We were a group of 6 ladies 'getting away from it all' for a quiet week and this was the perfect 'home from home'. The villa itself is wonderful, light, airy, spacious and comfortable. The are 3 beautiful double ensuite bedrooms and a 4th small annexe room, more suitable for an adventurous couple of kids or a teenager I would say. The kitchen is well equipped, although an 'explain it in simple terms' instruction manuel on how to use some of the appliances would be useful, as we struggled with the ice-maker for those essential G&T's by the pool at 5pm! Some new crockery, glasses & cooking utensils would be recommended, it's all a little 'shabby-chic' & non-matching, but it's just a small hint to the owner Robert, who is a delight by the way. He's approachable, friendly, helpful and is there if you need him and discreet at other times. The pool & terrace are totally private and the Cap D'Antibes, with it's grand residences and wide avenues, is an outstanding location. I will hasten to add that a car is an absolute essential in this area. We didn't hire, as non of us particularly wanted to be responsible for driving on those narrower lanes around Antibes and we thought the walking would be good for us. Well, we certainly kept the pounds off from all the wonderful cheeses we purchased at the daily market in Old Antibes!
The nearest beach is a 10min walk away to your right out of the villa, lovely for kids with enough eateries to last a few days & the 2nd beach to your left about 15mins, but Antibes Town, with it's wonderful boutiques, great little pavement restaurants, harbour full of super yachts and buzzing nightlife, is a min 30 minute walk and trust me when I say there are no taxis to be had! (A couple of our friends, who arrived a day later, waited nearly 1hr at the station in Antibes for a taxi to the villa, finally we had to call on Robert for assistance) Also, the nearest Supermarkets/Deli's are too far without transportation. Hire a car!
Other than the small recommendations above we had a stunning holiday, superb weather, great food & wine and above all else, felt very 'at home' in the villa. I gave it a 4, just because a few little tweaks to the place, including an information manuel about the locality, where to eat, carhire, emergency numbers etc will quickly turn it into a fabulous 5! We would definitely tell our friends about this villa and we will be returning to Antibes again in the future.
