We had a nice time. Property was clean and welcoming. Host was responsive. The kitchen had all we needed to make dinner and pack lunches for next day's adventure. Sink water was labeled non-potable but host provided adequate water cooler jugs which was nice. The property this cabin is on is quite expansive and we wish we had more time to explore it.
Marijo is the host. She was very knowledgeable was very quick to reply. The cabin was centrally located. Less than an hour’s drive to Acadia National Park, Franklin & Castine. We didn’t stay long enough to use the kayaks or canoe. We experienced one thunderstorm. This helped to feed the stream behind the fire ring. The sounds were very soothing.
We enjoyed the cozy getaway located near Acadia and Bar Harbor! It was close enough for day travel, but far enough to feel a little less touristy and out of the hubbub.
Loved the place. Private, comfortable, warm, and inviting.
Loved the decorations , dishes, and the bed was comfortable.
Looked forward to coming back to the cabin after day at the park.
We had a wonderful short getaway at the cabin. It was absolutely perfect for us. My husband said this was his favorite vacation rental that I have ever booked. Can't wait to return!
This cabin provided us with a peaceful week to relax. The feel of the cabin was very welcoming, simple yet it had what we needed for the week. The craftsmanship in which it was built was exceptional. The decor was very fitting due to the setting. Marijo was very responsive and helpful. I was amazed how quiet it was even though we were in the woods we didn't hear many animals/insects.

Worst birthday ever
The cabin was adorable; however, it was like an oven!! No AC. No ceiling fans. We found the only fan the morning we left. We ended the trip two days early. The cabin was unbearable. No sink in the bathroom so you had to wash your hands in the kitchen sink. I did not find any ice cube trays to make ice. The bugs were horrible making it difficult to enjoy the fire pit. No screen door on the cabin door making it difficult to cool the cabin off. To use the WI-FI you have to park along side the main forestry garage.
This is the place to be for peace and quiet. Pro: nicely appointed; great for two guests; comfortable (firm) bed; thoughtful touches (shampoo, dish detergent, foil and plastic wrap, local maps and books); outdoor grill; very responsive host. Con: no sink in bath and no mirror in kitchen where the only sink is so shaving is a challenge. Could not find outlet for hairdryer close to bathroom mirror. These were minor inconveniences for us but maybe not for others. Cabin gets warm in the day without use of fans but cools off nicely at night.
Took us about 45 minutes to get to Acadia. We would definitely stay again.
A perfect remote getaway but with access to the coast minutes away.
You will not find a better cabin in a better location with hosts this kind and knowledgeable. You could spend a week just walking the property. The Christmas trees, a road that leads to outstanding water views, and all kinds of wildlife will leave you breathless. You are more adventurous? You have kids or guest who want to do more? The Maine coast with Acadia National Park is short drive away. If you like water and hikes but not as many people check out Tunk Mtn area, it was amazing. Thank you for sharing this property for my week of R&R.
Great place to stay as a "home base" for all that Maine has to offer. We were comfortable and it was the perfect space for 2 people. Would definitely stay again!
This was a lovely quiet retreat in the evenings when we were done exploring nearby. Loved the blanket of stars on a clear night, and had so much fun with the kayaks in the nearby waterway. Loved it!
This is a great place to unplug and unwind. The cabin is small but great for two people. You are in the middle of nowhere and is very private. Will definitely rent again.
This cabin is beautifully situated on a tranquil piece of property. Sitting out by the fire pit you can hear the nearby trickle of a small stream. The kitchen is well equipped and we found the bed to be very comfortable! Take time to drive the property in order to enjoy the scenery and take in the wildlife!
We had a very enjoyable stay in a well-equipped cabin that was located in a private and secluded location ~30min away from Acadia. This large property/farm offers hiking, kayaking, great views and opportunities to see wildlife such as deer, wild turkeys and porcupines. The only thing that was missing was a coffee maker but luckily we brought our own AeroPress.
Thanks Marijo!
My husband and I enjoyed the quiet relaxing environment. The property is a very large tree farm which we had access to explore the entire farm. During our stay we mostly went sightseeing in Bar Harbor and Arcadia National Park.
This was a great place to stay! We actually got a free upgrade to her other cabin with 3 bedrooms since family was staying at the one we booked. We were not disappointed! The cabin was great, loved the style. It had everything we needed from extra towels/toiletries to all kitchen supplies. She even had a re-fillable k-cup for our own coffee! Satellite tv worked fine when we decided to watch it. As far as the internet, we used my phone as a hotspot. Set it by the window in the bedroom with the tall dresser and it worked fine.
The view was amazing.. This cabin was set back about a mile and a half from the road so it was so Peaceful and Relaxing!! The original cabin was not far and still set back in a quiet spot. If you want beautiful views, choose the 3 bedroom! It's worth the extra money. We were hoping to see a moose, but no luck :)
The location is a good central spot between the two places we came to see - Acadia and Bangor.
The only thing that I didn't check into first was that the beds are Double sized. We usually go for Queen or King, so we had to sleep in different rooms, but it didn't really matter. Just something to be aware of.
Thank you Marijo for a beautiful stay!
We had a wonderful stay here. The cabin was advertised -- small, but clean, cozy, and comfortable.
The location is great -- almost no traffic on the dirt road -- maybe a couple other vacationers out walking/jogging and the occasional small off-road vehicle, but overall it was incredibly quiet. If you want a 5 minute drive to the tourist-y locations, this isn't the right choice, but if you don't mind a 45 minute drive to Acadia NP (et al), it is worth it to be this far away from the chaos that comes with being so close to the attractions. Plus much cheaper!
The shower was a bit finicky, but not unusable. It had a bad habit of losing the hot water entirely, but a quick off and on again got the water warm again very quickly.
Do be sure to wear bug repellent if you are going to spend any significant time right outside the cabin, but I mean....it's Maine in August. That's true pretty much everywhere, right? There was a citronella candle provided on the picnic table to help with this.
The morning and evening serenades from the hermit thrushes was such a pleasant song to wake up to.
We would definitely look at staying here again if we ever find our way back to this area of the country.
If you dreamed about staying in the Maine woods for a week, this is the place your brain would invent. It was cozy, romantic, secluded, complete and seductive. Every morning it was a chore to leave, and every night it was a relief to come "home." Scenic places off the property were somewhat crowded in August, quite naturally, so this place was good for the evenings when we were tired from exploring. One night we made crab cakes with fresh crab and I thought I was in heaven. I heartily recommend this site.
Wonderful property that is tucked away on the owners large property. The cabin was clean, tidy and had all the necessities you need for your stay. We loved the fire pit area, where we hung out around most nights...perfect for s’mores! The night sky is also amazing at this location. Not a lot of city lights so the starry sky is awe inspiring. We also drove around the property and took in the views and wildlife. Would stay here again!
