Beachside Cottage. Le Bons Bay. Akaroa


Only 90 minutes from Christchurch you will find "LuLu's place" it is a real old school kiwi bach.
We are a twenty minute drive from Akaroa which has a number of amenities and a short distance from a number of walks if you want to explore the rest of the Peninsula.
Lulus place is situated at 907 Le bons bay road on a nice rustic section full of native birds and vegetation.
The property is a 3 minute walk from the beach and the domain that contains a tennis court, kids play ground, flying fox, basketball hoop and rope swing.
It's a happy place for our family and we hope you can enjoy it as much as we do.
The bach has some old school quirks, but is comfortable and homely.
You have the use of 2 bedrooms both with double beds there is also a pull out couch in the lounge, a seperate bathroom and shower and an open plan lounge/kitchen.
At 60sq metres it's not the world's biggest but its dry and cosy.
There is a few mod cons like wifi and a smart TV. But mainly it's about being close to the beach and enjoying one of Banks Peninsulas best bays in a beautiful setting.
It can be cold at nights and heaters are provided. In winter we suggest bringing an extra blanket if you feel the cold it can get a bit chilly.
We provide clean sheets, pillows and duvets on the beds. Also bath mats and kitchen cloths.
Please provide your own towels.
Please enjoy "Lulus place" as much as we do, but respect her old rickety ways.

Perfect weekend

Real old style kiwi bach with great retro feel. More explanation about what bed linen and where blankets are located would be helpful. Great location, close to the beach. Delightful flair and attention to detail of Kiwi bach authenticity. Fantastic space for barbecuing and children playing. Our extended family really enjoyed it.

What a gift to share this Bach experience
If you are after a quintessential NZ Bach experience this is it. Great host communications great. We were there in a high wind event no power or internet and it was so comfortable with large hot water cylinder and bbq. A blessing to share this family bach

Real kiwi bach experience
The bach is old but cute with lots of character. Loved the retro art and interiors. Winter break so was chilly. Could do with an extra heater or two... glad we brought one with us. Location is great! We had a very chilled weekend and spent lots of time by the river and beach.

Very peaceful. Scenery is beautiful.House is small but cosy and clean.Plenty of walks,down beach,through forest eta. Only noise is the wild birds and the sea. A true Gem.

A slice of paradise!
A comfortable stylish true Kiwiana bach, off the beaten track, a wee slice of untouched New Zealand - just the way it used to be. From the well equipped cosy home to the beach, local domain (including basketball hoop, playground and flying fox) you have all you need for a chill weekend away from the hustle. Fantastic friendly hosts with excellent communication, make it a stress free easy weekend away.

What you need

Little retro batch by the beach
Vacuum cleaner was found broken which might be the reason the last person could not clean after their stay. Other than that, it was a little retro batch easy to fall in love with.

Self clean not ideal
Self clean may not be the greatest idea if the vacuum cleaner pipe is broken and you can’t clean, we had to find tape to fix the pipe to do clean. Also the bathroom has no curtain for privacy and the neighbours can see you get out of the shower. People before us left the sheets half washed so we had to re wash and hang sheets we did not even use. Beds did not have sheets as per website on beds which was ok as we brought our own. Website needs to be clear we are not overlooking the actual beach which is the impression you get on the pictures, but 3 mins walk away. Oven is past its used by date and really needs to be replaced. Overall we had a good time . My apologies if this is too critical but I think the truth is a good help for the future. Kind Regards Roz

Rustic bach, lovely spot
The bach is rustic but has lots of personality and is clearly a family bach. It is in a lovely settlement near but not next to the beach. Very quiet area with natural beauty and lots of birds. We enjoyed a restful stay.

Classic Bach stay
If you like the idea of staying at a friends bach then this is the place for you. Not sparkly clean like an motel but homely. Plenty of owners family stuff on site, but you wont go short of any utensils , shampoo etc if you forget! Take your own drinking water as water is supplied from a tank filled off the roof. Hopefully the owner will take a couple of suggestions such as replacing the blankets hung at the bedroom windows with curtains, serviceable but..... Nice deck and chairs and interesting artwork in the lounge. Overall a nice stay but remember its a homely bach not a fancy place to impress the girlfriend!

Great little Bach
Pulling up to the Bach was just how was as a kid, eager to get inside and we were not let down!!! LuLu’s place is a beautiful bach with next to everything you’ll need. Communication was perfect & Adam was great to speak with. Beach is a good spot for a walk, with heaps of shells & views. All round great spot, will definitely be back. Thanks Adam ☺️

Great wee classic kiwi bach. Clean and tidy. Great stay in a cracker spot. Very busy with 'stuff' everywhere. Minimalists will not enjoy! Not enough vinyl (lp's)! Thanks for sharing. Highly recommended.
