I really can’t think of one complaint. We loved watching the deer right outside of the window. I will recommend this house to friends visiting the area. It was clean and well furnished. It was in a peaceful and quiet location on the resort. We liked that it wasn’t in a crowded area
Lovely peaceful, large cabin with huge deck and view of Canyon Lake. A family of deer visited every morning. Great home base for day trips to Badlands, Custer SP, Wind Cave NP, Mt. Rushmore, Jewel Cave Monument, Deadwood, Spearfish and more. Efficient and friendly resort managers. Booking was a breeze. Highly recommend.
Lake View Lodge is a great location. We loved having the lake and stream practically outside the door. The location is very quite. There were deer that came on the property every evening. Outside of the bathrooms being very small the cabin was very comfortable. I highly recommend Lake View Lodge.
We had enough room for our family group of seven in the main house. The kitchen was perfect for breakfast and picnic lunch prep. We had more rainy days so we couldn’t use the outdoor grill and patio, but enjoyed the views of wildlife outdoors. This worked well for our few days of visiting attractions.
The property was quaint, quiet, accommodated my entire family and was very nicely located (scenery and proximity). It was close to Rapid City, Mt Rushmore and the Black Hills and The Badlands, Sturgis and Wall.
We used this as a jumping off point for multiple day trips. Three bedrooms and extra space in the bunkhouse. Loft bedroom is accessed through ground floor bedroom so better suited to a family. Lovely view out floor to ceiling windows. Owners at campground very nice and easy to work with.
Lakeview Lodge was a wonderful home-base for our family trip to Rapid City. The campground was close and convenient to restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations but had the feel of being out in the woods. The best of both worlds! We would definitely recommend Lakeview Lodge.
This was a great place to stay during our touring around the Black Hills. Nice family friendly home. Awesome view and we saw many friendly wildlife! I would recommend for any families.
A young deer peeking through the window, turkeys quietly feeding in the yard, wild ducks gathered on the lake…a peaceful escape from every day hustle and bustle! Perfect location, perfect hosts. Every age here, and all of us completely happy with our choice! Thank you!😊
My husband and I, our adult sons and their girlfriends had a blast! Beautiful property! The wildlife and deer were amazing to watch right on the property from the large outdoor deck! The trails are stunning! Definitely booking this property again in the future! Thank you Scott for letting us enjoy your cottage. The Bussmann family
the location is great - very close to (1) Mount Rushmore; (2) Custer State Park & Wildlife Refuge; (3) Crazy Horse; (4) Downtown Rapid City w/Presidential Statues. The place was very clean. The kitchen was great & grill was clean (although we didn't get to use it due to eating timing on our part). Like other's mentioned it's an odd floorplan but it's very adaptable. So 1st floor of main house has 2 queen bedrooms with bathroom in between; in 2nd bedroom on the first floor there's spiral stairs up to a single bed in an alcove followed by a queen bed in a master bedroom with a bathroom.. The reason it's "4" bedrooms is because there's a "guest house" out the back door which has a little cabin with a sitting area, kitchen, and bedroom and bathroom. Overall everything is clean and readily available and good area not to mention close to everything you'd want to see in the area. I would rent this again - especially with my family - I have one married daughter so the little cabin would be perfect, while the others stay with me.
There is so much to do and see within driving distance that we spend little time in the cabin and even less on the grounds.
Place is comfortable but a bit unusual. I have never seen a spiral staircase leaving to the second level, best for the younger generation. My daughter liked the separate building for herself. There is lots of room overall to spread out. Mentioned in previous reviews, the place sleeps nine but has dishes for 4-6. We "borrowed" bowls from the separate building. We didn't know but enjoyed the fact that deer took up residence in the side yard. The deck had seating for 24, not sure why.
Great location to all the different attractions. Watching the wildlife around was really neat. Lodge and bunkhouse was spacious with lots of room. Definitely will use again
We had a fantastic long weekend. The property was in a perfect location for day trips to the Badlands and Blackhills. Everyone was very responsive when we had some issues with the wifi. Only complaint was that there wasn't a way to make the bedrooms really dark at night, but is was a minor issue.
We loved our stay here! More than enough room for our family of 5. Central location for Custer, Spearfish and Badlands yet also close to stores etc in town. Only concern we had were the beds were a little soft and creaky for us. Overall a great private and peaceful setting, we were able to fully relax here before and after our day trips.

Odd layout. Although we knew this going in. With so many beds I wish they would have had more sets of silverware. We never had enough for us all to eat at the same time. Also things like salt and pepper, paper towel starter set, curtains on some bedroom windows, scissors, and hair dryers were missing.
The lake was beautiful. The playground and paddle boats were fun. Convenient to airport and majority of attractions in and around Rapid City. Easy drive to devils tower.
Beautiful location and views.. Easy to to find and convenient to everything. We did multiple day trips to Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, The Mammoth Site, Wall Drustore, The Badlands, and lots of golf! Very quiet and very safe area. Older home with updates but an odd layout from our perspective in the main house. Have to go through one bedroom to go up circular staircase to master bedroom, bath, and screened porch. Guest house was good for married adult couple with us. Great deck with lots of seating and gas grill to use. Quiet back porch with seating too. We saw foxes and deer. Really enjoyed our stay!
The pictures do not do this property justice. My family and I had an amazing time with plenty of space. Staff was very helpful with great recommendations for the area.
Excellent get away. In town with the feel of being in the hills. Quiet and plenty of room for everyone. Can't wait to come back. Campground host was wonderful.
