Great location for a foodie!
This is a wonderful place to stay when you visit Wilmington. The house is very comfortable. The hosts are kind and responsive. It’s in a great location where you can quickly get to Oleander Drive, the big street that takes you directly to historic downtown and the Riverwalk in one direction and directly to Wrightsville Beach in the other direction. However, the house is just off of Wrightsville Ave, which is parallel to Oleander Drive, so you can avoid the traffic on Oleander by sticking to the quieter, more charming street as long as possible and that will get you very close to the beach and past the worst of the traffic on the way downtown. The convenient location also means you are close to grocery stores, good restaurants and essential shopping. Check out the New Hanover County Arboretum, which is a beautiful hidden gem off of Oleander. Long Leaf Park is also a special place due to the straight trunks of the spaced longleaf pines. If you enjoy a nice bottle-shop with outdoor seating, Brewer’s Kettle on Oleander backs up to Long Leaf Park. I’m a foodie, so I highly recommend Tortilleria Y Taqueria Carolinas on College Road near UNCW. It’s an authentic, Mexican, hole-in-the wall, owned by a friendly family who hand makes everything. I especially loved the Sopes because they were fluffy and soft compared to those at other Mexican restaurants in town. Mmmmm! Also, try out Clean Eats, a cool restaurant on Oleander Drive that offers healthy food done right! Kabuki Korean Grill isn’t visible from Oleander, but worth finding if you like a stone bowl of deliciousness with a side of kimchi. I also loved the Thai food at Kyoto Grill on Market Street. The Penang Curry is fantastic! Our Crepes and More is a popular spot on Oleander owned by a French family. They offer traditional sweet or savory crepes. However, their big surprise is gluten-free crepes that taste just like regular crepes! Wrightsville Beach Brewery on Oleander is also worth a visit for yummy food and beverages made in shining vats. Wilmington is a delicious place to visit!
