Ehhh

No washcloths , no paper towels ,no tissues . Fridge was half full , (seemed odd) . Went to enjoy the sauna one night , that is advertised in the listing. It had a padlock on the door with no code . The “rule book , said to contact owner for the combination. So we were not able to use the sauna two nights , but only one .The sauna was why I booked this place . It was aggravating to need to ask for the code . This place was not cheap . I wish we stayed in a condo that would be set up with washcloths and access to amenities without the need to ask after arrival. I don’t plan to stay here again

Communicative & pleasant

We had an overall lovely stay at Ben’s place. Comfortable beds, great location, easy check-in, and communicative host. There were a number of cleaning issues (the upstairs bathroom had not been cleaned, cleaning supplies in the kitchen had not been refilled, recycling was full inside when we arrived) but once we shared with Ben he was responsive, apologetic, and issued a partial refund. Bedrooms and common living areas were clean and pleasant. Otherwise, our stay was wonderful and we’d be happy to stay again!

I am interested in restoring historic homes, building projects, filmmaking, and outdoor activities. I have spent lots of time in the region and can provide recommendations in Brattleboro and the surrounding area.

Why they chose this property

The Esteyville area of Brattleboro is a charming walkable neighborhood with lots of historic homes and beautiful views. Centered around the historic Estey Organ Factory, the neighborhood is a quick walk to town, hiking, and many local attractions. The broader Connecticut River Valley region is home to art, outdoor activities, and beautiful scenery that can be enjoyed year round by people of all ages.

What makes this property unique

We renovated our house top to bottom over the past few years. I personally restored the home to its original charm maintaining its historic integrity while also making major updates for energy efficiency, comfort, and modern living. The original wood floors were restored and refinished throughout the home and everything was brought up to modern standards. The home is fully electric and features a wood fired sauna in the backyard (which I also built!) constructed with spare materials from the home renovation. The house is well located and has beautiful open views across the street of Mt. Wantastiquet and the historic Estey Organ Factory. You will feel like you're out in the country while enjoying easy walking access to town (transit, food, culture) and less than 5 minutes by car from I-91.
