The good, the bad and the ridiculous
The good:
- the location was wonderful, close to the beach, great views
- the main kitchen is newly redone and a great space to spend time together with everyone
- the porches are great
- The pool area is really nice and well done, salt water pool which is a plus.
The bad:
- other than the main kitchen, the house is in really bad shape, air vents coated with dust, showers had mold, water damage pretty evident, drywall damage around the house, carpet torn all over the place. Some fans we didn't use as they seemed like they were going to shoot out of the ceiling. All in all, the house was just gross and didn't seem to have been cleaned very well (hair left in the shower etc).
The ridiculous:
- We have used 3 different rental companies at Holden so I am comparing my experiences there with here. This company has a rule posted all around the house and if you, "violate" the rule, you get a fine, it became a running joke during our stay. Forget to roll the trashcans out, fine, forget to put a dish up, fine, leave any trash anywhere in the house, fine, leave your stuff accidentally, fine, get any makeup on the sheets, fine. Not a huge deal to take out the trash etc, but you also pay a cleaning so the other stuff just seemed silly. Lastly, first house I have ever been to that didn't have, "starter" supplies like a single roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, hand soap etc to get you going. Not a big deal but a big difference.
Overall, we will not use this company or rent this house again. We still had a good time but this is my honest review.
