A really enjoyable and relaxing stay in a perfectly located west coast Bach. We had a lovely time exploring the surrounding beaches and tracks. The Bach is well appointed and presented with especially cosy bed linen. Thanks Nikki
The location was a perfect in-between of Punakaiki and Greymouth, it was super easy to navigate different areas so explore and the view of the beach from the bedroom was fantastic. The toilet was composting which was an interesting experience and there was little to no service which made one on one time the focus. Our 5 year old throughly enjoyed the stay and it definitely ignited a love of weka and the beautiful environment.Overall it’s a beautiful property and a great place for family bonding.Thank you again for sharing your property with us!
Worst booking ever!We ended up not staying at this property and had to make alternative arrangements. There was only one bed made up for 4 people on arrival at 5pm on Saturday afternoon. Could only email owners and no response for hours. The only toilet is an outside drop toilet which is NOT advertised on the website..This needs to be made clear so people can make informed decisions about whether this is the right place for them. Owners refused any refund - not even a good will gesture. What a rip off!
I enjoyed this secluded accommodation which took us away from the hustle and bustle of modern busy life. The toilet was a big surprise and a good learning experience ! Would recommend.
What a stunning bach in a stunning place.
Perfect place to take Mum on her first visit to NZ
Our aim was to show off our home provide a real kiwi get away beach experience and we certainly achieved that
Absolutely iconic Kiwi batch, very clean, comfy bed, so well appointed. The access track down to the beach is a bit tricky but more than with it...what a magic place. We loved it!
Loved our family stay at the Blue Bach. The view was stunning, even in the rain and wonderful when the sun came out. All the beds were super comfy. Thank you!
Fantastic stay, well equipped & spacious. Have the sound of the surf to lull you to sleep…loved staying here, handy to the Paparoa track which we biked. Reccommended!
We loved staying at this wee West Coast gem! The beach (which is located down a track below the house) was stunning, as were the sunsets.
There was everything we needed in the house for our Coast to Coast team for a few days pre-race.
This property did not advertise WiFi which was honest, but they failed to note that cell reception was spotty at best. It was very difficult, sometimes impossible, to access any internet sites from our phone. Given that my husband had a business meeting, this was a big problem. Also, when we first came in, the musty smell was overwhelming, though it did dissipate pretty quickly with open windows. The just wants guests to wash their own dishes, which seems fair, but most of the dishes seemed to have a slight greasy film from not being washed well, so we had to wash them twice. There were spider webs on almost every window opening. The composting toilet is in an outhouse so it isn’t great for older folks who need to use the toilet in the middle of the night. There is a stunning view, but the beach access was not easy. Overall, the place has some charm, but it is rustic. Go with the right expectations!
Authentic Kiwi Bach with a beautiful view!
We had the pleasure of staying in the little blue bach for three nights and just had the best time. Collecting rocks, Seeing the starfish on the beach (low tide only) the Wekas were a delight to watch and making s’mores on the fire pit was the kids personal fav. A must do for anyone wanting a bit of peace and quiet from their busy lives. We can’t wait to come back!
We had great great stay. We had family staying who were in there mid to late 70s and the long drop toilet was a but of a hassle.
But we really enjoyed our weekend away
We stayed 4 days and thoroughly enjoyed staying there. There was everything you need for a short term or long term stay. Lovely veranda at the back, out of the wind. We did some good half day hikes. I would really recommend it to anyone.
P.s. Very little to no mobile reception here which was not a problem for us. Meant that we enjoyed the book collection even more!
The batch is perfectly situated between Punakaiki, Paporoa track (we run the cycle loop daily) and Greymouth with all the needed facilities. The view out of the kitchen and main bedroom are stunning, even during a ranging Westcoast storm. The nearby beaches are out of another world and we took stunning photos Nik is a responsive and excellent host. If possible I will definitely visit it again.☺️
Typical Kiwi Bach
Thought it was expensive for what it offered
Needs privacy curtain between front bedroom and living area
Loo out the back was a bit of a challenge
Beds very comfortable Kitchen fully equipped
Loved the firebox Had to go out to get matches
All in all an enjoyable 3 nights with good company
Nikki’s blue bach is a rustic offline Beaut. The location is along our favourite coastal drive of the South Island. We loved the proximity to Punakaiki, also the challenging climb to Mount George behind her place, and the privacy of Motukiekie Beach. Nikki’s place has a new kitchen and a delightfully comfortable bed and a sunset view for years of memories. We appreciate your dedication to environmental stewardship with your outdoor compostable loo. We have learned from your leadership. Thank you.
