6 long time friends gathered for a girls weekend away! We had a great time. We all loved the warmth of the house, all the rooms and the surroundings. Close to our homes in the city but so nice to feel far removed!! The kitchen parties were great as we made delicious meals together. Lounging by the fireplace with the view of the lake and Walter the donkey!! We had an amazing time and hope to return again!!
This was our second time staying here. We enjoyed all the house had to offer and pleased to see they have good kayaks now.
The property is need of basic maintenance and gardening.
This is the perfect property if you are looking for a group getaway. We had six ladies in our group and we all had our own room to sleep in. A lovely large kitchen made preparing meals very easy. The large dining room table was perfect for our crafting, playing games and eating meals at. Walter, the donkey, and his family of goats entertained us all weekend. our group will definitely be returning.
Right from driving to the property we were in love with the beauty of the area. Only 15 minutes away from the city yet you feel completely away from everything. The house is lovely. Rooms for everyone, and plenty of washrooms. For our family of 9 (grandparents, young adults, teen and preteen) everyone found somewhere comfy to relax as well as enjoyed pool, ping pong, meals at the big table or a beautiful campfire together. Found everything we needed! Definitely will be back to visit Walter the donkey and all the goats. Thank you, John, for a wonderful stay.
Spacious, eclectic, comfortable, great kitchen, comfortable beds and nice linens. We loved feeding the fish on the koi pond and give treats to Walter the donkey and his goat friends. We have already booked doe next year and can’t wait to come back.
We had the best time at John’s place. This was our 3rd summer there and every time it gets even better. We love the animals, trampoline, kayaking, pool and ping pong, and koi. Cascade Falls is a great short hike nearby. The house is truly awesome, and Karen keeps it sparkling clean! Thanks so much for everything, John and Karen!
We loved our stay at “Hollyville” with our whole family.
It was the perfect spot for a family reunion celebrating our father’s 80th birthday!
From Australia to Edmonton, everyone enjoyed Walter and the donkeys and looked forward to feeding the koi every day.
The property has everything you could want and more and kept us entertained the whole time we were there
Thank you John and Karen for your hospitality!
Hope to be back again soon!
We had two families of teenagers and the property was perfect for beautiful lake views and fun activities for cousin-bonding. We had competitive ping pong & billiards tournaments, fun at the trampoline, picturesque kayaking, made new friends with Walter (star donkey) + goats and ended each evening with a bond fire. There was even a gym in the basement.
Place was great and well appointed. The owners were fantastic. Very helpful with showing us the ropes of the place and were super respectful all weekend of just popping by once a day when we were outside to see how we were getting on and to have a friendly chat. Great house with lots of rooms and amenities. Was awesome to have the fire pit on the deck and the wood stove in the outdoor structure as the weather was cooler at night. All 9 guys agreed the place was perfect for what we needed. Space from other homes and places to chill and relax after golf. We will be back.
We had a fantastic stay at Holleyville. We really appreciated how accommodating John was with our flight schedule. The property was perfect for our needs: beautiful views, lots of space, and activities to suit everyone's needs from visiting with the animals, to sitting on the dock, to playing ping pong and listening to music. The bedrooms were great with comfortable beds, lots of pillows, and all the towels we could need. The main suite provided the perfect space for our daughter to get ready for her wedding. John was thoughtful enough to call me to make sure we didn't miss the amazing show put on by the Northern Lights - what a sight! Holleyville was the perfect setting for an unforgettable long weekend.
My family and i celebrated my 50th birthday at this beautiful place. Its a huge house with plenty of room for games, big dinners, and BBQing on the patio. We enjoyed playing billiards, kayaking, watching the morning sunrise from the dock, and playing bocce in the large grassy areas. The home is a beautiful luxury house in a rustic setting. We also enjoy the Koi pond, goats and famous donkey "Walter". I highly recommend this wonderful property. Karen and John were great hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. We definitely plan to rent this place again.
Our walking group goes on yearly retreats and this year we decided to stay closer to home, we were more than delighted at what we saw and experienced. The house is uniquely built to have spaces for everyone to enjoy both comforts and views as well as peace and quiet. The farm is situated on 55 acres and resident donkey and goats added to the experience. The location is superb with vista views, Mission Abby close by, cascade waterfalls, Fraser river and more. The host is fascinating having travelled around the world, collected art and artifacts and as well is music savvy now hosting music feats with Juneau award winners on his property. The house is also very well equipped which made our in home entertaining especially relaxing. We are definitely considering returning I. The future.
We (6 of us, all family) spent a week in this wonderful, practical, beautiful, varied and slightly eccentric hideaway, in the woods and on the lake.
The house itself is big, rambling and really something else; the wildlife on the lake is varied - never seen so many ducks and geese in one place, plus bald eagles; there was the odd bear passing by from time to time (and nibbling on the blueberries). If you were so inclined you could spend the whole holiday in the house, playing games, working out in the gym (not me, obs!) playing pool or table tennis, feeding the fish, enjoying the BBQ, talking to Walter the donkey & associated goats.
We didn't just do that of course - we went to walk in the parks and lakes all about, and took a day out in Vancouver visited way too many brewhouses.
In summary, we had a very special time, and the house and its location were a big part of why.
We stayed at Holleyville for a relaxing family gathering and it was exactly that. The house was a home: well stocked in the kitchen, and plenty of activities for family, including books, games, etc. Good beds, and well set up for two to three families or a group of friends. There are four distinct sitting areas, so if you need to spread out for some separate time, the house is set up for it.
Holleyville is well located, about a 10-15 minute drive from two major supermarkets and restaurants. Drive towards Agassiz and visit several farm stands for some of the best produce and peaches and cream corn if you're there during the summer season. There are also additional hiking trails within an hour drive.
John (owner) was incredibly communicative, easy to work with, and an all round lovely person.
The koi pond and goats and donkey (we LOVE Wayne!) were lovely companions for the stay. Hours were spent sitting on the dock watching ducks, swallows skimming the lake surface, hummingbirds feeding on the garden flowers, fish jumping out to catch bugs, and bald eagles soaring overhead.
Overall, the home was magical, and if we're back in the region, we will definitely check to see if Holleyville is available!
