About this property
Savary Mid Island Modern
Built in 2022, this cabin's modernist design focuses on a wall of glass that immerses you in sunlight and the peaceful forest setting. Beach access, viewpoints and the local cafe are all less than a 10 minute stroll away.
New, state-of-the-art systems (solar, septic, well) ensure effortless off-grid living, enabling you to fully relax and enjoy your holiday — no need to run a generator or monitor a gravity-fed water system.
THE SPACE
The cabin has two bedrooms: One with a king bed. The second bedroom has a queen/single bunkbed with an additional single trundle bed beneath it.
The well-stocked kitchen features new appliances (range + full-height fridge). The bathroom has a walk-in shower (with an additional outdoor shower in the works for summer 2024 so you can rinse off the salt and sand after a trip to one of Savary's numerous beaches).
On the walk-out deck you will find ample space and seating for drinks and dinner in the privacy of a landscaped fern garden (as well as a Weber BBQ).
THE LOCATION
The mid-island location means there is lots to enjoy and explore nearby:
Mermaid Beach ~ 5 min walk
Sutherland Beach ~ 15 min walk
Meadows Beach ~ 20 min walk
Mermaid Cafe ~ 5 min walk (offering daytime coffee and food, as well as live music on some evenings)
Viewpoint on south bluff ~ 5 min walk
The Sugar Shack ~ 15 min walk
[NB: Actual times may vary depending on how long your legs are.]
The General Store is a leisurely half hour bike ride, with more beaches and trails to explore along the way. Details and maps for all these points of interest are provided at the cabin.
Bikes are available to borrow (3 adult, 2 for kids) on the conditions that every rider:
1. Wears a helmet; and
2. Understands and fully assumes the risks associated with riding in the sandy and/or rocky conditions found on the roads and trails of Savary Island.
GUEST ACCESS
Keys to the cabin will be left in a lockbox, enabling self check-in at your convenience after 3pm.
Guests have exclusive use of the cabin and property during their stay. There is also a bunkie on the property, which is not included (but will not be occupied during your stay). You will see pictures of the bunkie in the property photos because it can be included to accommodate larger groups (>6 people) for an additional cost. If interested, please ask us about it.
BEDDING AND TOWELS
Pillows and blankets are provided. Sheets and towels are NOT provided (due to a lack of laundry facilities on the island). If you are unable to bring your own, they can be included for an additional cost upon request.
GARBAGE AND RECYCLING
Guests MUST TAKE ALL RECYCLING AND GARBAGE (including meat scraps) with them upon departure. Composting of vegetable matter occurs onsite.
There are metal garbage cans on the property, which can be used for critter-proof storage of recycling and garbage during your stay.
There are no garbage or recycling facilities on Savary. Any garbage or recycling left behind will incur additional charges for transport, disposal and cleaning. Thanks for your understanding and consideration.
GETTING TO SAVARY ISLAND
Savary Island is accessible by water taxi from Lund or Campbell River, or by private boat. Water taxis dock at the Government wharf, which is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. Lund Water Taxi also operates a land taxi on Savary, which can be booked at the same time as the water taxi to take you from the wharf to our cabin. If you need further information, please ask us.
If you want to come to Savary in your own boat, we may be able to arrange moorage upon request.
