Big Canoe Review

First I just want to say the owner is great and very responsive! We found a water leak and the plumber was there ASAP. Second the house is def smaller than it says. If it would have been cold it def wasn’t big enough for all 13 of us to congregate in the main living area but it wasn’t so we were only there in the evening so it worked out well for us. Cooking was hard as there isn’t a lot of counter space. Location is fantastic and having the beach just a walk down the hill.

We will be back!

We loved everything about this house! Location, cleanliness, nearby activities, the view, the golf course, hiking trails…etc. I could go on and on about how wonderful everything was! Dusty provided tons of information before we arrived and was very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Big Canoe and have already started discussing when we will go back!

Perfect Mountain Stay

The house was beautiful, comfortable, and completely as described. It was well stocked with anything you could need. My children loved the game room and said the beds were the most comfortable out of any rental they’ve stayed in. My favorite spot was the hammock on the upper deck. Dusty was great to work with, and communication was fast and efficient. Would love to stay again! At first glance the driveway can seem daunting, but don’t panic! I drive a 15 passenger, extended rear, tall roof Ford Transit, and it navigated it with no problem!

Lovely home

We had a wonderful time. The view is nice, overlooking the beach area, pool and clubhouse. I imagine it would be lively in the summer months, but it was quiet this weekend. The gathering rooms are smaller than the photos indicated but it worked for us since a third of our crew couldn’t come. Unfortunately, it’s too small to rent again with our whole family. We really loved it! Thank you!

Peaceful retreat!

Our family absolutely enjoyed our stay at your lovely cabin! Plenty of activities day and night from being in the lake to scrabble and some good ol Mrs Pac-Man! Reading in the hammocks and walking the easy wooded trails! Dinner @ “Home” restaurant just minutes up the road was delicious! And paddle boarding /kayaking on the lake was peaceful! My kids slept like a rocks as the beds were super comfortable and cozy.! Thanks for an all around 10!

Great location, family friendly

Perfect setting for extended family. Beautiful views. Location was great - adjacent to Big Canoe Beach Club. Kids loved the beach, lake and pool area. House was well equipped. Lots of games, activities, etc. to keep everyone entertained. Access to the lake (beach club) is very steep. Younger folks managed the trek with no issues. Comfortable beds, plenty of linens & beach towels. House had lots of spaces to relax and spend time together.

The Wedding

Everyone from our side of the My wife and I the bride and groom, her sister, a Neice, and the maid of honor were at this location. Some more of my wife's family stayed at another house. We rented pontoon boats the first day, went to the rehearsal, then had the rehearsal dinner at the club house. Wedding the next day and reception, afterward some of the family came over till about 10 PM. Breakfast at the grooms brothers house the next morning, came back took a nap then went to the lake and rented paddle boats, paddle boards and soaked up some sun. Fun was had by all

Family Reunion Fun

We rented two house close together for our yearly gathering. It was great being able to walk down to the beach club (although the path was a bit tricky for younger family members). The house was well appointed. we had our evening meals here because of the abundant seating. the kids loved the games on the lower level. Great time was had by all!

Close to Nature

Such a beautiful location, loved that this home backs up to the lake and you wake up to the awesome view. The parking is great you can fit up to 4 cars. We stayed there because it is only 20 minutes to the Tate house and accommodates 13 people, very comfortably. Lots of games very good for keeping all entertained. Love the nature trails and the fishing. We will stay in Big Canoe again.

Multi-generational stay

Stayed at The Roost with family for our son's wedding. Big Canoe is a beautiful (and very hilly) community with numerous amenities. The house is located at the end of a street with a steep, short drive to the parking area (slippery when wet) and offers good views of the lake and beach area. The check in process was seamless and the owner provided informative and timely communication. The house was very efficient and well appointed; however, the property does show some signs of wear. The bedrooms and loft area provided a good selection of sleeping arrangements for our family, who ranged in ages from 23 to 86. We thoroughly enjoyed coming back to the house at the end of each day and relaxing around the fireplace.

Fabulous Combination of Lake and Mountain!

This home has a wonderful blend of lake house feel with a cozy mountain cabin vibe. The game room is an extra bonus and gives everyone plenty of options no matter what your group wants to do! It was great Spring weather while we were there with temps in the 60's so we hiked a different trail every morning and relaxed on the deck in the evening around the fire pit. The house is well appointed and nicely decorated with everything you could possibly want including comfortable linens, all the cookware you need and plenty of thoughtful touches. Inside Big Canoe, it is very convenient to tennis, the beach area and lots of trails. We would highly recommend and look forward to staying here again!

Lots of Family Fun and Shopping in Dawsonville Outlet Malls

Had a wonderful time and the layout worked great with the 3 levels. Family had a blast with the Scrabble board and overall was lots of fun. The hot water had been turned off and we didn't notice until the next morning so showers were not too pleasant.. lol Only negative would be the bathroom fixtures in the shower need to be replaced in upper level as feels very loose and you are afraid you are going to pull it out.

Great first experience in Big Canoe

The house was well appointed and comfortable for our group. The kids certainly enjoyed the game room and having it separate from the living room meant there was a quiet space, too. Although it's location would be great in the summer, we enjoyed being able to access hiking trails located near the bottom of the hill.

Great location and amenities!

Loved this house, plenty of space for 9 guests. The view is wonderful and the location in Big Canoe is very convenient. The house has all necessary amenities and is perfect for cooking meals at home. The game room was also fantastic. One drawback is the description noted there was a smoker but there isn’t one, this was something we planned to use. The ice maker also does not work well, but overall great house.

Very nice but not outstanding

Internet pictures suggested a much bigger home. With 6 adults and 5 children staying in the home the living room, kitchen, and area around the outside were small and crowded. The home is in need of some renovation...hard wood floors need refinished, stove/oven needs replaced, showerhead in master bath would not stay in holder and would fall out of holder. On the positive side the kids throughly enjoyed the games, hammocks, video game, etc.
