Great kitchen, well stocked except kitchen towels. Loved the view/sounds of ocean. Quiet neighborhood. Decor could use some color! Some walls had nicks that needed repair. Carpet needed cleaned. Mr clean would help the dining chairs wood & seats. Loved the decks!

Great stay in the Arizona

Good location and great view. The accommodations were comfortable and attractive for the whole family. A large boiling pot would be a good addition for the kitchen.

Loved it!

Loved the house. Plenty of room and nicely decorated. A bit of a hike over the dunes with two small kids and all that goes with them but loved the beach. Not at all crowded.

We had a great time and loved the balconies and proximity to the beach. The kitchen was well equipped and the house caught the breeze well so that we barely used the AC. thanks for a great stay.

Great House & Location

The house was perfect for our group of friends and dogs who just wanted to relax by the beach all week. Perfect to sit and eat on the deck in the evening. The house fit us all and our cooking comfortably and was well set out. We didn't use the BBQ as it was charcoal.

Great Family and Friends home!

The Arizona was perfect for us! We had 6 adults, 1 2yr old and 2 dogs and we had more than enough room to relax and just chill out. The decks are amazing, awesome views, and comfy couches. The walk to the beach is no big deal unless you have mobility issues and it’s nice and nit too crowded. We enjoyed getting a steamer and watching the sunset from a local restaurant. Wonderful vacation!

Great Place to Stay

The house is exactly as described. Very clean and spacious. Great location on the beach. The top floor suite is immaculate. Salvo is a wonderfully quiet town, but there is not much to do. However, Avon, just a few miles south, can offer you entertainment without the long drive to Nags Head. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a nice, peaceful, relaxing vacation.

Blissful family vacation on the beach

My family had an absolutely amazing week at this beautiful home on the beach. The house was extremely clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The views from the house are simply breath-taking; I loved waking up and seeing the ocean. We visited in April and found the beach and town uncrowded, unhurried and extremely friendly. It was too cold to swim, but my kids loved learning how to surf fish and playing on the beach. The foosball table was a hit, too. I would come back off-season in a heart beat.

Two Weeks at Arizona

The house was spotlessly clean when we arrived and we were very comfortable for the entire visit. We loved that all the rooms opened onto a deck and had beach access from the many decks. We saw deer on the dunes from our bedroom - a really nice surprise. The den with the large TV was especially nice for reading, with a large, cozy sofa. The kitchen was very well equipped with an amazing array of small appliances so meals were a breeze. And of course, the beach. Most relaxing vacation we have ever had. Thank you!

Relaxation in Salvo

We stayed at the Arizona and absolutely loved it! The house had plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 children. The kitchen offered everything we needed to prepare our meals each day and the beach is beautiful! I would recommend this house to anyone that wishes to get away from the hustle and bustle of the northern beaches. There are plenty of stores nearby where we bought bait, groceries, ice cream and fudge. The dunes offer stunning views of wildlife throughout the day. The sunrises were amazing. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and will visit again in a few years.

Arizona OBX

Although some of the interior could use some updating, the space was great. A 360* view of the Outer Banks just breathtaking. I could really see a large family enjoying their stay here. But the hot water heater would be a problem. It ran out before even filling the bathtub or finishing your shower. The cleaning crew needs a few pointers.I would rent it again for 2 people.

Needs TLC

The layout was perfect for our family with two adults and their children in the Jack and Jill bedrooms and my son in the single with a bath. The master was also nice. The property is pretty worn out. The grounds are overgrowing wildly - it's even hard to find the driveway. Great view from decks but the wood is well worn with nail heads popping up everywhere.

Oceanfront home in Salvo was good for the whole family.

Beautiful quiet location. Home was very comfortable and roomy for several people. Great restaurants nearby. Looks just like the photos. Property was clean but well used. No real yard area for dogs but house is dog friendly. Sitting on the porches at night and listening to the sound of the ocean was heaven. We had a great time. When owner says no towels that means no bath towels, kitchen towels, potholders, bath rugs, nothing. Keep that in mind and bring them. Kitchen potholders and towels would make a great addition. There's a Dollar Store down the road.

Great location, great house!

We had a great stay at the Arizona. From start to finish, the owners were responsive and the house was just as described. It was an early (cold!) week in the season, so it was nice to be in a clean, well appointed house since we spent most of the time in the house or on the deck. The main deck itself was wonderful - great view and lots of space. The gates on each deck were great for keeping the dog with us. Like most places on the Outer Banks, you see more dune than ocean. Not many local businesses were open yet, so I can't comment on local restaurants. Avon was a short drive for groceries, but I would recommend stopping at the Harris Teeter in Kill Devil Hills on your way down - much better selections. Overall, a great house and great vacation!

Great location, mediocre house

The house is in a perfect location with stunning views. It was amazing being so close to the water and was an easy (as easy as walking over dunes can be) walk with three small kids. The house itself was a good size for 5 of us. The kids enjoyed the games and fooseball table. Unfortunately, the house itself was in need of a lot of maintenance. It smelled of wet dog and there was dog hair on the furniture and beds. The freezer door didn’t close all the way, so some of our food went bad. The shower curtain was moldy. Everything was just a bit janky. With a little TLC, this could be a perfect vacation home.

