About this property

Private basement suite on Knox Mountain close to downtown, golfing, and hiking

Enter this warm and open transitional basement suite through your own garage and be welcomed into a well-lit and tastefully decorated suit with a spacious master bedroom boasting a king bed, futon, and its own seating area with a television. The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed and ample room. The bathroom is large enough to be a bedroom with double sinks and an exceptionally large walk-in steam shower. Who needs a tub when you have 6 shower heads to bask in! On vacation but don’t want to skip gym day? No problem. There is a well-equipped gym for you to use at your leisure. From the gym you will find the washer and dryer. Spend time with your friends and loved ones around the comfortable living room with enough room for all, and although there isn’t a gourmet kitchen, it has everything you need to cook basic meals with 2 induction hot plates, a toaster oven, and a microwave. In the kitchen you will also find a bar fridge and dishwasher. With only an 8-minute drive to the heart of downtown, you won’t be spending much time cooking anyhow. Just off the kitchen, you will find a large pantry room and a full-sized fridge. When you’re not venturing around the trendy bars and restaurants, you can spend time wine-touring Kelowna’s famous wineries, play a round of golf at one of the many golf courses, or on some of the most popular hiking trails in all of the Okanagan on Knox Mountain, literally 20 steps away from your entrance. Stunning panoramic views of Okanagan Lake will awe you at every turn. Take the Ogopogo trail straight down to the lake, a perfect setting for a picnic or take a swim in warmer months. In the winter, Big White Ski Resort is approximately an hour's drive away, filled with world-class skiing, tubing, and skating, there’s enough to entertain the whole family. When you get back to the suite you will be welcomed with a steam shower large enough to fit everyone! (Ask your host for information on renting the whole house for wedding venues or larger gatherings).

A suite like no other
A beautiful, spacious basement suite with super comfortable furnishings, equipped with everything you need. The master suite is enormous! This place was a delight to come home to. Would highly recommend.

The property itself was nice and I would say good for 5 people or less. When we showed up to the rental property, we couldn’t get in the garage door with the code given. I called the number supplied multiple times and no one answered. We had to sit outside in 35 heat and all our luggage, waiting to hear back from someone. When we finally did they said they “forgot” to send us the welcome package with the correct code. So not a great start to our stay. Then there was no AC and the thermostat said not to touch it. After communicating with the property manager she repeatedly apologized and said they were trying to fix it. I appreciate the apology but that’s a slap in the face when you pay almost 2000 dollars for a couple nights when the listing advertised there was working AC. We found it extremely hard to sleep in there to the point of being ill. I had to purchase extra fans to try and keep the heat away. All in all the property was clean, but the location is not great so I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are ok with driving minimum 20 minutes to get somewhere and not walking distance to anything.

Well as a previous guest commented, when we arrived there was an RV blocking our access to the garage parking spot that goes with this suite, the dishwasher wasn’t operational and most concerning, the air conditioning system wasn’t working. A dishwasher is a nice feature but not having one isn’t the end of the world. However, Kelowna in the summer is no place to not have a functioning A/C system. Our accommodation was an unbearable 87*F (31*C) when we got there. Fortunately the RV was relocated a day or so after our arrival and with my help we managed to get the A/C system running as well. This made a huge difference in our enjoyment of the space. The suite itself is very spacious and comfortable as are the beds. The bathroom has a large shower with a steam feature that is very relaxing. The kitchen, although not fully equipped, was good enough to prepare simple meals. After working out the main issues (A/C and parking) it was a very nice space to return to at the end of the day. Overall I think I would consider staying here again, however, I would reach out to the host Alina (who was very responsive) in advance to ensure there are no issues prior to my arrival.

Beautiful home
The property was very nice, pictures looked just like the actual property. Location is great and the trails right behind the house have some breath taking views. We loved the steam shower and how close the property is to downtown Kelowna while still being in a quiet area.

Nice location, unorganized host.
We choose this place because we liked the large size, the option to park inside a garage and it's location right next to the Knox Mountain trails. Unfortunately a broken down RV blocked access to the garage. The door was locked and the suite was not set up for our arrival. We had to ask for toilet paper, and then were told to only use the white towels in the bathroom, even though there were other towels left out in the bathroom. Because it's in the basement, there were multiple mechanical rooms that made an incredible amount of noise making it difficult to sleep, it sounded like a pump that would turn on for a couple of minutes every 10-15 minutes all night long. The HVac ran continuously, and the thermostat we had access to didn't change the settings, and despite running continuously it was uncomfortably hot inside. The owner said she would turn off the HVac system over night so it would be quieter, but it stayed on all 3 days were there. There was tea but no coffee, and the dishwasher didn't work. Our last night there we were eating dinner inside, and music suddenly started playing in the built in speakers deafeningly loud. I had to run upstairs and ask for the music to be turned off. Overall it was disorganized and uncomfortable. The consensus of our family is we wouldn't stay there again, nor recommend it to anyone else.
