Very good location if the water level was higher, which hurt the fishing from the dock.Over all nice and quiet!

Peaceful Getaway for Two
It was a great location. There are 2 marinas real close to property. Owners personal care products left out, we felt the need to clean up space to make room in the small kitchen. The back screened in porch was a comfortable place to take in the beautiful evening sunsets.
Address in Vrbo was different than address from Owner.
Quiet location at the end of the cove with great views! We loved having access to the lake and took the canoe out twice. Screen porch was also nice to enjoy breakfast! Description shows 2 twin bunk beds & a full bed, but the bunk beds were full, so we didn't have the correct sheets with us. But overall it was a great getaway in a peaceful setting.
My wife and stayed at this property for our 25th anniversary and we had a the most relaxing, amazing time. The house is located in the back of a quiet cove. Just a perfect place to enjoy the lake without a lot of distractions. We loved it!
Great little getaway. Quiet neigborhood, very secluded for waterfront property. Easy process with owners. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.
This small house on a cove of Smith Mountain Lake was the perfect retreat spot for my husband and me. We absolutely loved the large screen porch, facing the lake. We also loved the simplicity of this cozy cottage. We spent 5 days & never left the property! We never turned on the TV. We drove away already talking about when we could come again.
There is a public boat launch less than 5 minutes away and their dock is perfectly secluded like the cottage. Although there are only two bedrooms there is plenty of room inside and out. The deck and screened in porch area are wonderful for evening lounging and the yard is HUGE! It is convenient to several local restaurants by boat or by car. The hosts are friendly and very accommodating. Don't miss out on this hidden gem.
John and Sandy are the Key's to a great stay at SML.
The house is exactly as described. It is fully stocked with everything you need. Plenty of room outside on the screened porch and large deck. Knowing the water was well water ahead of time helped us plan. We will rent here again!
Over all the stay was good. The computer screen that doubled as a TV was not exactly what I am used to. Could not get the speakers hooked up to get better sound.
As you stated the water was brown and not very appealing.
But that was to be expected. The view from the house in cove looking out the window was great.
Overall I had a good time.

Once again my wife and I had an amazing stay!!! Great location. Peaceful. We have stayed at this property 2 years in a row. Looking forward to staying again next year.
We had a great time staying at the cabin, using the paddle boat on the lake and just leaving the world of wifi and high tech behind. It was a wonderful base point to set out from to hike to the waterfalls and explore the many arts and craft shops. There's so much to see and do. It will be fun for the whole family. Already looking forward to next time.
My son and I really enjoyed our time here, they have just about everything you need outside of food and bedding. We did a lot of fishing during our stay and even rented a pontoon boat for a day, we both caught several largemouth bass and even one smallmouth that was about three pounds. When we weren't fishing we spent our time hanging out on the beautiful deck grilling food, taking in the views, and listening to music, the stereo was great and the music station they had it was the best. Can't wait to get back up there.
Quiet and peaceful little cottage with a nice deck (half is screened in) overlooking Smith Mountain Lake. Perfect for three of us needing a home base for Martinsville race 1 hour away from cottage. Thanks for making our trip easier.

About the host

Welcome to The Key Hole. We have owned this property since 2003. It has been a blessing to our family. We are a family of five with three girls who have grown up paddle boating up to the “Carp Store,” tubing behind the boat, doing the polar plunge over Easter break, and catching hundreds of brim in their “nest.” We have our best family times here and are hoping you will too!
