Wonderful stay!

This ended up being the perfect house for our new year's and birthday getaway! Marilyn was a great host, and she added so many extra special touches to make it a home away from home that we really appreciated. The house was very clean, and had multiple areas that we could spend as a family, or for each person to have private time for themselves. We hope to stay here again on our next visit to Big Bear!

Enjoyed Our Stay In This Great Home

This home was extremely clean and easily accommodated our family of four. The owners (Marilyn and Miguel) where very communicative and responsive, which made handling the accommodations for this vacation super easy. We had a great ski trip to Big Bear and would be happy to stay at this home again.

Beautiful cabin, but very steep stairs

Marilyn clearly takes great care of the cabin. It was clean and had so many special touches that we enjoyed. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. However, we did not feel like we were properly informed about the 35 steep stairs to get from the driveway to the front door to enter the cabin. We had giant coolers and large suitcases that took 3 adults to pull up the steps. Thank goodness it hadn't snowed recently, because it probably would have been an impossible task. Once everything was safely in the cabin, though, we had a lovely time. Thank you Marilyn!

Pine Top Dream is a Dream

We had a chance to stay at Pine Top Dream to ring in the New Year. The cabin was truly idyllic and very welcoming. Marilyn & Miguel were also wonderful hosts; they were quick to respond to messages and were very patient with our late arrival due to unforeseen delays. The cabin was very cozy, clean, and comfortable, and every detail was thought of down to the welcome basket, holiday decor, bathroom treats, and bed trays, which were such a nice touch. The cabin has everything needed from kitchen staples including spices and condiments, an assortment of games, ample cleaning supplies, two fireplaces (one wood burning; one gas), and the beds and sheets/duvets were beyond comfortable. There are also three decks and a variety of outdoor seating to take in the beautiful scenery and surroundings. The cabin is located just above central Big Bear in a very peaceful and quiet neighborhood, and is only a 5-minute drive to Big Bear Village.

Perfect mountain family time

Our hosts, Marilyn/Miguel, were generous, kind and so thoughtful in all the details and preparation and communication. The cabin was in a perfect location to enjoy building a snowman, Big Bear skiing, the zoo, grocery stores, fun eateries and everything the area has to offer. The cabin was perfect for our family of 4 as we had a enough space to spend valuable moments together and to enjoy quiet moments enjoying the beauty of the area. The kitchen, bath, bedrooms and family areas had everything that you needed to easily enjoy your time there. The description was perfectly described and Marilyn was wonderful in answering all of our questions and any concerns. We highly recommend this place if you are traveling up to Big Bear!!

Pine Top Dream is Dreamy

Our family of 5 came up to Big Bear for Thanksgiving week and we had a wonderful stay at Pine Top Dream. The cabin is charming and cozy with fantastic views from the top 2 floors and deck. The TV / fireplace room on the lower floor was a great place for the kids to hang out. If you are planning a trip to Big Bear I definately recommend this property.

Blissful stay at Pine Top Dream Rental

Our experience staying at this property was more than we hoped for. The beds were cozy. The decor & furnishings were welcoming and comfortable. Marilyn & Miguel had the cabin warm & inviting upon our first step in the door. The cheese & wine spread spoiled us along with a salon feel in the bathrooms, stocked with bubble bath soap & face masks, etc. Of course the kitchen was stocked with all we needed to cook a candlelight 4-course dinner & bake a cake. This was the MOST perfect place to celebrate Mike’s 50th birthday, nearly snowed in. The kids will definitely come next time. It will be perfect for them as well. I’d like to thank Marilyn & Miguel for exceeding our expectations of our stay at their beautiful cabin.

Outstanding

We travel extensively but this was our first VRBO booking and first time to Big Bear Lake. We absolutely loved our stay at Pine Top Dream. The owner, Marilyn, has created just the most perfect mountain cabin retreat. It brought me back to that home feeling from when I was a child during Michigan winters - especially the downstairs room by the fireplace --- it was sublime. The cabin was spotless. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Kitchen was stocked. Every little detail was thoughful and wonderful. We so look forward to staying again. Thank you, Marilyn!

Exactly what I was looking for and more!

