Loved Our Stay

We loved staying at the Red Clay Farm House. The pictures and description were very accurate. We had eight adults (Two of them were college students.), and there was lots of room to spread out. The house was clean, beds comfortable and area beautiful. It was convenient to everything we did (Ootewah, Weaver, Chattanooga, etc. The hostess was wonderful about staying in touch and answering any questions promptly. If we ever get back to the area, we would definitely see if the Red Clay House was available.

Great time at Red Clay Farmhouse

My Family and I stayed at the property for the week of Thanksgiving and we wanted a place to stay between the National forest and Chattanooga. The property was in great shape, with updated bathrooms, kitchen and comfortable beds. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit a couple times for our stay. Even with temps in the 20s, the house was very warm and not drafty like some older homes we’ve stayed in. There are friendly neighborhood dogs which my kids enjoyed playing with, but they did bark into the night, so be aware of that. Our kids also enjoyed the game room in garage and upstairs books and toys. After hiking and biking at all the numerous trails in the area, the house was always great to come back too. We arrived at night, and had a little trouble finding the place. There’s a private gravel driveway with multiple homes which you have to drive through before finding the farmhouse, better arrival directions could be given. Also be aware that you are in a rural area, 20 mins from Cleveland, 1 hour from lookout mountain, and 45 mins from National Forest and Ocoee River. This is what we wanted for our get-away so not an issue for us. Overall we would definitely stay here again if we’re in the area.

Dirty bedding

One of the beds had obviously dirty bedding. No extras to change the sheets. The next day I was able to get the housekeeping closet code and change my own bedding. I would suggest more accurate description of the sleeping locations. This would make it easier for planning. Overall, the house was clean, the farm animals were a delight and the sunrise amazing!

It Could Have Been Worse

Pros: The house was lovely. Truly. Now the cons: We needed an early check-in. After FINALLY getting in touch with a person, they charged me for it even though noone was in the property the day before. Calling the people was a nightmare. Part 1)I use hosting services like VRBO to rent properties from small businesses or individuals (who have set up an LLC for protection). When calling this company I got the "Your call may be recorded for training purposes" recording. Part 2) The person I spoke to spoke English well enough, I suppose, but the quality of the hardware was ridiculous The voice was garbled, they often couldn't hear me, didn't respond to texts in anything that could be called a "promptly manner." The location... This property is in the middle of NOWHERE. Now that by itself isn't so bad. Sometimes you want to be away from people. But getting to this property is just an exercise in frustration and a real-life experience of the banjo-picking movie. Right in front of the property is a giant field for goats and cows, turkey, and ducks. That part, honestly, was awesome. The water pressure is not great. The bathrooms & kitchens have been renovated (great job!), but it doesn't change the fact that showering (or even just washing your hands) is tricky because the WP is bad. TLDR; beautiful property, but not worth the money paid. If I had paid maybe $250-300 less, I probably wouldn't complain so hard. But that whole "early checkin/communication issue" was too much.
