time on the coast. Great beach a couple of clicks down the road for walks/dogs or amateur 4WDing. The house itself is warm and comfortable and the bar/games area in the garage a cool addition. Only regret was we didn't book for longer.

Great place to enjoy your West Coast holiday
Excellent holiday home, everything there you’d ever want, and clean and tidy. Expansive lawns and garden make this a great place to relax. Nice beach about 2km down the road.

Awesome place to escape to from the hussle and bustle. Everything we needed was provided for and extra. Comfy and cosy place which was a great base to access the beautiful Westland. Only did two night but would love to return and do a longer stay.

Comfortable house with large, tidy section. Friendly neighbours. Was great to be able to take our dog. The weather was great.Wifi was terrible, phone service was from outside the property only, and the advertised Netflix viewing was not really a reliable feature so make sure you pack your books and boardgames.

A stunning house and grounds. Real luxury house. We couldnt get the internet to work and had no mobile reception. Tried contacting the owners but they hung up on us, said they would call back but didn't. If you go for an complete escape, you will stay at a place that is top notch it just that wasnt what we expected. Hope its an easy fix for the owners and the next clients can fully enjoy their stay.

The property was in a nice location however there was no wifi and very little reception therefore could not use the stereo Bluetooth and there was an old stereo which we could not work out. There was no instructions on how to use it. As there was no wifi we didn’t have full use of the tv either as needed wifi to stream utube etc. The property advertised a bbq in its pictures and facilities of the advertisement. We were planning on having a bbq the first night but there was no bbq to be found. The spa advertised is an outside bath which you are required to heat with wood. Not a spa like one expects. Cleanliness of the property was reasonable, could do with some more pots and pans. There was a dirty frypan that needed a good clean before using and really only one decent pot to cook with. I feel the advertisement needs to be updated so visitors know what to expect and maybe some instructions on use of the facilities like the stereo.

Perfect hideaway
We had a fantastic stay at Karen's gorgeous bach - it was spotless, well equipped (including with rainy day activities, handy on the West Coast!) and isolated enough to be very peaceful without being far to resupply the fridge or find some adventures. Highly recommend!

More than meets the eye
This place is paradise, so much better than what is seen in these pictures they dont do nearly enough justice, we were all very happy. We also travelled with our dogs which is a major plus, I would not leave home with out them. The lovely couple that host this place deserve to have it kept in the condition you find it. Cant wait to come back!

We purchased this property to make lasting memories with our family and friends, and boy have we done that! We now wish to share our property with other families wishing to explore the beautiful West Coast.

Why they chose this property

This place is amazing if you want an actioned pack weekend or to simply relax and unwind. A bush track at the back of the property leads you down to the river, or you can drive/walk 2.5km down to the beach.
Great fishing with many easy to access spots.
A lovely walk down to the Bold Head rock - (Just check tides).
10 mins north you will find great hospitality, food and a cold drink at the Historic Empire Pub (Ross)

What makes this property unique

A large manicured property sheltered by natural West Coast bush.
A small, quiet rural village with less than 10 properties, with magical spots close by.
