Beautiful getaway up north

Great property with a beautiful view of the lake. Ammenities were excellent, and the availability of paddle boards and kayaks included was really cool. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a low key getaway

Beautiful view, a little noisy

Really beautiful view, great area, hosts were responsive and helpful. Unfortunately, they were building a new structure near by that meant we had construction noise starting early in the morning and continuing most of the day, sometimes well into the evening. That made the time in the cabin itself a lot less peaceful and relaxing than we had hoped. Fortunately during most of the stay we were able to spend most of our time by the lake where there was a lot less noise, but one day we were forced to stay inside because of the rain, and that was not nice at all. That's a temporary issue so won't affect guests once the construction is done, but something we wish we had known about before booking. Also, we rented the boat and ended up running out of gas in the middle of the lake. The host assured us there would be plenty of gas for the day, and we were on the lake about a 5 hours altogether, a least a quarter of which was idling or trolling slowly. So it was definitely a surprise to run out of gas. Still, they came out there and rescued us.

Nice stay.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights with our dog. Beautiful view from high up. The cabin is old but has had most of it updated. Furniture and beds very comfortable. We didn’t cook much inside but seemed to have most of what you would need. Very little water pressure in shower. We weren’t able to use the boat since the day we planned it for was cold and rainy..😢We did hang out on the very nice dock one afternoon and it was great. There is no air conditioning but since it was cooler (70’s)when we were there it was ok. I can see it could get warm in the cabin if it was much warmer. The railing missing at the top set of stairs does seem like that should be added. I was a bit nervous myself going down them. Communication with owner was great.

Wonderful view from the top of the lake

Beautiful view from the top of a small wooded hill at the northern end of the lake. Patio area was well furnished and also had the great view. Lakefront fine for swimming, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard, all included.

Family get together.

The view was beautiful. The biggest disapointment for me was the lack of railing going down to the lake. Virgil could handle it but I could not. The ladder to the loft was challenging to our 2 great grands ages 8 & 10 but then it became fun. Fishing was not very good. It was nice to have a table that seated 8. The appliances were good.

Perfect spot on the lake!

We had a great time at this cabin! The beautiful view of the lake from the large window was breathtaking every morning. We loved sitting down by the lake and paddleboarding and kayaking around the water. There were lots of places to sit and hang out outside, we especially liked eating outside at the table and looking out at the lake. Everything was clean and comfortable inside the cabin. It's only about 40 minutes from Duluth so it was easy to drive into Duluth for an evening as well. This cabin was everything we were looking for for a relaxing bachelorette weekend with friends!

Beautiful Views

We enjoyed our stay at this property. Views from the cabin are picturesque. Very clean and in good condition. The owner, Eric, is very responsive and helpful. The 50 gallon water heater only regenerates once a day so we tried to conserve but with 6 adults staying, we usually ran out of hot water before the end of the day. The trade off for the view is there are about 40 steps down to the lake. The access to the loft is a sturdy built-in ladder, so best suited for older kids or young adults who are able to climb up and down the ladder.

Rest and Relaxation

This is a beautiful place for a getaway from the busy-ness of life. The cabin is surrounded by the colors of fall in the woods around it. It sits high above the lake giving the most beautiful view of the entire lake. We loved going down to the beach, wading in the water, sitting on the dock in the most comfortable chairs ever!, and taking the kayaks out. We even had an eagle fly right over us. The peace here was perfect in every way. The cabin has comfortable seating to relax by the big windows looking out at the lake, and it has everything we needed while we spent our week there. This place is tops on our list of all the other places we have stayed.

Great Family Vacation!

Very nice, we love the simplicity of it, and the older style of the cabin. Our family very much appreciated the free use of paddle boards and kayaks. Had an awesome time on the pontoon and cought a lot of fish. Great vacation!

Beautiful Cabin and View

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The cabin and view were amazing. There was plenty of space for 4 adults and 4 kids. The 4 kids made a Big bed in the loft and it was perfect for them. Ages 8, 8, 6, & 5. Eric was very easy to communicate with and answered all my questions promptly. There are a lot of stairs down to the lake but they also have a pathway that makes it easier if stairs are hard for you. The kids had so much fun swimming and playing down there. The beds say Queen but they are a queen frame with full mattress so just a heads up if that makes a difference to you. Thank you so much for the fabulous day and amazing views!

Great views, nice lake, responsive owner

Our family really enjoyed our recent week at this Sturgeon Lake cabin. We had two pairs of marriage adults, and 3 18+ young adults -- two of them slept in the loft, and the other slept in the large "closet" (with bunk bed) off the kitchen. The cabin has a wonderful view of the lake. Decor is a typical wood-panel cabin, with a smallish kitchen area, but large living area with a sectional and several comfortable chairs. More interior lighting would be nice (an improvement that I suggested to the owner). There are about 40 steps to the lake, but we knew that when we made the reservation from the pictures. The top-most final set of ~ 10 steps doesn't have a railing currently, which could be an issue for older individuals that want something to hold on to, or to catch themselves if they lose their balance. Owner said he is hoping to add a railing to this section sometime this fall. No A/C, but fans available. We made considerable use of the provided canoes, kayaks, and stand-up-paddles. Lake is a good size for water activities -- we did a bunch of water skiing. Owners are very responsive -- they live next door, and brought over a couple kitchen items that we asked about, but they were never intrusive. One thing to be aware of is that the water heater is 50 G, but only regenerates at night ("off-peak meter"). So, if you have 5-6+ individuals, you need to conserve your use of hot water, or you'll run out. 4.5 stars due to the hot water issue, rounded up to 5 stars for this review.

Ideal Minnesotan summer getaway

Perfect getaway for our family of 5. Eric was an exceptional host and very responsive. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone who is looking for the true Minnesotan summer experience. There’s no AC which was exactly what we needed to stay outside, on or in the lake and to spend time together. We didn’t turn the tv on once. The experience was just what we needed to reconnect and recharge. We loved it!

Annual family vacation

Great little cabin. The only issue we had was there wasn’t enough hot water for all five of us to shower. If you have an elderly parent you are taking, the stairs we’re a bit much to get to the lake front. Great fire pit with plenty of wood and any questions I had were answered promptly. Would highly recommend this place!

Stunning!

Stunning was the first word that came to mind and I texted Eric when we arrived and walked into cabin. The huge window overlooking the lake was amazing. The cabin was immaculate and information about its use was clear. I had communicated with Eric several times prior to our visit as I was nervous taking our new puppy (6mos) on his first lake trip. He was kind and patient with all my questions. We had a lovely time in the lake and hiking at J Cooke State park. It was quiet and perfect. I hope we will be able to book it again soon!

Mid-week gathering of friends

The lake is beautiful, the cabin is a good very basic set-up. The sleeping beds are good for 4 adults. The other beds, in the loft and front closet, are really for children. The long steps down to the lakeside are very uneven and the railings are weak where they are attached and missing for one full flight of stairs. The shoreline is beautiful and the dock was great. The landscaping is beautiful. Parking is very easy. Easy drive from the twin-cities.
