Weekend getaway

Weekend trip with family. Home is a cabin, so very small and older. No air-conditioning so be prepared if weather is warm. The water has a very strong sulfur smell when running. You will need to bring water for drinking, brushing your teeth. The owners did advise us of this, but .there was also very low water pressure as well.Home needs a liitle more upkeep, Surrounding view is beautiful, kayak use on property was an added plus.

Graduation week!

Had to clean before moving in: swept and mopped floor, vacuumed porch but didn't attempt to clean off car porch! Other than that we had a great time! Graduation week was fabulous! Fishing, laughter, eating, rocking my great- grands! What a blessing!

Peaceful Place

Cabin is in a peaceful spot - right on Craig Creek. Wonderful to sit out on the screened porch and watch & listen to the creek. Great yard for dogs. Be prepared to climb up & down some steps to get up into Cabin. Cabin has window A/C units which is needed in warmer months.

On the river

Great location - right on the river, with access if you want to swim or put in a canoe. House has a wonderful screened porch that looks at over the river - perfect to sit out and enjoy your morning coffee or just read a good book. Yard is great for dogs. Be prepared to climb some steps to get up into the house.

Perfect Family Getaway

This was exactly what we were looking for in a place to stay with two families with children. The house was adorable with extremely comfortable beds and pillows. The screened in porch was wonderful and the views from the porch and living area are so peaceful. The owner was extremely quick to respond to any questions I had before and during the trip and was very helpful in recommending things to do and see in the area. If you are looking for a place to stay that is located near lots of things to do and see, this is the place for you. We would love to make plans to come back again!

Great week at the cabin!

Loved the location, privacy, and quiet surroundings. Everything was great, and the water was just like any other Sulphur water. It has a smell, but it works! Plus, there was a full bottle of water in the water cooler when we arrived. We enjoyed sitting down by the water and watching the ducks float by. We communicated both with Evolve, and with the local contact, and everyone was helpful and quick to reply. Would not hesitate to stay again!

Tranquility on Craigs Creek

Lovely setting to have a small family gathering. There was a gate on the deck which was great protection for our 1.5 year old grandson. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was great. We did a lot of cooking. There are plenty of pots and pans, but lacked bowls and pyrex dishes for baking and/or serving dish. Luckily I brought along my one large bowl for baking my PA Dutch potato filling. We all visited and hiked @ Roaring Run National Park. Great visit.

Picturesque setting!

This cabin is in a heavenly setting!! You’re surrounded by mountains, trees, and a creek; all visible throughout the cabin. There is a well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture, and kayaks to enjoy as well (just not in winter, lol). The porch swing was delightful to sit and listen to the creek that is only steps from the cabin. I can’t wait to come back in nicer weather. It is truly an escape from life!

We loved it!

The property was exactly as expected. The house was great and the property is beautiful! We started and ended our days on the screened in porch, and spent the rest of the time swimming, driving back roads and seeing everything we could. Check in was easy and we had no issues with the house itself... The Sulphur water is smelly, but we were made aware of that and knew what to expect, so it wasn’t an issue. We would definitely stay again and would absolutely recommend it.

cottage on creek

Water was so strong with sulfur smell, you couldn't brush your teeth, take a bath, or cook with it. When arriving, grass wasn't mowed, cobwebs all over outside. Inside, smelled like dog!, floors were sticky and had dog hair. Fry pans had to be washed before using. Bedding in closet smelled like dog. One bedroom had bugs coming in from window and dog hair on the bed. There were 2 t.v.s but only 1 worked. Not enough lighting to navigate outside steps. No easy access to creek. Stores are half hour away.

Theresa is fantastic

The cabin is well represented by the web site. It was very clean. We enjoyed the screened in deck, outside deck, fire pit and kayaking on the creek. It's a good distance from civilization and few places around you. The cabin has more stuff in it than I was expecting. Shampoo and some toiletries, a full kitchen, I honestly thought it was more like someone's house that I'd rented than a cabin because there was everything you could possibly think of there. Hospitality: The owner was especially helpful when we were there. She responded to text, email and calls quickly and gave us advice on the area. I felt like she thought of just about everything. Bugs: Yes of course there are. Bring a can of insect fogger and walk around the perimeter of the lawn with it. We did that and within hours the bugs were mostly gone, and we were able to sit outside even at night and enjoy the camp fire and running stream. Sulfur in water: Yes, it isn't perfect but there was a water cooler with 5 gallon bottles of water in the kitchen so there was no need to worry about bringing enough fresh water. It reminded me of a destination I went to in the Rocky Mountains that had natural hot water springs that smelled a bit like sulfur - some places you have to pay extra for the minerals in the water, though I would prefer not to have the smell in the water. All in all, it was everything we hoped for, and we had a spectacular time.

Really dirty

First impression, this cabin was very dirty . deep down dirty . please understand it wasn't someone stayed one weekend and the maid didn't make it to clean . it had not been cleaned in a while . being sence we came from mighigan we couldn't just leave . so we spent hours cleaning so we felt comfortable enough to hang out a bit . we swept, mopped(twice),disinfected kitchen & bathroom ,washed bedding&rugs . this was after I received an email saying Teresa didn't mind what time we check in "the cabin is ready" so imagine our surprise. The owners charge for a guest to bring a dig , which is quite funny considering the cabin was full of dig hair and dog food under everything in the kitchen. . Screen in porch was beautiful but extremely dirty as well . yard has a great view of creek but we didn't enjoy that either being the grass was long wet and Virginia has poisonous snakes. . when,I addressed these bug issues with the owner , I asked for 2 nights reimbursed . I booked it for 3 nights . we cleaned the first and left the third night because we just couldn't relax. I will be reimbursed for 1 night ( Thankyou teresa) but I'm still requesting another nights money back .

Great location

Cabin is very clean and comfortable. Located in the middle of all things the area has to offer. My family fished the James River several days and couldnt ask for a better location. Great property. Only issue was as others have stated is the water smells really bad. You get used to it but it is strong.

Just as it was listed.

Creek access was great. My son was able to land more than a dozen fish over 2 evenings. The yard was large and inviting for outdoor activities. As other reviews have stated the water has a terrible smell. Seems like the only thing that could make the property much nicer would be to remedy this smell. I would stay again. The owners did provide a water cooler with water for drinking and cooking. Be sure to take any groceries as the nearest grocery store is Quite a drive. The Kroger in Clifton Forge is the closest thing to a full grocery store.

We loved our stay at the cabin on Craig creek. It was just what we needed for our quiet family getaway. We spent HOURS in the creek, it was perfect for our kids (ages 5, 6, and 8). There was alot of hiking nearby which was a plus. We would definitely come back.
