About this property

Panoramic views of lovely Puerto Rico SOLAR POWER IN HOUSE

Country Place in the mountains where the cities and nightlife are at least an hour and a half away. Your casa awaits you high in the central mountains of Utuado, Puerto Rico complete with panoramic views surrounded by lush greenery, flowers, tropical fruits, and plants. A breadfruit tree (pana), papaya, starfruit, bananas, oranges, plantains, and more are all on this property next to the expansive tiled and furnished terrace with a wood-burning fireplace overlooking the grand view. You can watch hawks swooping down to catch a meal and hear the Puerto Rican Owl warbling in the night. Be entertained by scampering lizards catching bugs. Ferdy is the friendly caretaker who can provide you with firewood for the 🔥 fireplace for a reasonable fee. Or bring your own charcoal available at Flamboyan grocery in Angeles.

You may also enjoy cooling dips in the unheated pool and plan your outings while swaying in a hammock in the gazebo or on the terrace. Coffee plantations are nearby or Camuy Caverns and Guanataca Forest with nicely maintained trails and a small cave is in the area too. Tour companies nearby offer more. Angeles, 5 Km. away on P.R.-602 has a small grocery store (Flamboyan) that sells charcoal and most supplies one might want and an ATM. You will come across 2 bakeries, a couple of restaurants, and a weekend rotisserie selling great chicken and yummy creamy yuca ( a must-try dish)! Lares on P.R. 111 is 30 minutes away featuring bigger stores and the best "under the green bridge food truck selling "stuffed potatoes and frappes we have ever had!! A minute or two away on the same road is a small local eatery that has great Lechon (roast suckling pig) with all the traditional sides. Upon a hill on route 111 is a string of special food vendors selling good food; we like the PIZZA baked over a wood fire at the end. Most eateries are open Thursday through Sunday.

This is a typical country home but with many more features than most homes found here in the area. You will have a tranquil and relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of the hot cities. The temperatures on the shaded terrace and at night are 70 ° F ...You will only need a light sweater in the evening and perhaps a cheery fire in the fireplace. Hurricane Maria left lots of firewood that Ferdy can bring to you upon request.
Wal-Mart and other big-box stores are at least 45 minutes away. Good beaches and sport fishing are 1&1/2 hours away but you can fit those activities in when you plan 4 or more days therefore be prepared to relax and restore yourselves on one of the best country holidays of your lives.
Please do your research on what type of vacation and what region you want to be in to be certain this is for you. Water and electrical service do get interrupted occasionally in Puerto Rico. All roads are paved but if curvy and narrow country roads with occasional potholes and randomly parked vehicles and horseback riders bother you THEN DON'T COME.
Nightlight here is relaxing with a good book you brought or one of ours ...playing a game or good conversation. You can relax in the gazebo or in the unheated pool and connected spa.

Excellent View

The property is beautiful and very clean. The views are absolutely breathtaking and the facility is perfect for kicking back and relaxing. It is nice and private so you will not be bothered. Some of the furniture and the fridge could use some upgrading, which I’m sure will be done, and we were informed that the pool will be upgraded as well. Overall I would still give it 5 stars because management and owner were very polite and attentive and because it was a beautiful experience!

Paradise

We had such a lovely time in this beautiful home. It may have been a far journey to surrounding things but it was worth it for the piece of paradise we got to experience.

Lovely mountain getaway

Really lovely property! Plants and fruits everywhere, lots of geckos. The unheated pool was perfect. The roads were definitely narrow in spots, luckily we were warned, and advised not to drive at night. Water pressure was great. Views were amazing. Covered terrace was perfect during rainstorms. Loved it!!

Beautiful views may be worth the drive

This house is someone’s home. The house is well equipped for the unreliable situations that come with loving in PR. We relied on the solar power generator as a back up when the power went out. There’s a back up water tank that we tapped into several times throughout our stay when the water went out. The best thing was that it was all seamless. Ferdy showed us how to transition and we became very familiar. The house does not have an AC but for the most part we did not miss it. The fans and wind helped keep us cool. We were out most of the day so we didn’t feel the heat much. The pool was a great compliment and my son used it almost daily. The drive js very uncomfortable, especially if you have kids with sensitive stomachs. The motion sickness is real so be mindful of this. But in all honesty, after arriving, the view is so spectacular that if you plan to hunker down, this place is a piece of heaven.

Cannot wait to return!

Our family of three thoroughly enjoy staying at Patty's home! The views cannot be beat and from everywhere on the property, you feel like you are in your own oasis! We were welcomed to a pristinely clean home, with a beautiful bouquet of tropical flowers. The pool, where our 11 year old spent most of his time, is crystal clear. While it's not heated, the sun keeps it at a fine refreshing temperature that is most welcome on hot afternoons. The newly built covered patio next to the pool provided perfect shade. We nearly lived outside on the wrap-around porch - the view is amazing, the bird varieties are beautiful, and the little lizard friends rid the porch of nearly all bugs. The porch stays dry except for the windiest of rain storms - there are few things as awe-inspiring as watching the clouds envelop the mountain. Patty invited us to enjoy the veggies that were growing - nothing as delicious as fresh picked tomatoes and spinach! The kitchen had all that we needed. There were toiletries and a first aid kit in the bathrooms. There were lots of games (Monopoly, Dominos, Uno, Scrabble, puzzles, and others). We lost electricity once for a couple hours during a storm, but crews were out quicker than they usually are here in NJ. A book out on the porch was all we needed anyway. We did lose water pressure several times, but the cistern backup was reliable if we needed. Keep in mind that this house is at the top of a mountain, in the middle of the island, so a little of that is a trade off for the privacy and beauty! Except during the power outage, the wifi worked well. Cell reception was consistently good, too. Unfortunately, my husband had to do some work while we were there, but was able to do so easily with the wifi and cell. We recommend that you rent an SUV or Jeep - while a smaller car will suffice, you will be driving up mountain roads. A Jeep will be much happier than a sedan (and so will you)! We also recommend doing your grocery shopping before heading up from Utuado or Lares - we found the Econo in Utuado to be well-stocked and has good prices. It does take a while to get to, but enjoy the ride, take in the sites - heck, you're on vacation - why rush?! PR is a most beautiful island and her residents are even more beautiful! We met so many wonderful people!! Patty was wonderful! Very responsive! Her caretaker was also wonderful, providing wood for the fireplace/grill and making sure we had all that we needed!

