Scarlet Oak is a 1930's country home on the old Kirby Shingle Mill site, nestled under boughs of a heritage Scarlet Oak tree amid towering cedars, firs, and Pacific Dogwoods. The one+ acre property is known as one of Sooke's beautiful old gardens, and has been featured on the Sooke Secret Garden tour.

A variety of wildlife visits Scarlet Oak, and is a favourite stop over for migrating birds. This is a private gated property on a quiet street - on a popular local bike route just steps to the Galloping Goose Trail. The walking/cycling Trail can take you to the Sooke Pot Holes Regional Park over a railway trestle, and stretches as far away as Victoria. We are getting a number of guests riding bikes from Vancouver to Scarlet Oak, via BC Ferries, Lochside Regional trail, and Galloping Goose.

Your private spacious "no stairs" suite contains a full kitchen and is always supplied with coffee beans, teas and sugar. Soaps, shampoo/conditioner, and laundry soap are also provided.

Scarlet oak is a very nice secluded spot. The hosts are very good, the place itself is very well appointed and very comfortable for two people. We thought it was excellent. I hope we stay longer next visit.

Scarlet Oak Is An Amazing Spot To Stay

This is a little bit of paradise, Scarlet Oak is wonderful. The hosts are lovely, caring people that took extra care to make sure our stay was perfect. Set in a beautiful garden, the unit was really nice, clean and just right for our time in Sooke. Highly recommend this lovely place!!!

Beautiful fairytale Setting

Luxurious stay

This property is beautiful and the living space is well set up and so comfortable. Tony and Nancy are friendly and helpful hosts. Their place is in a great location near the Galloping Goose trail and not far from town. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Beautiful and welcoming stay

Nancy and Tony were extremely friendly and welcoming and made us feel like we were staying at a friend’s house rather than a vacation rental. The property is beautiful and was great to walk around in, and the suite itself was full of amenities and very comfortable. We very much enjoyed our stay and will be back next time we visit Sooke!

The accommodation is first class, the heritage property is beautiful and easy to find, the location is a perfect base for a variety of activities in the Sooke area, and Nancy and Tony, the hosts, are so friendly, helpful, and interesting to talk to. Gorgeous suite

Beautifully decorated suite with high spec finishes. Situated on a quiet street on an older property so it’s a lovely blend of old and new! I appreciate that the friendly hosts let me book one night only over a weekend. Their dogs are so sweet and friendly.
