A grand reception lounge with ornate 11ft ceilings and fireplace welcomes guests on arrival. Stepping past the cosy chairs around the fireplace, one enters the large sitting area filled with vintage chairs and colourful rugs on the classic wooden floorboards. One's gaze is drawn beyond to the dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a sunny (north facing) private garden.
A built for purpose bar and separate mens and ladies restrooms add extra value to the living area. Historically it was a 50 seat fine dining restaurant. The finale is the giant kitchen which offers full commercial capabilities in a user friendly setup.

About the host
Hosted by Margaret Bouttell

Margaret and Rowan Bouttell purchased Glenella in 2014 and have lovingly restored it to create a home from home experience for groups. Originally from South Africa they left their corporate jobs in Sydney for a tree change in the Blue Mountains.
We're both enthusiastic cyclists, mainly offroad and independent touring. This past winter we cycled 750km in norther QLD, mainly along the National Trail.
Glenella is our home, we live in a manager's flat on the property. We love to open Glenella for families and friends to gather together. It's a house that was built for sharing, laughter and food.
We have been listing on other platforms for many years, there you can read our excellent reviews.

Why they chose this property
We choose to live in Blackheath with it's close proximity to the Blue Mountains trails. When walking, running or cycling the bush trails we feel joy and gratitude for living in such a beautiful place.
What makes this property unique
Glenella was built in 1905 by the Phillips family as their home and in 1919 extended it into a guesthouse accommodating up to 60 guests! The Phillips family ran Glenella for over 50 years as a traditional guesthouse offering 3 meals a day.
Glenella made history in the 1980's when the renowned chef, Michael Manners, purchased the property and turned it into a fine dining establishment with a 3 month waiting list.
When Margaret and Rowan purchased the property in 2014 it was rather run down. Over the past 9 years they have laboured to bring life back to the property and it is showing the love they have bestowed on it to make it warm and welcoming - a home from home.
