Memorable Farwell Stay

My family and I stayed at the Lodge on Lake 13 in Farwell over Labor Day weekend. The location was perfect for my wife, as she attended the Amish Quilt auction. The porch and dock were the main hangout spot for our kids, who were focused on fishing (we even caught a Northern Pike!). Unfortunately, a storm prior to our arrival caused a power outage. Two rooms upstairs and part of the kitchen were without power on our first night, but the crew had it fixed by noon the next day. However, the fix cut power to the washing machine, and I had to buy a 25ft extension cord to restore its use. It’s unclear if this issue was due to the storm or faulty electrical wiring. The overall cleanliness of the house was below average. The property is pet-friendly (we did not bring pets) which meant noticeable carpet stains and a urine odor, especially in the evenings when the humidity increased. Additionally, we brought meat to grill, but my mother had to spend 15-20 minutes cleaning the outdoor grill before we could use it. Overall, while the location and outdoor amenities were great for our family, the power issues and cleanliness left room for improvement.

Overall a good stay with some minor issues.

Overall, this rental property was a good stay for us. For the most part, it is just as the listing shows. Upon checking into the home I did think it could’ve been cleaned better as I did do some cleaning myself immediately upon checking in. We did have to contact the property manager right away because we were left with very little paper towels and toilet paper that were supposed to be provided and there was also no air mattresses as stated in the description. (We were also left with very few kitchen garbage bags but unfortunately, we did not discover this until later in our stay) The property manager came the next day to drop off the missing supplies and to fix the fireplace that did not work. There is less parking that was stated also due to a pontoon boat and a tent type carport being on the property. There is no technical driveway so you do park in the grass which may not be good depending on the weather you get. Overall, the bedrooms were large and very accommodating with the extra TVs for children. Keep in mind the two king bedrooms upstairs have a skylight directly over the bed, so you will wake up to sunlight in your eyes if that is an issue for you. Also, the roll up shades in these bedrooms are see-through, so be sure to keep that in mind so you don’t give the neighbors a show at night. Our trip was during the winter so we could not utilize the lake but we were able to use the fireplace on the deck which was a nice feature.
