Plan your vacation in the ultimate family reunion location. Up to 23 people can stay comfortably within the beautiful Eagle Creek Retreat property. The location is secluded, set amid towering trees and sprawling green lawn, but it’s close enough to Ruidoso that you can take advantage of the restaurants, entertainment, and activities available there. When you enter Eagle Creek Retreat you’ll pass through iron gates that give the feel of a private country club created just for your family.
Eagle Creek Retreat includes both a main house and a large guesthouse with a living room with a sleeper sofa, kitchen, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms. Wood-burning fireplaces in both houses keep everyone comfortable and supplement the central heating. The main house also has central air-conditioning and the guesthouse has ceiling fans. Open the windows and let the cool mountain breezes keep everyone cool night and day.
There’s plenty to do at Eagle Creek Retreat. For starters, there’s a huge patio and hot tub pavilion where you and your group can enjoy the great outdoors. You also have horseshoe pits and a putting green where you can sharpen your skills for the course.
When you walk into the front door of Eagle Creek Retreat, you’ll be met by a spacious living room with vaulted ceilings and comfortable leather L-shaped couch and armchair. You’ll love gathering here with your group to watch a roaring fire in the stone fireplace. You have a flat-screen TV with cable and DVD player too. After a day of hiking, biking, or fishing, it will feel great to settle into this warm, welcoming room to watch a favorite movie. Neglected to clean and maintain property

Absolutely disgusting! 1 bed had what looked like some kind of food crumbs in it. 1 bed had what was described to me as a “loose hairball the size of a fist” in it. 1 bed had smelly sheets/pillows, according to the couple in that room. The bed my wife and I slept in had lingerie tags in it as well as a loose earring under the pillow. Not stuck in the sheet in a way where it would stay there during a washing machine cycle. It was simply laying there loose under the pillow. Heater filters sensors were beeping all night because they needed replacing. Floors dirty! White socks were black and covered in hair after a day of walking on them. An unwound metal clothes hanger found in the bathroom cabinet next to plunger. Probably used to unclog toilet and put back in cabinet. Disgusting! Dirty dishes. BBQ grill is gross on inside so much so that flame jets are clogged. Water pressure is terrible at bathroom sinks. We had to go buy our own towels because there was not enough for everyone. 2 people sat on a nail protruding from dining room chair. No dumpster on property. Had to bring trash to town. Dryer doesn’t dry clothes. Multiple bedroom doors could be closed completely, so no privacy. I DO NOT RECOMMEND RENTING THIS PROPERTY

Family stay

The location was great and it was clean. My family of 15 liked the layout too, BUT i would not recommend this place unless the water pressure is improved and there is hot water at the kitchen sink. One of the beds was held up with cinder blocks, and the game room had no heat. There was no communication with the property manager. There was no shampoo etc and they made sure to tell you there was limited toilet paper. Unless these things are repaired, i would not stay here!It’s a shame that these thingss hurt out stay. 12,000 shampoo and conditioner.

Okay stay.

The place did the job, but definitely needs work. Steps to access the hot tub are flimsy and not secure in some areas. You can’t use any of the upper decks or balcony’s, which are usually selling points. Tv in guest house never worked our whole stay. As well as last night the sheet rock from guest house above the chimney was falling onto the floor from rain and got the carpet wet. Not things you want to see or discover when you have spent over 4,000 for 3 nights to treat your family.

Fun weekend away!

We had a large group of 23 and this place fit our needs pretty well. It was a large property and it had a lot to offer. Lots of room to spread out and a lot of extra fun things for kids and adults to do. Shuffleboard, hot tub, pool, etc. The property was mostly clean, however there were a few mouse droppings in the guest house bathroom, it looked like one of the showers had not been thoroughly cleaned, and the baseboards were pretty dirty. The linens were clean though, and the overall cleanliness of floors and kitchen space were all very clean. One disappointment that we did have as a group, was that we could not use the fire pit. In the listing, one of the pictures shows a firepit and circle of chairs around it. After you book the property and are signing the contract with the rental management it says that no fires are allowed. Then when we got to the property there was also large metal sign in the firepit saying NO FIRES. I don’t understand why they would show a picture of it and make it seem like a selling feature if you couldn’t use it. Our group was kinda disappointed we couldn’t sit around the firepit and have s’mores. Especially since one of the guys in our group was a firefighter. Overall though, this was a great place to stay and we had a lot of fun!

