This property sits among 1500 acres ranging from an easy Interstate Highway

I-25 access to the "remote" top of the Old Raton Pass Highway. This cabin sits

at the top of the property on the Old Raton Pass; four-wheel drive _

_____**required**__. One bedroom (queen), one bath with open loft (with 2 twin

beds) newly built cabin. Kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator/freezer,

keurig, _**double electric hot plate with cooking supplies**_ , indoor ninja

grill, DVD's, TV and internet (WiFi & cell phone signals, of course depending

on your carrier some may be better than others).



This property features mind-blowing views of 3 states, incredible hiking among

the Native American ruins, fossils, rocks, plants and minerals of the high

desert. From river beds and ponds, to mini-canyons, ravines and meadows, bird

caves and many more hidden corners of the earth! Make some memories here and

truly "get away". Every kind of wildlife lives on this property so have your

camera handy: chipmunks, squirrel, turkey, bear, bobcat, cougar, elk, deer,

fox, coyote, and tons of birds from magpies to western tanagers and yes a pair

Just minuets from downtown Raton and Sugarite State Park with 3 lakes,

camping, hiking, fishing and gorgeous views. Tour the foundations and trails

of the old Sugarite mining town ruins. Eighteen miles to Trinidad, 1 hour to

Eagle's Nest, 1.5 hours to Taos and Red River. Two hours to Colorado Springs,

3 to Denver and Albuquerque. Excellent base-camp to explore the New Mexico and

Colorado Rockies.



Although this property is approximately 2 miles from town, it is about a 20

min. drive up to the top. We want guests to get all they can out of their

stay, so **we recommend getting your supplies ahead of the scheduled check-

in/meet-up.** That being said, please plan on arriving as close to check in

time as possible and __**most definitely before dark**__. We understand travel

times may be difficult to plan but we want you to get the most our of your

stay. If you need assistance to the property, you will need to arrive before

dark. We expect to guide you to the location so as to not get lost. We will

contact you for meet-up ahead of time.

Very quiet and tranquil! Had everything you need, stayed in the end of December and the two heaters worked great! Great hiking trains and 4x4 trails to see the elk!
