About this property

Bespoke Cottage, outdoor baths, wine tasting, pet friendly in Sleepers Vineyard

Private cottage set in Sleepers vineyard with stunning scenery. We have designed the cottage to relax you. In the lounge we have sheepskin covered sofas, candle lights and a wood burner fire to keep you cosy and warm on those cooler days or nights, with wood stacked at the front door, and a turntable with a selection of records to play or at the touch of a button bluetooth your own playlist. We offer a king-size bed in the main bedroom made with 100% cotton sheets. This is our red room. There is also a green relaxing second bedroom with a comfortable double bed. Ceiling fans in both the red room and the lounge keep you cool in summer. The kitchen is fully equipped for you to cook your favourite meals. Free wireless internet is provided.
Outside, the cottage is fully fenced to keep your furry family member safe with you. Unwind in the twin outdoor garden baths with continuous running hot water at the turn of the tap, designed for relaxing while you watch the sun go down and then see our breath-taking starlit night sky appear with our famous milky way, and count the shooting stars. There are two bikes in the shed at the cottage for you to enjoy a ride around the vines. We have also created pathways for you to walk along the river and in among our beautiful native trees. No need for your dog to be on a leash. On the property we also offer a cellar door in our smaller cob building, and a sensory wine tasting made for fun with candles and crystal in our larger one. Come and enjoy the cottage, the vineyard and wine grown here on the property. There is 45 hectares to explore. We are located halfway between Blenheim and Kaikoura, and just a 5-minute walk from the beach and Kekerengu’s own café “The Store”. The Kekerengu coast awaits you, with surf casting, Clarence River rafting, Winterhome gardens, seals, Nins Bin and more, all nearby.

Wonderful hideaway
This wonderful cottage in the middle of a vineyard was a perfect location for a holiday. We walked around the vineyard and across to the river, and also down to the beach and Store at Kekerengu for lunch one day. The cottage has everything you need, and the garden is well fenced and dog friendly, and surrounded by chickens, pigs and sheep. Soaking in the outdoor baths star watching was sublime. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Absolutely delightful.
Our 2nd visit to this delightful relaxing cottage nestled within ‘Sleepers Vineyard’. Unfortunately, our too short a stay was at the end of our 7 week tour of South Island, so less opportunity to drink their excellent wine. Three days of heaven chilling out, reading drinking, watching their animals antics. Thank you Lynne and Chris for being such wonderful hosts and for the delightful afternoon/evening on our final day. We very much hope to return in the near future. John & Jackie Cornell (Churt, Surrey, UK)

An incredible place to have a getaway!
We absolutely loved out stay in this beautiful cottage. To be honest we would have loved to stay longer but we are planning on going back very soon! The cottage is in the most incredible setting in the middle of a vineyard. Surrounded by hills and a painted sky. Pigs and chickens on the back fence, bird songs including Tuis, sheep everywhere and the sound of the river in the distance. I walked around the property and you could walk forever. The cottage has many warm and cosy spaces, a great kitchen, large fridge, washer and dryer. The best part was the bath tubs outside, but there is also one inside too. A perfect getaway for myself, hubby and our silly doggos who loved the yard and loved exploring!

If we could give 11/10 we would!
This amazing slice of paradise was the perfect place for two friends (and a dog named Sprocket) to get away from it all for a brief moment. The atmosphere of the property was refreshing, and soaking in the hot tubs stole any of our remaining cares. Sprocket enjoyed the grounds, but especially the warmth of the fire. Multiple paws of approval given. Lynne was a most gracious host, greeting us with a smile upon arrival as well as departure. This property has been immaculately maintained and its host should most definitely be recognised for this. You would be hard pressed to find anywhere better to get away from it all.

Our Keurkloof in NZ
We, including our little furry boy Maximus, have become regular visitors to this gorgeous, tranquil little piece of heaven. Lynn once again went out of her way to make us feel welcome and at home. We highly recommend Sleepers Vineyard if what you are looking for is to relax, enjoy quality time with your furr babies and drink some of the best wines whilst enjoying Louis the pig, the girls and chucks.

Our dogs gave 5 stars
We've just had a lovely couple of nights in this beaut little dog-friendly cottage. This was outstanding with a securely fenced yard and beautiful vineyard and river walks. The cottage was immaculately clean, thoughtful touches abound including eggs from the hens at the bottom of the yard. Very comfortable and cosy with the wood heater keeping the whole cottage warm. The cottage is surrounded by its own orchard full of wonderful native birds, which we enjoyed while soaking in the twin outdoor baths! Highly recommend for anyone wanting a tranquil getaway, yet still be within reach of the Marlborough vineyards, aviation museum and stunning coast.

Come and share our dreams ~ Sleepers are dreamers. We believe wine tasting should be fun, the vineyard is our passion. The cottage also shares our dreams - relaxing, colourful and bespoke. We love colour and comfort. The cottage is pet friendly, we love dogs, We own a German Shepard called Xyla and she is a member of our family.
It always surprises me how nature and the beauty around refreshes the soul. We love our vineyard and its animals. We have our Kune Kune pigs, Louis, and the Brontë Sisters. Charlotte, Emily, and Anne. also our Gotland sheep, free range hens, the pond full of Pekin ducks. We love growing herbs, we have many down at the cottage for you to enjoy.
We have planted many trees to bring different types of birds, morning and evening song is so beautiful, we love it and hope you do too.
We have also created places in our property for you to enjoy with tables to sit and absorb nature, down by the river, put your feet in the running cool water, on our top block for stunning mountain views or sitting in our native tree are listening to the birds. We do have an out door fire for the cottage , it is there to use when there is no fire risk.
We have placed two out door baths one if you choose to share or two if you like more bubbles and set your own temperature.
We are very happy to meet you and share our dreams.

Why they chose this property

What is quite cool is Sleepers vineyard has the intersection of Latitude 42 S and Longitude 174 E; and a past life as Kekerengu Station.
We have Cobs built in 1860 now fully restored. The former Kekerengu Station Head shepherd's cottage is where our tasting room and cellar door is found, and the former Kekerengu Station Dining Room/Bunkhouse, which could sleep up to 36 shearers, is now home to our Sensory Overload experience, with candles, crystal glasses and fun with wine pairing, let us wow you. Bring your bikes or use ours, ride through the vines or in Kekerengu valley. Enjoy your own spot down near the gentle Kekerengu river where a table is placed by the waters edge or walk up to our own Oriental Bay where you can sit at look a the country scenery. Come and enjoy my happy places. We are vaccinated and I deep clean before you arrive and after you leave. We are a working vineyard, so we let you know what we are up to and keep you aware of any machinery in use.

What makes this property unique

Park your car on arrival, there is no need to drive anywhere. We have Sleepers cellar door and unique wine tasting options, amazing walks in the vineyard and along the river for you and your dog, and off road bikes for you to use. There are only limited places around the property to get mobile reception, perfect for a time away. We have fantastic views and places set up for you to have fun and make memories.
