The Point at Ocqueoc - Quiet Ocqueoc Lakefront Two Bedroom Cottage

Nicely appointed and beautifully located two bedroom one bath cottage with 80 feet of frontage on 130 acre, quiet, no-wake Ocqueoc (say AH-key-ock) Lake. Sleeps 4 with a king bed and 2 singles. Wifi enabled fiber optic internet service and a 32" smart TV included. The kitchen is outfitted with an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, drip coffee maker, Keurig style coffee maker, and more. The attached deck off the living room with outdoor seating and gas grill is a great place to enjoy the breathtaking views overlooking the lake. Our lakeside deck just a few stair steps away from the back door offers gorgeous sunsets, a peaceful setting for your morning coffee, unobstructed sunbathing, or just "on the water but dry" lake enjoyment right at the edge of the lake. Beautiful views, abundant wildlife, fishing, boating, kayaking, and canoeing, including a three hour float, with one short portage over Ocqueoc Lake Rd., via the Ocqueoc River right from our dock to Lake Huron. Your stay includes the use of our 14 foot row boat, gas grill, private dock, and all the amenities. The Point at Ocqueoc is located 20 minutes to Rogers City, Onaway, and Black Lake; 30 minutes to Cheboygan and Indian River; less than an hour to the Mackinac Bridge. Enjoy the peacefulness and quiet solitude of lakefront living on this beautifully pristine lake, the entire west side of which is state-owned, undeveloped land. Truly, an up-north lake where you can experience nature absent the crowded lakeshore of the more developed lakes in the state. A public boat launch is located on the south end of the lake for the launching of your fishing boat or pontoon. Canoes and kayaks can be launched right from in front of the cottage via our private dock. No smoking. Pet guest limited to one adult dog weighing less than 25 pounds. $35 pet fee will be charged. $59 short stay fee will apply to stays of less than 5 nights. Written rental agreement including pet addendum (if applicable) to be completed separately after registration.

The Pointe

Great location, well equipped cabin with a great variety of outdoor and indoor toys provided ( boat, fishing poles, cornhole, etc.)Would recommend purchasing a Michigan Passport. Many State Parks nearby that require the Passport to enter.

This is the perfect, quiet, cozy cabin for a weekend getaway

Craig and Laurie were excellent hosts for me and my partner’s long weekend away. The cabin on their property sits alongside their own vacation rental, but you have a private backward and private access to the lake with a small dock with a row boat. It was perfect! Craig and Laurie were very thorough with information (they email directions to get to the cabin with helpful tidbits on getting in which were very nice to have arriving very late at night!) and were very communicative, reaching out several times leading up to the stay to ask if we had any questions or concerns. The home was very clean and very nicely put together. They include lots of fun activities that would have been great for more adults or children; a cabinet full of games and cards, cornhole, and a binder full of nearby places to visit and things to do. We chose to stay at the cabin most of our time to relax, and could not have asked for anything more. The only downside was town is 25 minutes away, there are not any closer stores or gas stations, so we had to plan ahead. But even with that in mind, I would still stay here again and recommend to all friends and family!

Immulate cottage

The cottage was immulate and the setting was breathtakingly beautiful. We watched the lions at night. There were eagles, blue herons, geese and plenty of fish. The lake is quiet and tranquil. The host is great with attention to detail.

Perfect Gem on the lake

We had the opportunity to be a guest at The Point, and the cabin did not disappoint!! We were right on the lake with all the amenities provided to fully disconnect from the busy life and simply enjoy the "lake life". The cabin was clean, and provided all the essentials to enjoy a relaxing, care-free stay. The location was absolutely perfect. There's hiking close by, site seeing, two- tracks and so much more. The check in/check out process was easy, and Craig and Laurie had wonderful communication throughout. We highly recommend this perfect little gem.

Summer 2024

Craig communicated quickly and respectfully and even provided us some worms to go fishing at the lake. We had a chance to meet Craig and his wife, and they are lovely people. The cottage/cabin was very clean (including the grill!) and everything was very accessible. There is even a neat binder in the inside with information on the local area which was nice to have. Everything you need for cooking is accessible to you (besides the food and oil of course).There is internet at the location too which is nice. The only, and I mean only thing I would change, is if there was central A/C because it did get pretty toasty in the cabin during our stay. There are 2 box fans and lots and lots of windows, but the weekend we stayed it was exceptionally and abnormally hot for the time of year. Besides that, and the bugs of course (it's in the woods and right on the lake there will be bugs lol), the stay was close to perfect. We hope to come back some time!

Peaceful view, waterfront dream

We had the best time at this cabin: swimming, fishing kayaking, birdwatching, and just relaxing outdoors. The property and cabin were even better in person than we expected. The cabin was clean, and the layout was very conducive to enjoying the outdoors. We spent a lot of time down near the water. The view from the living room was amazing. We grilled dinner each night we were there and ate at the picnic table outside. We had no trouble finding the location of the property. A nice surprise to us were some extras we found, like the cornhole yard game, a couple of lifejackets (we hadn't taken enough for each of us), and two fishing poles (we did take ours, but appreciated that there were some for the use of guests). We're already planning our return trip!! Communication with the host was easy, and he responded quickly as well.

Paradise

My husband and I loved our stay at The Point. The cottage is immaculate and cozy. Craig and Laurie have thought of everything you will need and extra items in case you forgot something to make your stay wonderful. The views of the lake are incredible and so peaceful. We enjoyed our brief talks with Craig and he was the perfect host. We visited Mackinaw City, Mackinaw Island(The Grand Hotel is a must see), Ocqueoc Falls, Onaway State Park and the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie(We timed it just right to see the freighter come through and the museum was great too). Thank you Craig and Laurie for sharing your beautiful home.

Just completed our second weekly stay at the point. We enjoyed using our kayaks on this beautiful no wake lake. We brought our bikes this year to explore some of the local towns and trails. We even streamed our favorite shows with the high speed internet. Quiet, peaceful cabin and wonderful hosts.

Peace and quiet

This stay was just what the doctor ordered. Very quiet, comfortable and peaceful. HAd the whole lake to myself while fishing!! The hosts were gracious, even going out of their way to help when car keys got locked in our car. 😀. Looking forward to another opportunity to spend more time here.

We prefer the no wake lake so you have nothing but peace and quiet. Host was great as expected from the previous reviews. Cottage is VERY clean and very nicely decorated and stocked. If your looking for peace and quiet and plenty of nature, you will be very pleased!

Quiet Getaway

The property is clean and has just about everything you need. It even has a small Keurig! It’s a nice small lake that is great for kayaks. We found the area to be very quiet during the week and enjoyed our side trips to the small towns and Mackinaw Island.
