A North Carolina landscape architect has stated that our house is on one of the most ideal lots for a mountain house he has ever seen. We are located on the flat crest of a mountain which allows for a level, spacious yard with dramatic drop offs creating pristine mountain views in three directions. On the slopes surrounding the yard is an orchard with over fifty varieties of fruit trees whose fruit can sampled right off the tree. Our home is surrounded by beautiful hardwood forests. We are one minute from a community pool, lake with paddleboats, clubhouse, walking paths, and other amenities which are available to our guests. To the east of our lot is Elk Creek which is a class "A" stream stocked each spring with trout. When the water is high one can kayak this gorgeous creek banked with the blossoms of Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron. To the west of our lot is Laurel Creek which is one of the most enchanting waterways on the planet with its crystal clear water, jeweled trout, wildflowers, rapids, and waterfalls.
Our home is newly constructed, energy efficient, and made from nontoxic and natural materials. For the months of June, July, and August, the upstairs is closed off with a locked door and not used by renters or the homeowner. For September through May the upstairs is closed off with a locked door from the rented down stairs, and it is accessed by the owner from a separate outdoor stairwell so that the owner does not pass through any rented space when the owner may be staying in the upstair. Because of this, we have not described or photographed it in any part of this listing. All interior spaces that are described in this listing are spaces used only by renters. What we are renting is the downstairs which has two bedrooms (one queen bed and two single beds), a large bathroom, a laundry room, a fully stocked eat-in kitchen, and a living area. The down stairs has internet and direct TV. Appliances include a refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, washer, and dryer. All rooms have gracious windows which allow for an abundance of light and offer excellent mountain views. In addition, the spacious living area has a sleeper sofa that can sleep two. The living room opens out onto an expansive covered porch which runs the length of the house. From the porch one can look out across a valley and into a mountain range over which the sun and moon rise.
