Port Charlotte Canal home
We booked through VRBO and the property is managed by Global Vacation Retails. Wish we had booked directly with them and I think we would have saved a little. The home is a three bedroom rancher with a nice Florida screened in lanai on the canal. The property was clean, maintained well and the neighborhood was 80% well maintained and 20% not maintained, but not sketchy. This home is not well suited if you use any type of mobility aide as there is a step down, and the showers have no safety bars. The master shower is very nice, but there is no seat or area to use in it so we brought in a composite table to use. The other shower/tub combo is cute, but unsafe. The two bedrooms need to have the bed switched from the rooms as the small room had the king and the large room had a queen size (minor issue, but why?). Lastly the room with the king bed had the HVAC system blower is in the closet and was very loud, very! The Positives: This was a dog property and that trumps all negatives listed above. Finding a property that is clean, well maintained and accepts dogs (two Goldens and Cavapoo) was almost priceless. We had a few hiccups with the dryer and HVAC and the property manager was very responsive and the problems were fixed almost immediately. The property is centrally located so going N, S, E, and West was an easy commute. The Canal and dock provide hours of opportunity to fish.Overall I would stay again if I were traveling with dogs.
