About this property

Historic cottage with right of way to Little Harbor!

Welcome to Hay!

Looking for a rustic Maine cottage? Well look no further! This three-bedroom cottage has all the charm you are looking for while still giving you modern day amenities. Hay offers limited views of scenic Mackerel Cove from the living room and covered porch.

This turn-of-the-century cottage keeps its charm with wood-paneled walls and period antiques throughout. The main floor offers a spacious kitchen with updated appliances, an open concept living and dining area with a brick fireplace (not available for tenants use), a half bath, and a laundry room. There are three bedrooms with four beds upstairs. One with a queen size bed, one with a full size bed, and the last has two twin beds. The second floor also has a full bathroom complete with shower and tub. Not able to get away from work on your vacation? No worries, this house has a nice size office with a printer and wireless internet. Hay is in a great location for walks throughout the island as well as only being a short walk to Little Harbor (a pebbly beach area great for swimming). Take a chance and come stay at the Hay cottage! Please note the screens are being repaired for the screened in porch so it is not currently screened in.

* Please note this property rents Saturday-Saturday in summer. The calendar will show available check-in check-out days and the week in-between will be grayed out.

Vacation week at Hay Cottage

My two friends Glenn and Julie and I so enjoyed staying at Hay Cottage! It's a lovely, well-kept place in a beautiful setting. The accommodations were all splendid and pleasant. Thank you for allowing us to be there; I hope we left it in good shape!

Bailey Island vacation home

The house was quite nice, well equipped for a summer vacation, and very comfortable. Nice quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. We enjoyed our stay - including the daily parades of wild turkey families through the back yard!

Really pleasant and charming

Overall are stay was idyllic. The island is beautiful, very calm and felt intimate and homey. The house had a lot of personal character and charm. Most everything you could need was there - stuff for cooking, games, puzzles, picnic baskets, fires, etc. The only issues we had was the smelliness of the tap water which was rather overwhelming and did make it so you didn't even want to shower which when you're going to the beach and swimming in salt water is rather necessary not to mention it just being summertime and hot. We definitely didn't want to drink it so we bought a lot of spring water but that wasn't an issue for us. Though it is good to know so you can be prepared. The only other thing is there wasn't a spare blanket in the entire house. Not such a problem for us as our party of people runs warm. But I know a lot of people get cold at night especially as it would get pretty breezy on the island. So either bring an extra blanket or two yourself if you run cold or maybe you can ask to have extras left for you. All in all we really had a lovely time and felt very comfortable at the house.

Peace and quiet

We really enjoyed our time at Hay cottage. Very relaxing and just good old Maine vibe. Enjoyed the walks to giant stairs each morning. Love the area in general.

Short stay vaca.

This rental was a great getaway with so many things to see and do. My daughter-in-law & I went on a few hikes, went to The Giant's Stairs, Land's End & much more. The water needs to be addressed though, so much iron in it, it smells alot & you can't drink it, at least there is a Brita filter container you can use.
