Annual Tahoe vacation

Great place for family (3 couples plus 1 baby), place has AIR CONDITIONING even though the host said it didn’t. (It’s a life saver in hot Tahoe summers). There were a few little snafus, no deal killers, and overall it was a great place to stay. Depending on how the host rates us and our check-out, we would look to return here next year.

Not secure unit and rat droppings on beds

I have never had such a disappointing stay in the 20 years I have been using vacation rentals. The check in process was a nightmare. The instructions stated there was a key pad on the front door, which there was not. It was difficult to get in touch with the property management company. They insisted there was a key pad on the front door and we had to argue with them that there wasn't. Finally, they somehow realized there was a garage door opener pad. They gave us that number and they keypad was on the door to the house inside the garage. This is the exact same situation that a previous guest had. The property management knew this was a problem and they never fixed it.Inside the house there was a door going downstairs to another rental property. The lock to the door was on the other side, meaning this unit does not have the ability to lock the door. The property management insisted that the unit below does not have access to the unit, but I did not see any evidence of that.Additionally, there was a sliding door to a deck that did not have a lock and there was also a missing fire alarm. This unit is completely not secure and unsafe. The cherry on top was that there was rat droppings on two of the beds and there was rat droppings along the window sill of another room. The property manager brought sticky traps, which is a really traumatic way to catch rats. The property management's response has been disappointing and completely insufficient. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Nice but check in was a mess

The property was OK overall and we enjoyed our stay..... once we eventually managed to get in. The instructions we received stated that the front door has a keypad code lock that we would be able to open with a simple numerical code / pin. This was was totally untrue. When we got there late at night, in the dark, we found no such keypad code lock. We had to call the customer service number and after a long process, they gave us a code to open the garage door. The door with the keypad code lock was inside the garage! This lock also failed the 2nd day and would not work anymore. We had to keep the door from the garage to the house open otherwise we would have been locked out. Beyond that major frustration late at night, we enjoyed the stay although having some coffee available (which is standard at short term rentals) would have been nice. The carpets are also quite shabby and in need of being upgraded.
