Excellent set up for that escape that has everything in the private confines of a country farm. Kane was our Host and he is the nicest guy. Shared stories of the area, gave us a scenic tour. Our Border Collie loved swims in the lake and the rolling green landscape was a very chill vibe. The bbq and kitchen in the bus are well equip for camp style cooking and the bed was so comfy! I'd love to return with friends. If you need anything from town, it's a short drive, otherwise leave it all behind and enjoy the surprisingly spacious & rustic feel of, Olivia the Bedford. Can't wait to return with friends, this spot is great for any age and i love that you can bring your pooch! If you need anything at all, just ask Kane, equally he will just leave you to your stay. We were lucky enough to have plums, courgettes and farm fresh eggs!
We weren't quite sure what to expect, as we are not normally into the glamping style of accommodation. But we loved every bit of what this place had to offer. Peaceful, no TV, surrounded by nature, over looking lake, fishing rod, kayaks, BBQ, selection of fresh produce on arrival, no neighbours anywhere close, what more could you want for serious downtime. Being a bus it has 'bus' sized amenities so you have to be prepared for that. Having said that it had a full sized very comfortable bed. Also has bunks available.
Being located in the middle of nature be prepared to have a few bugs, birds, rabbits etc running around, but that all adds to the charm. Loads of flat area for the kids to run around on or even the family dog (remember it is a working farm).
We will be back next time we need more unwind time.
I stayed 2 nights for a quick getaway with my son & wee dog. Host was friendly, helpful and real chill...He even gave a little tour and took us to see the glow worms...!
Bus (Olivia2) was comfortable and well equipped, even had fresh veges, eggs, milk and bread left for us on arrival which was a lovely bonus.
Very much enjoyed our stay, thank you 😊
If you want to try something different then the usual box, bed and window, this is it. Our family of 5 are sure glad it was on our list as it was a stay to remember. The Host is as good as they get, polite, helpful, friendly and welcoming and even had some supplies to make a pretty good breakfast in the morning. The bus is equipped with everything needed including bathroom facilities and a fully utensiled kitchen. Beds were comfy and clean. If you've got spare time there's a great quiet spot to chill down near the river.
Unforgettable Honeymoon Kickoff in a Vintage Bus by Lake Karapiro
This VRBO isn't your typical stay; it's a vintage bus nestled amid Waikato grandeur. Imagine a 1971 Bedford bus perched elegantly, gazing over the tranquil beauty of Lake Karapiro—a dreamy start to our honeymoon adventure.
Welcomed warmly by our hosts with farm-fresh treats, including eggs and homegrown produce, our stay went beyond the ordinary.
What made it extraordinary was the personalized tour. Riding on a side-by-side, we explored their vast property, guided by fascinating local stories, discoveries of glow worms, and a private secluded lake beach!
In summary: unique? Absolutely. Enchanting? Undoubtedly. A story to share? No doubt. Our honeymoon began here, setting an incredible standard for future adventures. Don't think twice—book it. You won't regret it.
Trade the ordinary for an extraordinary, nostalgia-filled, nature-bound escapade at the Bedford bus by Lake Karapiro.