I don't usually write reviews but I feel it would be a disservice to all the love and hard work Marilyn has put into this cabin home if I did not. Hopefully this review is not too long for those interested in staying here, because the cabin was absolutely wonderful! The cabin is located close to grocery stores, restaurants, beautiful hikes, and right next to Bear Mountain for snowboarding and skiing, while still being secluded enough to enjoy a quiet night on the mountain - in a neighborhood of other cabins and residential homes. There are quite a few stairs leading up to the home (I believe 35), which may not be accessible for some, but I was able to bring up my suitcase and small cooler without issue. The home itself is incredibly clean and cozy, with three levels to enjoy. The first has a deck outside, wet bar, gas fireplace, modern bathroom with a shower, and comfy couch with a TV and tons of games for families of varying ages. The second floor has a modern bathroom with a tub and shower, private bedroom, modest size (but fully stocked) kitchen, dining table, and living room complete with TV and wood-burning fireplace. The third floor has a loft with a bookcase, crib, two twin beds, and a private bedroom with another twin bed and full size bed. I went for a quiet trip alone and was joined by my boyfriend for the first two nights of my five night stay, though there would have been plenty of room for a family of up to seven! I spent quiet mornings with my coffee (provided) and a blanket out on the second floor deck listening to the birds chirp, went on spectacular hikes close by, and drank wine by the fire while Christmas songs from a bluetooth speaker (provided) filled the main floor. It was truly a pine top dream! I kept telling Marilyn I did not want to leave, and she generously allowed me to extend my stay another day! Marilyn, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to meet - She decorated the inside of the cabin beautifully for Christmas and provided wine, smoked salmon, cream cheese with crackers, donuts, chocolates, fuzzy socks, bath bombs, and my own personalized tea towel upon arrival. It is clear how much love she puts into the home to make it a wonderful stay for everyone who comes. She was very kind and responsive to any questions I had before, during, and after my stay. I will absolutely be going back!

Comfy Cozy!

We are a family of 6, including 4 teenagers. Marilyn and Miguel's place was the perfect fit for all of us to enjoy time together and time alone as we would gather together around the fireplace to watch Netflix or cuddle up on a couch to read a book. Even the kids commented on how comfortable the beds were and we were so happy to be just blocks away from Bear Mountain for skiing and not much farther away from the village. Thank you Marilyn and Miguel for your gift of hospitality to us.

About the host

Hosted by Marilyn/Miguel

Host profile image
Our family enjoys the recreational opportunities and unique environmental aspects available in the area, hence, we decided to purchase a cabin. Our challenge was to create a pleasant living space, with all the amenities a guest would need and normally have in their home. Cleanliness is important; I want people to not have to think about whether or not their bed sheets/pillows/throws are clean. Visitors can enjoy the close proximity of this cabin to the Bear Mountain, while surrounded by the native flora and fauna, and amenities/tools needed to provide hands-on educational experience for children.

Why they chose this property

This cabin sits high up on Moonridge providing a wonderful view! The setting is private, tranquil and relaxing. The air is clean. Several species of birds (250 in Big Bear) can be seen flying and perching on the Oak and Pine Trees surrounding the large decks.
The front of the cabin has floor to ceiling windows allowing you a picturesque view of the forest and mountains from both the main floor and loft. The decks are extensive and allow for a wide range of viewing. Bear Mountain, with Southern California's only halfpipes is just down and around the corner. Big Bear also provides access to the Pacific Crest Trail, The Woodland Trail "Easy" at 534-556 Woodland Rd, Cougar Crest Trail "Moderate" at CA-38W, and Snow Summit Trail "Easy" at 899 Summit Blvd. The Big Bear Discovery Center also has a short, .5 miles, nature trail "moderate" at 40971 N Shore Drive, is also close by.

What makes this property unique

There are three unique living spaces:
1). The ground floor has a wet bar and an authentic rock gas fireplace which gives out a lot of heat in the sitting area for those warming up after skiing.
2).The main floor has a wood burming fireplace in the living room, and large floor to ceiling windows for an expansive view, and
3). The top level is the loft, a quaint area with new carpet and view, can be utilized as a play/reading area.
With over 1400 sq ft it provides lots of living space. Furnishings in the living room include leather rocking/recliners, a sofa, child's table/chairs (will bring it out when requested). Both high speed internet (60mbps), wifi and cable, with Netflix. Visitors are welcome to share candles, condiments, and paper towels/tissue. Science activities (magnetism, bird guides, magnification boxes, DNA molecular building kits, SMART games) are available for preschool up through and including sophomore level.