Breathtaking!

My family and I (two adults and three teens) stayed in this mountain home for four days. It was absolutely gorgeous. The inside was pretty dated, but we honestly were only inside to sleep. We spent our time on the expansive patio and wonderful pool. We didn't cook, but it looked like there were plenty of pots and pans. When we were at the house during mealtime, we drove down the road to a local bakery and ordered food which was delicious. The property is full of fruit trees and greenery, it is clear that the owners take a lot of pride in the appearance of the grounds. We stayed here after five days on the west coast and it was nice to slow down and relax. We visited a coffee plantation, hiked the tallest mountain in Puerto Rico, went ziplining and visited a few waterfalls. This is the perfect place to get away and connect as a family.

Pool stay with a beautiful view

We arrived after dark, somewhat difficult to navigate the area at night. Went to sleep with sounds of nature, awoke to sights and sounds of nature, including a live rooster alarm clock. Beautiful surroundings, quiet area, clean home, with an accommodating host. Enjoyed small community businesses and the ability to support the friendly, hard working locals. Pool was wonderful and inviting, thank you for being helpful and sharing your casa!

Beautiful views

This place is for anyone who enjoys solitude and amazing views. You are in the mountains so at least an hour drive anywhere. But the drives are scenic. You definitely want an experienced driver because the roads are curvy and the roads are tight. So I was grateful my husband is a driver by profession. The house was modestly equipped but we still had most of what we needed. We will definitely plan to come back to this home when we are blessed with the opportunity to return. Thank you Patty for letting us enjoy the beauty and comfort that your place provided for our stay.

Beautiful home with a gorgeous view

Myself and a group of friends stayed here for a week in July. The house had enough room for everyone to stay comfortably, the home was very clean and well kept. The backyard has a gorgeous view along with beautiful flowers, fruits & vegetables growing around the property. The pool was very nice but we didn't get to enough it as much as I would have liked because by the time we got in from the days activity it was too chilly for me to swim. However staying in the mountains was nice because of the cooler nights and less mosquitos. The porch was great to sit under and watch the sunset in the mountain while listening to the Coquie Frogs. For those who must have their phones or computers WIFI was very reliable. The drive to the home is a bit far from any major town but I would not let that stop me from enjoying this home. The roads getting there are very curvy and narrow and it is not recommended to drive in at night but we did and found the home. The owner was very responsive to my questions and very helpful.

Beautiful home with stunning views of Puerto Rico

Casa Buena Vista was amazing. I am so happy my fiancee and I chose this house for our PR vacation. The views are incredible and so relaxing. We actually spent an entire day just at the house by the pool and it truly felt like we were at our own private resort! If you don't mind driving to the beach or anywhere else on the island, this house is absolutely worth it. As a side note, if you are unfamiliar with PR mountain roads, get a Jeep - you will need it!!! Thank you to Patty, Rich and Ferdy for making our stay welcoming and comfortable. :)

Amazing Views!!

The photos posted of Casa Buena Vista do NOT do these views justice!! Our family of 4 (two adults, two teenage boys) stayed in Casa Buena Vista for 11 days and it was perfect for us. We loved the patio and the boys loved the pool out back. The house is pretty secluded, there are a few neighbors within short walking distance, however it felt to us like we had the mountain to ourselves. The home is located central to all beaches & other attractions and we'll away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city life. So if you're looking for peace and quiet this is the perfect house! There is small bakery, pizza place, & grocery store in town about 10 minutes or so from the house. Larger chain grocery stores such as Walmart is about an hour away. The house is beautifully landscaped and full of pure nature. We loved sitting outside in the evenings after long adventure packed days and relaxing under the stars and looking out over the horizon. On super clear days you can actually see the ocean. Ferdy, the home caretaker, is super friendly. He made sure we were comfortable and knew that he was closeby if we needed anything. There is a coffee plantation closeby, Hacienda Tres Angeles, that is a must see on the weekend. Naomi and Juan, the owners, are so genuine and passionate about their farm and the coffee is to die for!! Overall, our stay was wonderful and we are definitely hoping to stay at Casa Buena Vista on our next trip to PR!

Love to escape the harsh winters of northern Ohio by traveling to anywhere warm. I am retired but am not a couch potato. Wanted to find a place to own and happily work on and to share this great beautiful area with others. Husband and I think anyone interested in tranquil country living will fall in love with Casa Buena Vista because it is truly a tropical paradise.

Why they chose this property

At a 2000 foot elevation (612 meters) one is up, up and away looking down on so much of Puerto Rico's wonder. Great weather and a little bit of land to call our own away from the hot cities and frantic lifestyle so many people want to escape. We have made Casa Buena Vista into a virtual paradise for anyone seeking relaxation and tranquility. If you would rather be close to nightlife and the beach don't book here

What makes this property unique

An arched entryway and a pool is always inviting. Two hammocks and a rustic gazebo for whiling away the lazy days.
