Great location & view!

The house worked perfect for our needs! Great location on the lake with exceptional views! The owners are next door, but other than wrapping up a few items when we checked in, you hardly knew they were there. We would definitely stay here again!

Excellent lake house and location

Perfect location on Lake Keowee. Plenty of good clean sleeping areas. Large kitchen for making meals. Lake access via the dock is an easy walk. We were even blessed with a visit from a large black bear one morning. We loved it and will be back!

Awesome Spot on the lake

This is a very clean and comfortable home on one of the best peninsula's on the lake. I have vacationed on this lake for over 15 years and rented many homes and this tops the list! Steps to the water, great dock, awesome views, beautiful sunsets and well maintained. Easy to get to also.

Great. Trip

Great spot. Very clean. Was worried about previous reviews stating the owners, who live next door, watched you like a hawk. We did not find this to be true. They were lovely hosts.

Great location. Fantastic support from property owner. Great stay!

Great home with lots of activities both on and off water. Property owner met us while we were unpacking and gave us some great insight into the area. We were even invited down the road for a 4th of July party. Home was well equipped and very comfortable. Lots of room and good stuff for the teenagers in our group.

Perfect week at the lake

We had a wonderful week with extended family, and the house accommodated all 9 of us quite comfortably. It’s situated on a beautiful stretch of Keowee, with a nice dock and lawn are to sit and enjoy the sunsets. For most of the week the lake was wonderfully quiet, with only occasional boat traffic. We spent one day on a rental boat on Lake Jocassee visiting waterfalls, which was a short 30 minute drive away. Would highly recommend this house for a family gathering.

Interesting

Beautiful view of the lake, clean house. But…be advised- owner lives on site (very close next door) and it’s a shared dock, definitely lacking privacy. Its 30 min to Clemson or Seneca. Six Mile is closest town & very small.

Great week, great house, amazing lake

This house is great for a large family or two families. It has lots of space and lots to do. The boat dock has plenty of room (just be prepared, you’re on a semi busy channel). Everything you need for a great week is right there. We had a great time. Only suggestion if you are major cookers you may want to bring some of your own knives and utensils.

Excellent place to stay! Views exceptional.

We stayed to celebrate my son’s graduation with our family. The property was very, very clean. Views from the dock were perfect. Sunrise and sunsets - can’t beat that! Downstairs was ideal for the teens with the game room and large TV. Note: If you like to cook I would bring your own knives; kitchen was a bit disorganized but that was not an issue for us. Overall a great experience. Thanks for a memorable graduation week. You have a great property that is very well kept!

Wonderful Place!!

We had a great time! My teenage boys loved the house and had lots of fun playing ping pong, basketball, swimming in the lake, etc. The house was SUPER clean. No problems at all. Communication was EXCELLENT. I had a few questions, and received a quick response from the owners. The property is beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking out at the lake. My family and I hope to go back again next summer! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Great views and comfortable house.

The views are great with easy access to the water and the dock. Some offputting rules for the house including only 4 cars allowed for a house that sleeps 10. We had to park two cars at park overnight at $5 per car per night. No cable or satellite TV while we were there. Utility trailer in driveway which blocked parking and access to the basketball goal. Owners very particular.

cleanest rental we've ever had in 20 years of renting!

Immaculate -- owners/manager very accessible/responsive - only one skillet but they've already advised they'll fix that up for the next renter -- super super clean -- great house layout - beautiful view -- easy access to nice food marts -- grocery pretty close for a lake property -- easy walk to/from house to dock - great parking -- nice for soaps, paper towels and toilet paper to be stocked to get started - pay attention to details of rental agreement lots of items - but you can tell it is the right thing due to perfect condition of everything. house is dated but you don't even notice after first minute due to cleanliness. Easy to get settled in -- great bath towel, cloths inventory -- special place!

Beautiful view!!

Lovely property - we arrived a little later than expected and the owner had kindly unlocked the doors and cut the hot water on for us. Very grateful for that, as we came from 4 different states and were all exhausted from travel. Only a couple of things I would recommend be changed. There is seating for only 6 at the dining table and strict rules about not eating in the family area. It rained all weekend and was very muggy so when we had guests over for lunch after our son's graduation there was not enough seating for us all to gather around the table. The second issue is the fact that we were unable to control the thermostat We keep our home at a "chilly" 68 degrees and were all pretty miserable at night. The downstairs is much cooler than upstairs so we put the most "hot natured" of us in that area. Other than that, it was a wonderful family graduation weekend. Definitely can't beat the view and solitude here. It was a wonderful place for my 3 adult children to enjoy some quality time together!! Thank you for your hospitality!!

