Thank you for visiting our listing. The lake, mountains and beauty awaits your arrival at City Beach Brownstone. Families have come from every corner of the United States to enjoy our home. We hope that if your travels bring you to Coeur d'Alene, that you will be able to be our guest. If you have questions please feel free to phone us or you may contact us by email.

Enjoy a cup of morning coffee on the covered porch and prepare for a day at the lake. There are only seven homes between you and city beach (about a 3 minute walk. This lifeguard-staffed beach is located within minutes of the world-class Coeur d'Alene Resort as well as the family-friendly city park.

The 'City Beach Brownstone' is located in the prestigious 'Fort Grounds' neighborhood. This 1905 stone home was completely 're-invented' in 2006 taking care to maintain the homes heart and soul. Hardwood floors are gleaming throughout the home on both levels. This well-appointed home includes luxury linens, jetted soaking tub, granite counters, original clawfoot tub, uncluttered contemporary art, comfortable furniture, and two stories to spread out your family.

If you are considering a family vacation this home puts you steps away from the beachfront excitement yet surrounded by a tranquil neighborhood. North Idaho College summer plays are an easy walk away as well as the Castle Play Structure in the city park.
The famous Coeur d'Alene golf course with its island green is nearby as well as Tubbs Hill, parasailing, great restaurants, art galleries, and shopping.

The main floor bedroom has a king luxury bed, the two bedrooms upstairs have one luxury king bed and a luxury queen bed.

We love coming here for a weekend in CDA. Beach, resort, shops, parks are all walkable and everything else in town is a short drive away. Beautiful neighborhood and charming home

Oh this place was an absolute delight! Old house with the most charming character! But also had all the modern conveniences. The location was perfect. We walked to the water, park, and downtown CDA multiple times. We played games and read on the darling porch. The host was super communicative and, though we had zero issues with the place, I know he'd have been all over it if we had. I can't rave about it enough. It checked all the boxes.

Loved this cute house. The location is excellent, and the kitchen was well stocked. Our only concern was the with the very, very warm second floor where two bedrooms and a bathroom are located. The very loud AC units just could not keep up, and the windows don’t open. The occupants of those rooms wore earplugs to bed and were quite hot until about 2 am. As other reviewers have said, a little TLC and refreshing throughout would be welcome. The porch in my view was the best part of the house and outside of sleeping we spent most of our time there.

Needs Repair

The location of this property is fantastic! Walking distance to the beach and park! The neighborhood is lovely. Lots of older homes that have been remodeled. This home was very clean and the communication was awesome. However, this home needs a lot of work. I wish I could add pictures. Several unsightly items inside (whomever did the remodel needs to be fired), the yard is a mess and the front porch was very dirty (we cleaned it as best we could) and the table and chairs all need repair. The porch is disappointing as that is the sweetest spot in the house. Also the upstairs was very warm for sleeping. They did have portable room coolers, but didn't help much. Some of the window couldn't be opened since they still had storm windows on them and not screens. I don't usually complain, but I rely on other peoples reviews in making my decision on what to rent so felt I needed to be really honest. We rent VRBO's all over the world.

Quaint home in Fort Grounds

We loved our stay at Dan’s home. The home is quaint and comfortable. We loved the location. You can walk to lake and downtown to restaurants and shops. Dan responded to all my questions and was easy to work with. We would stay again

Terrific location and property. So easy to walk into town! Dan and Brett were excellent hosts....we had a Wi-Fi issue on our 1st night and they resolved it immediately the next day.

Misleading House Details

Host was pleasant to speak to but inattentive to the resolving the misleading details presented in the description. He did not send us check in instructions so we had to call when we arrived. Listing states it can sleep 8 but it only sleeps 6 and the host confirmed the hide-a-bed in the living room was removed a few years ago. Upper bedroom ceiling looked as though it was about to collapse as there was cracking, sagging and a hole showing rafters. Advertises a fireplace but does not disclose you have to provide the wood. Lastly, to unlock the deadbolts of the front and back doors from the inside a key was needed which is a safety hazard to exit in an emergency. House was charming and the issues could have been resolved rather easily with a little more effort.

Great Location

The location is top notch, for our family the size of the house worked very well, the front deck was a great place to have morning coffee. It was 100° on our first night, very warm in the upstairs, but not much can be done about that kind of temperature. I would recommend.

Family Vacation 2023

We loved our stay and the proximity to the lake was perfect! I went for a walk each morning. Dan was easy to reach before we arrived and after when we left something behind. My only suggestions would be to turn on the upper AC prior to guests arrive. It took a bit to cool it down. And maybe put a sofa sleeper in the library. But we truly had an amazing stay!

Summer family getaway

We took a few days away and absolutely loved this house and location. We had everything we needed, enjoyed mornings and evenings on the front porch and fun filled (walkable) days at the lake and in town!
