Great, clean house with nice furnishings. The neighbors roosters were not a great wake up call, but you can’t control your neighbors. Loved the property and would rent again.
It was a cool little house. We enjoyed the layout and the decor very much. It was a bit dusty when we checked in (as if it may not have been rented in a while), but overall, it was a pleasant stay. It only took about 15 minutes to walk over to the River Walk and Convention Center. When we ubered back in the evening, the rates were under $10 and both drivers we used were super friendly.
The house was nice and lived up to online pictures, but the neighborhood was a bit underwhelming. Overall, it was fairly quiet. The remote to the living room ceiling didn't work and there was no dishwasher soap. Additionally, I didn't like being asked to clean up while also paying a $150 cleaning fee. Overall, I would give this place a thumbs up rating.

A rose among thorns...
The property itself was nice. It's spacious, has great amenities and is close to several restaurants, breweries and the downtown area. However, the neighborhood in which it is located is pretty rough, and extremely noisy. There are 2 houses on the same street that keep chickens and roosters, plus several barking dogs. The house directly next door has about 6 cats that like to leave presents in the yard, so watch out. The close proximity to the walking bridge is nice, but several motorcyclists, and various groups like to gather nightly on it, meaning they will pass by the house to get to and from the bridge. The railroad runs at all hours, so bring your earphones. These are not to be taken as criticisms against the property itself. It is definitely a rose among thorns.
We got this property because we wanted to be within walking distance of all of the San Antonio downtown festivities. At first sight, the neighborhood seemed a little sketchy. However, it is apparent that other property owners are doing the same thing to revive this neighborhood and it is become very user-friendly. The access to the neighborhood across the bridge was spectacular. The property was very well-kept and contained. I cannot say enough about the hosts. Due to flight and travel issues, our stay had to be changed, and these hoes were the most accommodating I've ever dealt with. responsive, professional, and would recommend anyone staying in the San Antonio area. Do you like this property or any other properties from this host. Thank you so much.
The home was really nice and rental manager was very accommodating. Just a couple things… the coffee was broken so we had to buy a new one so we could have our morning fix while we were there. Also the hair dryer in the master was broken too. For the most part it was clean but I think the cleaning company could have done a more thorough job (crumbs on the floor etc). The neighborhood is a bit sketchy… I would suggest an Uber if you want to go to the Riverwalk as you’ll need to walk through a homeless camp to get there otherwise.
I know it sounds like I’m complaining a lot but in fact we did enjoy our stay so overall I’d give it an 8.

Could have been a much nicer stay!
When we arrived, the smoke detector in the bedroom was beeping. No one could come to replace the batteries due to a holiday weekend.
Luckily, my husband found a piece of wall trim long enough to reach the button on the smoke detector which would have to be push several times throughout our stay.
Secondly, the rugs had not been vacuumed and the floors had not been swept or mopped.
Thirdly, neither tvs worked in the living room or bedroom nor were there instructions for the four tv remotes in the living room.
Lastly, thinking we may need to sleep on the pull out couch if we could not get the smoke detector stopped. We lift the couch cushions to find the most disgusting filth from previous vacationers.
Location to downtown is great. Neighborhood is sketchy. Cleaning crew needs to be fired.
This place could be very nice if someone would pay attention to detail.

Poor communication
The unit was fine overall. It could use a paint job because it definitely looked "lived in". Worked well as far as layout and size. A little better cleaning between tenants would help. A couple little things like batteries in thermostat need replacing, coffee maker didn't work and lights in bedroom were old flourescent par 40's that were really dim. LED upgrades would help. The rear door wouldn't lock all week. After several attempts to get Birdy to address the issue they called me the day before I left to explain that the lock is some "european" lock and they explained how it works. I had already been there 5 days without a locking door. Previous review mentioned the lock also. A simple fix is to put a note on the door. Although the owner of the management company was very nice all he offered was an apology for having our personal stuff unsecure for the previous 4 nights in what is a pretty run down neighborhood. San Antonio is a great town but next time I come back I will avoid this property management company.
Not a bad property, close to downtown but a noisy area of town
Overall I would give this listing a 3.5 out of 5. The reasons I would not stay there again:
Things the owner can't control:
1. Close to the Hays Street pedestrian bridge. The owners of this home really don't have control over this but there are motorcycles that for some reason think they can ride their bikes (which are loud and they drive way fast) onto this bridge so get ready to hear this while you are at the property.
2. There are also train tracks nearby. Again, not there fault and it might not bother you.
Things the owner can control:
3. Deadbolt lock on back door was broken. No way to safely secure the home (even though they make a point to say you need to make sure the home is secured)
4. Get ready to read and sign a contract they email you after you pay. Seems a little backwards to me.
5. Don't ask me to move a trashcan from the street, take my trash from inside the property and place in said trash can, and also put dirty towels in the laundry room when the cleaning fee is almost the same price as 2 nights of leasing.
6. The garbage can in the kitchen (which is an electronic one that only opens when is senses motion or you press a button) did not work. So we had to leave one small bag (grocery bag) on top of it. Not a huge issue because nothing gave an order we left in it but these are things that should be checked by the cleaning crew that is paid for by the high cleaning fee.
My wife and I travel quite a but and utilize STRs whenever we can, we really like helping small business owners but to be honest, we probably would not stay here again. It wasn't bad, it just didn't make that great of an impression on us.
The house is cute but the location is a little tough. I found it walkable to where I needed to go but the neighborhood wasn’t the most comfortable place to do so. I walked around without issue but had 3 different locals basically tell me I was out of my mind to have done it. So, that said, the house is lovely and nice to be in but plan on having a car for convenience and safety.
House is on a dead-end street and only has street parking which can be difficult if you have a large vehicle. Great for couples because of the two bedrooms with baths and the queen beds. Located really close to everything. My only complaint is that the bathroom floors could have been cleaner.
The property was very clean and well kept. The instructions regarding the property were clear. Everything worked out perfectly. And there is a unique piece to the property. It is right next to a bridge that looks out over the skyline. We enjoyed the view, took pictures and had ourselves a great time. We would definitely rent from this place again.
My family did a trip to San Antonio for New Years weekend. The house was a great fit for the 4 of us. Lots of stairs but other than that no complaints. Very close to town and everything we wanted to visit.
The stay was as described and was a nice place! Nice bedrooms and living area, however there are some drawbacks for those looking to use the space. Response by the owner was good until we got to the rental and then we could not get a hold of them. Also, just a fair warning that they do charge extra when requesting an early check in or check out, regardless of what the contract says.
1. The lower level window was left unlocked, providing for easy access to anyone to come in.
2. There was no soap for the dishwasher. Hard to start the dishwasher when leaving when there is no soap.
3, There was no laundry detergent, again tough to start the laundry when leaving if there is not detergent.
4. Missing simple kitchen items. We had to buy a can opener and coffee filters, along with salt, pepper, oil and other spices to cook.
5. No hand towels or washcloths.