Great house, outstanding location

We've rented several houses on Keowee in the past and this is by far the best location/view we've had. North facing so you get enough sunset view without the direct sunlight to bake in during the day. House itself is a little dated but who cares, you spend the vast majority of the time outdoors. We had plenty of room for 9 of us (5 bedrooms) and the downstairs is a big play room. The owners live next door which is sort of an unusual situation. But they are wonderful and immediately available if anything comes up that needs to be addressed. Do not rent this house if you plan on throwing a big lake party. One negative (which did not lower the rating at all) is the very restrictive "attendance policy" of the house. It is completely within the rental agreement/house rules so I can't complain. But if you want friends to come stay the day, you have to let the property manager know in writing prior to their arrival. Even if they come by boat and only stay a few hours. My son decided to come up for a couple days and we were told it would be an extra charge (though we ended up not being charged). The language is a little confusing and (in my opinion) unnecessarily strict. I completely understand their wish to keep things under control (and prior renters had abused this policy and clogged the septic tank) and it is their house, I just feel this could be done in a gentler manner. With that being said, it was an awesome house and we hope to rent it again next year! Knowing the guest policy ahead of time will relieve any unnecessary stress and miscommunication.

Views are breathtaking f/the balcony; just mind the nosy owners living next door

This home is not 15min from Clemson- the property is actually 15miles from Clemson which equates to 25-30min drive. Slightly misleading The house itself was nice, clean, and had amazing views of the lake and sunrise/sunset. As the pictures in their post illustrate- nothing in the house has been updated since the 1980s- to include the bath towels, appliances, and peeling contact paper in the drawers. This wasn't my favorite VRBO experience even though my family, friends and i had a fantastic time during the weekend. I found it very odd (and bordering on rude) that the owner insisted on mowing the lawn while my family and friends were eating lunch on the deck and relaxing on the dock on our last day. He also insisted on fixing the steps that lead to the dock in the middle of the day which again i found odd. The excuse he gave us was that he wasn't going to be back to the property until the following week and that was the only time he had to do anything. The response I got from the property manager after our stay was there wasn't much that could have been done about the maintenance and the owners had every right to be on the property to do maintenance if they wished. They just had no consideration for the fact that we were guests paying to be there. We had a run-in regarding how many cars were in the driveway and people we had on the dock which lead to them charging us more for something they had/have no proof of (ie claiming people were staying in the house for two days to which i provided the other VRBO reservation confirmation for my cousins who were staying downtown Clemson upon her request- still no response). The plan for Sunday was to be in a boat on the water all day. We contacted the boat rental company recommended by the owner to confirm a boat which was then canceled on us 2pm the day before which lead the to another colleague of his renting us a boat whose starter died 1hr into us being on the water. We spent the day waiting on the dock for another boat/solutions that didn't come until after 5m. Alas- instead of trying to salvage a relationship with us being their guests/renters they decided to nickel and dime us. It was laughable when the property manager called me with the owners (i.e. her parents) being 30ft away. As my cousin even pointed out (who's a VRBO rental owner herself) coming over and just having an adult conversation with me would have defused the entire situation and cleared up any perceived wrongdoing.

Nice cabin, perfect for families

We enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was very clean and there were a lot of boardgames to entertain the kids. The property was beautiful and well maintained. The host was very friendly. The host controls the thermostat, which was somewhat inconvenient, but it was not overly hot or cold. There are also a good many rules posted everywhere, like no sleeping on the couches and no eating anywhere but the kitchen, but nothing too unreasonable. If rules aren't your thing though, then you may want to read the fine print before booking. The hosts were next door and were willing to help if we had any questions. Overall it was a nice weekend, great location, and well maintained home.

This home had older amenities but the best view ever! It was clean, safe and cozy.

This had to be the cleanest rental I have ever stayed in but some rather strange rules and older appliances and amenities. It was safe, peaceful and the perfect compromise between the hustle of Clemson and the cozy feel of the country side. We could not adjust the temperature ourselves and it felt like there were cameras everywhere (which we didn’t like). We had to turn the water heater on and off and we’re not allowed to sleep on the couch, or eat anywhere but at the kitchen table; however, we didn’t feel uncomfortable at all and felt like it was a quiet, peaceful place to be with our small family, it was a great place to rest from a rowdy weekend at Clemson University! I would stay here again for sure

About the host

Hosted by Teresa Hayes

Host profile image
I am the daughter of the owner. I spent my summers on this lake with my cousins and grandparents. The owners are retired and live in the lake home adjacent to this home. They both grew up on the lake and love sharing what they consider part of their heart and happiness with others.

Why they chose this property

Both homes on the property were built by the owner's late father. These homes have been in the family for generations. This home is now used as a rental and the other is still used by the owner part-time. The families spent their summers water skiing, feeding the geese, and watching the bluebirds nest right in their backyard. Winters were spent playing games, enjoying the view, sunsets, and spending quality time together with no agenda and nowhere else to be. The rental home has a balcony deck that gives you the perfect view of the sunset. It's truly magical and feels like a cozy, peaceful getaway! Not to mention it's only 15 minutes away from Clemson :D (GO TIGERS!)

What makes this property unique

With the owners living at the lake, they are more than happy to answer questions, help, and assist in any way! They would also be your point of contact for any maintenance issues and can tend to that promptly. They have grown up on the lake and know all there is to know about water sports, fishing, local favorites, etc. Consider them your own personal local guide!