Felt Like A Rock Star!

Just loved staying in "Arizona" for our early beach vacation. We were just a party of three, so we had plenty of room to spread out. I think we could have accommodated at least 6 or 7 more people. Whoever gets the top floor master suite will never forget it! It's like the fanciest room at a nice resort, with the four poster bed and magnificent ocean view with private deck and seating area. This is the perfect place to watch the sun rise with your coffee. The Master Bath is luxurious and enormous with sunken tub and plenty of towel bars. Two of the decks on the house have both Bay and Ocean views, We loved that the TV was not in the main living room, but off to the side in a separate den. It is personally the largest TV I have ever watched! It was very enjoyable to have Netflix to choose movies to watch. The game table was very fun and we used the pool table option quite a bit. The kitchen is very well equipped including lots of small appliances that came in handy! We made Belgian waffles a few mornings-that was an unexpected treat! Great sunbathing on the deck loungers and a nice short walk to the beach. We enjoyed the local restaurants, especially the Down Under on the bay side at sunset. All in all, a great vacation experience. Hope to return again with some more family in tow!

Our one week stay at "Arizona" at the Outer Banks of North Carolina

Our stay couldn't have been better! David and Lou (the owners) surprised me with a nice card and a beautiful basket of gifts for my 80th birthday. My daughter and her husband brought a lot of food when they drove from Connecitcut and we all enjoyed the meals they cooked in the very well equipped kitchen. When we didn't eat inthe house we found some great restaurants with great tasting food. In the evenings we spent time reading or watching movies on the great big TV we found in the den. It seemed like the house was designed to be comfortable and we certainly were. There were great panoramic views of the dunes and ocean from the many decks as well as most of the rooms in the house. We visited, for the first time, wonderful sites such as their ocean beach, just over the sand dunes, Kitty Hawk to see all the great things that the Wright Brothers created, and even climbed about 200 feet to the top of the Hatteras Light (which amazingly had been moved 1600 feet some years ago - to save it from the ocean). One day we took an airplane ride over the Outer Banks and saw some wonderful sites. Another we took a ferry boat ride to Ocracoke Island to visit this unique and historic treasure. The history of these places is well documented in their museums and included fascinating information on pirates and the civil war. We visited the bay side of the island as well - enjoyed watching the colorful Kite Surfers flying through the air while we picniked in a shady part of the beach, complete with a picnic table and benches. A short walk up the hill brought us to a small burial site where folks from long ago related their history - carved into the markers. We all appreciated the way David and Lou were so helpful when we explained that some of our family could not come because of medical reasons. When we get back to North Carolina we will surely try to stay at David and Lou's "Arizona"

A+ for Arizona

Our family of four (+1 canine) had a lovely week at the Arizona in Salvo. Overall, we rate the experience and the house itself with 5 out of 5 stars, as the Arizona met all of our needs and expectations. Our favorite things about the house included: the ample and closeable deck space – perfect for hanging out on, eating or playing games, watching the sunrise or stars, and leaving the dog out on to dry after hosing him down from the beach. Also very handy for dog owners is the pen beneath the house. Dune views are lovely, and from the beach side shield you from seeing virtually any houses - giving a very serene, natural and preserved feel. The house was exceptionally comfortable and livable – perfect for relaxing! The main areas were very well lit, and the "lived in" feel made the couches seem inviting to curl up on. We were huge fans of having the entertainment room totally separate from the main living area, so some people could watch a movie without detracting from the serene feeling living room. The kitchen is well stocked and we had fun experimenting with the waffle iron and the blender for cocktails. In addition to being oceanfront, Arizona is also very close (5-6 blocks) from the Currituck Sound. We had never experienced this narrow a sliver of the OBX in our visits to Duck, Nagshead, Corolla, etc. Not only did we get gorgeous sunrises most mornings, but we also saw magnificent sunsets over the sound just a short walk from the house. The owners and management company were extremely helpful and responsive to a couple of minor issues that arose during our stay. To be fair, we also came up with a few negatives, some of which are just flip sides or double-edged swords to the positives that we so very much enjoyed, so take it all with a grain of sea salt when considering what’s most important to you! The dunes in Salvo make oceanfront a bit further from the ocean than other sites along the OBX and diminish the sound of crashing surf that you hear from the house. Remoteness is a plus (especially in off-season) for running the dog and feeling as if we had the beach to ourselves, but it does make for a longer trip to the grocery store and a slightly longer drive from the DC area. There are only sand paths through the dunes to the ocean, rather than a boardwalk, making it a bit tougher to navigate for the 70+ year olds or when carrying lots of things down to the beach. Overall, we loved our experience at Arizona and would highly recommend it to all!

We had a wonderful vacation. 2 suggestions - cut back and weed the landscaping as it is very overgrown. Spray the interior for spiders as I had a very large spider in my sheets the first night, a large spider in the bathtub and another very large spider dangling from the ceiling the final day of our stay.