Nice-ish place

The bad: TV remotes with no batteries or dead batteries. The floors upstairs squeak loudly when walked on. The door in the refrigerator is broken. The stove kinda works but kinda doesn't. Some furnishings and items are rundown, in need of repair or worn out. There is an entire cleaning checklist that must be completed or you will be charged additional fees. Why are we paying a large cleaning fee if that's the case?

Amazing

My family and I absolutely loved staying here. It was spacious and private with plenty of things to do. It was close to fun places to go like adventure mountain park and close to places to shop. It was very clean and had tons of room for clothing. Money well spent!

Weekend Getaway

Had an amazing time in Ruidoso this past weekend. The house was clean and just as beautiful in the photos. The hot tub was incredible and the surrounding area was peaceful/quiet. Great place to stay with family/friends!

Family Long Weekend

Overall this is a great property that has so much to offer. It’s a wonderful place. Unfortunately, it looked like no one had been there in months prior to our arrival due to COVID perhaps? Lots of dirt and dust on everything. We did a lot of cleaning ourselves to make it comfortable. I feel that we should be refunded our cleaning fee. The air conditioner was still winterized (we had to figure it out at the breaker box), there were mice droppings in the sleeper sofas, two toilets had leaks at the base (one leaked into the room below through the ceiling fan onto sleeping guests 😳). Also there were many kitchen appliances that didn’t work or had signs saying do not use which was disappointing (espresso machine, ice maker, convection portion of the oven). That being said, the space housed all of our family comfortably and we had a great time. The outdoor patio space is excellent with tons of seating, a hot tub, horse shoes, and golf green. The large kitchen space meant we could cook all our own meals and eat there comfortably without having to try to get our large group into a restaurant.

Best family reunion.

Our family reunions have been meeting for 20+ years and with the many changes that take place each year it's difficult to find "just the right" place. This was wonderful for this year of more young adults and less "under 12yrs" kids. The time was well spent!!

FUN!

Great experience from check in to check out! We enjoyed the privacy of this location. Saw several elk nearby. The hot tub was awesome and had a blast playing shuffleboard. Big kitchen in the main house was a plus too.

Great Potential but needs updating

For the past 8 years we have rented a house for Thanksgiving to share with our children and grandchildren, totaling 15. Finding Eagle Creek Resort in Ruidoso, New Mexico on VRBO seemed like the perfect fit. Upon arriving we were excited to see a separate building which was a game room with a pool table, ping pong table, and a foosball game. The main house was lovely and the only drawback was there was only 1 bathroom on the main floor for 8 people to share, and this also had to serve as the guest bathroom for company and had the laundry room access through this bathroom. There was also a separate guest quarters with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and living room. The property outside was large with a hot tub, putting green, and an area to play horseshoes. Sadly though we started having problems the first night. There was a strong gas smell coming from somewhere outside. Then the upstairs heater didn't go on all night so the 4 adults and 2 year old child were freezing. The parents were up most of the night trying to keep their child warm! In the morning we called property management. They were very nice and sent out their also very nice maintenance man. He couldn't fix the heater nor the gas smell and said someone else would come. The heating man came and showed us the thermostat for the heater which was behind a door in the master (the thermostat in the hallway was just for a/c). The propane man came and closed the latch/cover he'd forgotten to close a couple of days earlier. We thought all was well but because the heater is an older system set up along the baseboards, every time it turned on-every 20 minutes, there was a large shaking/rattling of metal in the Master that could be heard throughout the house so sleep was not to be had the second night! As it was a holiday, we didn't call management. We "solved" the heat problem by having the 2 year old go to her other grandparents house-in Ruidoso-and the 4 adults put on socks and layers of clothes,and turned off the heater. Furthermore, there was no hot water in the second bath upstairs-and never had any the entire visit,so those 2 adults had to use the shower in the master and the other 2 bathrooms had only lukewarm water. We called to report this but were told to let 2 people shower, wait 30 minutes, and have 2 more shower, etc as it was probably the water heater that couldn't provide enough hot water for 12 people. I called to express our dissatisfaction and we were given a 10% refund.

We arrived to find beds not cleaned, bathrooms dirty and most importantly gas turned off! It took 3 days before anyone in our party of 23 could take a hot shower or cook in the kitchen. The grill only had gas for one meal. The property was very nice for our family reunion but these problems were not acceptable!

Beautiful place, well worth the money.

We just had a couple of issues; there were dead bugs in lower drawers and cabinets in the kitchen. The hot tub would not heat properly, and when one of our group called the number for maintenance, he was told he doesn't work weekends, even though the "Rule Binder" noted there was a maintenance person on weekends. Over all it was a great place and met our family's expectations.
