About this property

Bear Cave Haus | Serene Views + Hot tub & Pool Table!

Bear Cave Haus, a charming two-bedroom, two-bathroom log cabin, is conveniently close to all the attractions Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have to offer. In less than 10 minutes you can drive to downtown Gatlinburg, home to an aquarium, the Guinness World Records Museum, mini golf and a two-floor arcade that the kids will love, among many other attractions. Nearly as close is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a true must-visit. You can explore its waterfalls, wildlife and wildflowers on foot, on bike, on horseback or even by car. And let’s not forget Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area as well as the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop. There really is something for everyone just minutes away.

Even if Bear Cave Haus wasn’t so conveniently located, it would still be a delightful place to make your home away from home. Its woodlands setting is a joy to behold—and the cabin’s huge wraparound deck offers plenty of opportunities for doing so. You can gaze out at the towering oaks and listen to the wrens and larks from the deck’s roomy hot tub. As you read on a deck chair you can enjoy the mountain breeze rustling through the trees. And you can savor meals out in the fresh air, courtesy of the deck’s picnic table. You can even cook outdoors, on the charcoal grill. If you reel in trout from one of the nearby streams, cook it on the grill for a true Smoky Mountain feast.

You can relish the views from inside Bear Cave Haus as well. The great room has a double-height wall of windows that brings the sunshine and leafy vistas indoors. The room also boasts three comfortable couches, so everyone can gather to watch the big game on the large flat-panel TV with cable and DVD player or warm up by the handset stone fireplace. There’s a full-size pool table as well—it’s almost impossible to be bored when you stay here!

Dining out is often a vacation highlight, but once you see Bear Cave Haus’s dining area and kitchen you might decide that eating in is even more fun. The dining table seats six and is roomy enough to host an after-dinner Monopoly marathon or Scrabble tournament. The open, airy kitchen has all the appliances, cookware, gadgets and tableware you need, whether you’re hosting a Thanksgiving feast or whipping up morning smoothies.

The main floor’s bedroom is both spacious and—thanks to the paneled walls, beamed ceiling and rustic furnishings—wonderfully cozy. Sprawl out on the king-size bed and watch a movie on the flat-screen TV or get lost in a good book before turning off the lights, and in the morning, you’ll be greeted by sunshine and birdsong.

The upstairs suite is even more luxurious. As it’s the only room in the loft, it offers maximum privacy—along with a log-frame king-size bed and a flat-panel TV of its own. Best of all, the suit has a private jetted tub. When you return from a day on the slopes or the hiking trail, you’ll love soothing your tired muscles with a long, lazy soak.

The loft bedroom has its own bathroom, and there’s a second full bathroom on the main floor. The main floor can also sleep another four guests, on two sofa beds in the great room. In all, eight people can spend the night.

When you stay at Bear Cave Haus, you’ll have a blast taking in all of the local attractions and sights. But you’ll also love returning to the comfort, serenity and beauty of the cabin. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? So, make your reservation today, and get ready to make some fabulous memories.

Very nice property but disappointing amenities

The property itself was very nice however we had trouble getting into the cabin after our 12 hour drive having to contact the property manager because the code they gave us wouldn’t work was very frustrating. Upon arrival we found that the fire place and the hot tub did not work properly. We were able to get the hot tub working but were never able to get to fire place lit. Overall our experience was good but I would recommend leaving a list with instructions for the fireplace and hot tub for future guests.

Generally very good

Overall the cabin itself was wonderful. Everything you would expect for a cabin in the woods. Bathrooms could use some updating but other than that the place was great. The photos and listing are a bit misleading. It is no doubt a cabin in the woods but surrounded by other cabins much closer than expected. We unfortunately had a very large and rowdy group next to us. There was no porch swing. And the porch and view appeared much larger and more serene from the pictures on the listing than it really is.

Not to happy

Ok the cabin was nice and cozy but I will say it was dusty I understand it was a pet friendly home but every time we sat on the living room we kept sneezing the whole time do to the rug was dusty the curtains were dusty and the sofa needed to be wipe down, the 3 day of being there one of the trees fell down and hit the cabin at 4am knocked down the electrical cable down to the ground next to the house we were so worried about the cables cutting on fire we call the office and the guy told us it was too early and they couldn’t do nothing…we kept being worried so we called again the same guy answered the phone and told us we needed to wait till the next day..so we called 911 and they said they were sending someone to check it out and they never did… so we stayed the rest of the morning worried about the electrical cables cutting on fired and in top of that freeze to death because coming from Florida we were not used to that cold weather we couldn’t turn the heat on because we were out of electricity and the fire place wasn’t working so yeah we were freezing and we stayed like that till 11:30 when they came and fixed it… we stayed without cable till the day before we were checking out also the came to get the fire place ready when we didn’t needed anymore we will never stay there again because we can not control nature but they left us there like they didn’t care we understand it was still dark but at least send someone to see if them electrical cables wasn’t going to cut on fire

Decent. As advertised, but also know…

…the WiFi was S L O W, windows don’t have screens (in case you want to leave them open), most of the lights are pretty dim, the downstairs bathroom feels small and the shower head is low (better for kids), the downstairs bedroom ceiling is low, the ceiling fan in that bedroom is low and makes it feel even smaller while also being loud and shaking as if it will fall off the ceiling any second, and there was not a porch swing. If those aren’t of concern, then all is well! Otherwise, the living room space was adequate, the hot tub was a great amenity, and the beds were comfortable. The views aren’t expansive and scenic, but you’re comfortably in a neighborhood where you feel slightly/just enough seclusion. On days with decent traffic you’re about 10-15 mins from the center of Gatlinburg, so the area itself is is pretty nice.

