FISHING

It’s the best. Walleye, perch, pike, carp and of course, CATFISH! Lake Erie is known for some of the best fishing around.

We have quite the shallow lake front which will allow you to wade quite far. Plus we have a boat launch at the end of the lane!

If switching it up from the cottage, here are some of the top spots near us:

Bob Baigent Memorial Park - There is a free, municipal ramp here with deeper water to launch your boat.

Dunnville Bridge - Both Upper and Lower Grand River can be accessed and because of the dam, it is a hub for carp.

Kinsmen Park - Fish from the shore or platform. Easy access the other side of the bridge.

LaFortune Park - The water slows down quite a bit here, launch your boat from Harrison Landing next door and do some fishing. Great for perch.

Moulton Bay - The wind on the lake can act pretty rough, but in the Bay it’s much more controlled making an easier launch from Mohawk Marina.

Nanticoke Habour - A favourite location for perch and walleye. Launch from Hoover Marina. PS. They also have a fabulous restaurant!

Port Maitland East - Much less windy on the eastern side, there is a free municipal boat ramp located here. Caledonia Bait & Tackle says to target perch or walleye in this area.

Port Maitland Esplanade & Pier - Highly recommended spot tor entering Lake Erie. There is a boat ramp available and shoreline fishing is good.

Seneca Park - Not too busy and is a great spot to do some fly fishing. It’s fairly shallow, meaning you can wade out quite far.

York Park - Shoreline and fly fishing are very popular here. Tons of carp.

Waterfront Way Trail - Shallow, calmer water. You can fish off the pedestrian bridge or wade the water.

Sandusk Creek - Sheltered and shallow. Find lots of perch, bass and catfish.

FALL / WINTER

We are a FOUR season cottage available 365 days a year. In colder months, there’s still lots to enjoy! From hiking local trails to enjoying the view of the Lake Erie’s ice caps from your own backyard to visiting local historic landmarks, wineries/breweries or the Simcoe Panorama - come enjoy this winter wonderland for yourself!

Here for a longer stay? We are only 90 minutes from Toronto, Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake. We can provide you with many recommendations during your stay - just ask!

Please note: Selkirk Oasis uses a cistern and septic system for waste management. Chilled water will be provided via water cooler.

Beautiful view of the lake

My husband and I came for a weekend getaway. The property was exactly as described and depicted with a beautiful view of the lake. We were there in the winter so I cannot speak to the summertime activities. We enjoyed the indoor gas fireplace and even the outdoor gas fire pit.

Relaxing stay by the lake.

Cute little cottage by the lake. Nice accommodations, great large back yard, beautiful view of the lake, and access to the water directly from the cottage. We had a fun and relaxing time. Great place for paddleboarding, and there's a provincial park nearby which the hosts have provided a pass for. Great stay.

My family

I did not stay there. My son, his wife, grandson and wife and two small children really loved their overnight stay there. Now I think I paid extra for two adults that ended up not staying. Not sure if I qualify for a refund?

Great stay!

We had a great stay overall! The location was fantastic, right on the water, and just a short drive from the provincial park, which was a big plus. The only downside was the number of spiders around the property. It may have been due to the time of year, but there were webs covering the outdoor furniture, making it unusable. Although the interior was clean upon arrival, we did notice a considerable number of spiders inside as well. Despite this, we would still recommend the property!

Had the most wonderful and relaxing time. The house was clean and beautifully decorated, very welcoming. Then there’s the view! Stunning! Mattresses and sheets were very comfortable and had the best sleep listening to the light laps of the lake. My friend and I wanted a little getaway to unwind and rejuvenate and this was the perfect place. Our hosts were most welcoming and we appreciated their kindness. Can’t wait to come back for another stress free weekend.

Nice and relaxing place

Loved the property. Had a very relaxing time off. Lake water in the backyard wasn’t deep, kids walked around where there was no sea weed. Would love to go back again… hopefully next year. Rebecca was cool!!!

Gorgeous location and outside space …

Three seniors visited for the Friday the 13th events in Port Dover. We were extremely pleased and happy with our find. As the sun began to set, however, we became aware of just how poor the lighting was inside; not only in the living room but two bedrooms as well. Also, when it came time for dinner, the oven wasn’t working. To top it off, there was no cell service. It was a shame, but we had to cut our stay short.

Pleasant getaway

Took a 2 day getaway just to recharge and it was great! Rebecca was a great host easy to communicate with and helped with all inquiries. Cottage is cute and clean! To fault of Mother Nature the lake had a bit of a seaweed build up. However I was able to create a plank at the shoreline with wood supplied to accommodate the issue so my pup and I were able to enjoy warm water swimming! Would definitely stay again.

Lovely Vacation

I recently stayed here with my family and our dog, and we had an excellent experience. The cottage itself is beautifully designed and incredibly clean. What truly stood out was the outstanding attention to detail. The owners provided all the essentials and even added thoughtful touches like binoculars, a variety of games, and a parking pass to the nearby provincial park. Communication with the hosts was quick and friendly, ensuring we felt welcome and well-informed throughout our stay. The only downside was that the water was filled with algae, which unfortunately prevented us from swimming. However, this was beyond the owners’ control and did not significantly dampen the experience. Overall, I highly recommend this property for anyone looking to enjoy a cottage with fantastic views and excellent host support. Our family and dog had a wonderful time!