Little things that need changing

Me and my friends had a ball! The cabin was cozy and was just all around relaxing. However I had some issues. Fire extinguisher was not updated, and when me and my friends wanted to watch tv while we ate breakfast , dinner or bed time, all the channels were locked … even spongbob lol! Some of the outlets where also not working . Other that those nuances we had a pretty good time .

Cabin needs a lot of updates/attention!

For sure we will not stay in this cabin again!! There were a lot of issues that made our stay less than acceptable. First of all, if you’re traveling with more than just 2 of you, be prepared for hearing everything upstairs and downstairs due to the rooms not being completely closed off (the upstairs bedroom has a door, but is completely open to the rafters/beams) above. We had seven in our group, so this was awful! People can whisper downstairs and you would hear the entire convo upstairs! Also, the temperature control system is not controllable in the cabin. It’s pre programmed, so during the night, it would go down to 60 degrees and be freezing! Both TVs in the bedrooms wouldn’t come on. We called and a maintenance guy came out and got the bottom bedroom TV going, but the top bedroom TV was missing a cord going to the cable box. He said he’d get it fixed and left. This was Monday. We were there until Saturday. No one came back out even though we called multiple times! Soot from the fire place is making the mantle and TV above it black! The hot tub literally looks like a bear attacked it. The top is ripped and won’t even stay on. The roof is covered with moss and needs replacing! Finally, there are 20 steps up to the cabin. If you have trouble being stable walking, all but 2 steps are missing the anti slip tape! Not safe in rain/snow! Cabin does not look like it was built in 2000! Very run down!

Lighting is horrible. Very Dem and a little dusty.

The trip was very nice and a lot of fun but feel the house could be cleaner and blown light bulbs need to be replaced. All lightbulbs should be replaced with LED to help with better lighting.

Bear Cave Haus in Gatlinburg

Do not rent this place! The location and privacy was excellent. The owner of this cabin needs to take it off the market and spend some money to repair things. There were windows warped that could not close. There was another with bad water damage and mold starting to grow. The bath tub caulking was filthy black with mold starting. The porch railing was covered with black and green algae. The hot tub was dirty and not usable. The gutters were clogged with debris, and the roof had moss and a small tree growing from the shingles. With proper TLC and the proper maintenance repairs, this would be a lovely place. If I owned this cabin, I would be embarrassed to even attempt renting it out. I would not rent this cabin again unless the owner showed me that he fixed the place!

Terrible, roaches, inch of dust and cob webs all over moldy jets in the tub and shower curtain.

I would never stay here again! Roaches!! Moldy jets couldn't use jacuzzi tubs, trash all over outside, scum ring around hot tub, no internet or tv the entire week. Dirty pull out beds. Cob webs several feet long everywhere. We are all scared we brought a roach home to our homes. House keeping says the owner won't pay for a real cleaning and boy does it show. Just plain nasty!

Stay away from this filthy cabin

First let me start with when they say you can't check in early, they mean it. We were 30 minutes early and called customer service to see if we could get in early. After a 6hr. drive, we needed a bathroom. They said no because the key pad is controlled by a computer program that can't be over rid. Really, 30 minutes early. Second we finally got in the cabin and immediately noticed an odor. Then upon bringing in our bags we noticed all the dirt, hair, dust all over the curtains, rafters, ceiling fans, and lining the wood paneling. We went to our rooms and noticed the side tables and dressers seemed dirty too. My daughter wet a rag to wipe the bedside table, and the rag was black with dirt. Within 10 minutes of being in the cabin, my daughter and myself, who have dust an mold allergies, had a splitting headache, and coughing. My eyes swelled and were blood shot. We decided to go out to eat that night, and noticed that being out of the cabin, some of our symptoms went down. However after returning, the same thing happend. We decided to go to bed and hoped we would feel better in the morning. Unfortunately we felt worse, after coughing all night and waking with a pounding headache. My eyes were so swollen and puffy. I decided to call the customer service number, and was told they could send someone out to clean. We were traveling with 3 small dogs and did not want anyone in the cabin when we weren't there. Plus I told the lady on the phone that this wasn't just simple dusting. The curtains all needed removed and washed, and the rafters and walls needed a shop vac taken to them. She said to call back when we were going to be back at the cabin. We did not want people in the cabin trying to clean when all we wanted was so relaxing time from home, and felt they would be stirring up more dirt and dust. Our bedding was also sub par, old dingy sheets, and 1 extra blanket in a closet that was covered in hair. Also sat in the hot tub, which appeared clean until we got out and found our swimsuits full of dirt. Needless to say we left a day early because we quite frankly were over it. We would have went to a hotel the first night, but we're already out the money for this dump.

Our Christmas getaway

I will definitely return in the future when I come back to Tennessee! The layout of the cabin is great. It was only me, my adult daughter, and our dog (so grateful this place was pet friendly!). For a small group, it’s perfect. We Loved the fireplace!!... We actually had a hard time getting it started on our first night, so I called and someone was there within an hour to help. Very happy with our stay here!
